What bothers me about videos like this isn't the video, but the comments. None of these people were saying any of these were a reason to not be healthy. They were just saying that they want people to respect them as people. Everyone has problems, but because theirs is more noticeable than others, people think they have the right to be rude to them, and they don't. There's no excuse to be rude to anyone. The point of these videos is just a reminder for all of us to love ourselves, and to be good to each other, despite what's going on in our lives.

Eye of Xaxaar In this particular case I was talking about the comment section. A lot of people are pretty rude in there. When it comes to what her uncle said, it depends on what the underlying statement meant. If he was saying "work out you're fat" in a "nice" way, then it was rude. If it was general conversation, then it wasn't rude. Since we weren't there, we don't know if it was rude or not.

Bruh these comments are triggering me lol How can you all sit there and make excuses for your shitty character, or lack of character for that matter, by telling "fat people" that "Well, maybe if you were skinnier people would stop bullying you." 😂 Man, how small minded are you that you are incapable of loving people for who they are rather than what they look like? The people being triggered by a video where all people are saying is that they love themselves, are the people who truly need to learn to love themselves because once you reach peace of mind with yourself you can truly start to love everyone around you. So prayers out to you guys ❤️ Hopefully you can learn to love yourselves, such as the individuals in this video. 😊💕💕💕💕

"Maybe if you were skinnier people would stop bullying you." You hit the nail on the head with this one Karla! This is definitely the kind of language that perpetuates body shaming and insecurity for many people. Kudos to anyone who is able to look past this kind of talk and expect respect no matter what their body type is. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this Karla!

Karla Irene To all the people who say "if you were skinnier people would stop bullying you", guys, if you spent more time choosing your words, the world would have been a happier place. There's not necessarily a problem with others' attitude, it can be your own attitude's problem. It's not like all fat people are unhealthy, I can give you a list of demerits of being skinny. Also, it's not like none of the fat people have never tried to lose weight, sometimes it just doesn't work, because you don't know what kind of hormone changes they're going through. There are so many more reasons than eating too much, behind getting fat. I have super skinny friends who can eat a whole cow! I wish people would spend more time thinking about what they say.

Karla Irene meh if u love urself do urself a favor and be the ideal u.. bullying isn't right, but it's a fact that these people are fat and there's such a thing called morbid obesity. if they were comfortable with themselves they wouldn't put out videos every now and then justifying their lifestyle. being fat is unhealthy, if it triggers u and u don't want people to point it out it means ur ok with these people living unhappy lives(not that thin people are healthy, but being fat just adds to their problems) and tryna convince themselves theyre heathy and living in their perfect bubbles when they're dying (literally and figuratively) maybe they have some disorder, but they need to be humble enough to ask for help and not go on the net and boast
@carnivorousvegetarian1144
@carnivorousvegetarian1144 7 жыл бұрын
Cleodolinda Pinto What about the people who aren't morbidly obese. I have stick-thin friends who insist they are too fat. I have friends who aren't even overweight, they just look big and are told constantly to lose weight. I have friends who are heavy because of bone mass. Sometimes you need to tell yourself everything is okay so you don't break your own self-esteem. You have to "fake it till you make it" in order to live with yourself. You shake it off when people call you things and you feel comfort when you see others with the same problem. Losing weight isn't just a physical issue you have to tackle but also a mental one. At times, you even think that there is no point. I have friends who eat literal junk and haven't eaten a vegetable in months but are ten times skinnier and I know people who eat healthy and try hard but can't seem to stop gaining weight. I think people don't understand sometimes. Put yourself in our skin, and put yourself on a stage. Self-confidence is more a defence mechanism then anything. It's something you NEED (even if its simply to lose weight). You need the confidence to exercise to not fall back into it, and some people don't have it. It's not as easy as you say it is.

I'm on a weight loss journey and I think these body positive videos are necessary and I don't think that they are there to advertise an unhealthy lifestyle. I've always been fat and hated my body and tried to lose weight many times before. I've been successful at weight loss for the first time in my life now and already lost 20+ pounds in just 5 weeks. Do you know what's different now compared to the other times I tried to lose weight? I learned how to love my body and myself the way it is and learned that losing weight has to happen to better my body. Weight loss for me couldn't happen when I hated my body, because it made me hate myself in return, and I would always convince myself that I didn't deserve to lose weight and look good, because I just had such a negative outlook on myself. A negative mindset doesn't bring positive change. A positive mindset brings positive change from my experience :)

Hello, how did you do it ?
@Dania.q
@Dania.q 7 жыл бұрын
Krizyl Saguibal There's no secret it's just healthy eating and exercise. I only eat properly portioned healthy home cooked meals that have no preservatives, and I exercise 5 times a week, an hour each time. As I said before, I was fat my whole life and always miserable about my weight. I was always criticized and made fun of about my weight as a kid by everyone including people from school and especially my mother. These comments only made me more fat and miserable. "Tough love" and criticism about my weight did not help me lose weight if anything it did the opposite.i don't understand a persons logic when it comes to telling fat people their fat and think that it's going to help them lose weight. Fat people know their fat and reminding them is not going to help anyone. I decided to change my life when I moved out of my house and started to really accept myself and surround myself with positive people. When I grew respect for myself and my body is when I really wanted to better myself and lose weight. You have to be in the right mindset really.

So basically this is a part of a series of videos you did of low self esteem individuals complaining and implicating that people who are not like them should adopt to them. You had Gays, Black, Women, and now "fat" people or as they like to call themselves big boned. What happened to "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. " How did we go from judging people based on their character regardless of size color or sexual orientation to these videos of people with no character to speak of expecting everyone else to adapt to their super low standards. Well I got a quote for you.... “It's not men who limit women, it's not straights who limit gays, it's not whites who limit blacks. What limits people is lack of character. What limits people is that they don't have the nerve or imagination to star in their own movie, let alone direct it.” ―Tom Robbins, Still Life with Woodpecker (1980) ....I too have a dream where we stop making videos such as these and actually take responsibility for our lives without the need for victim stories or pointing fingers. Everyone has limitations but guess what we all have a choice. Responsibility. Response-able. Being able to make a choice. That is our responsibility. A choice how you see the world, regardless of how it see you. Responsibility not to tell victim stories. Responsibility to not eat more calories than you burn. That is my dream.

The whole point of the series is that there are still people who really do judge based off of color, orientation, etc..., and that King's words are still not followed. Doing it with fat people is dumb because unlike skin color and sexuality, weight has a healthy acceptable range and while eating disorders exist, there has been enough research and work done in the field to help people overcome them. But you miss the valid criticisms with you're head buried up you're ass the way it is.

Krunoslav Stifter 100% agree with you. But people these days are not taught to fight and overcome when adversity occurs, but choose to fear challenges and then have a pity party for themselves and "find others like them" who feel the same way and start trying to get the masses to think they are normal. But no. They are weak minded.

What I really hate is when someone offers me something to eat and I refuse (because I just don't want to eat at that moment) they suddenly ask if I'm on a diet. Or when I'm at a family gathering and an aunt talks to me (alone) telling me "a really good diet that really works". Just stop, I know how to lose weight; if I ever wanted to lose weight, I would, so stop it.

Okay okay I understand that my comment sounds really bad. When I'm saying this, I'm talking about people (such as many people in the BLM movement) who feel that white people shouldn't exist or are inferior to other races. It presents itself differently, but it's still a problem that exists. Honestly I don't think there's any way I could word this that would make me not sound like some horribly racist person to you, but the views online don't just stay online.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I am a thin person and people think that it is okay to just bring up my weight because apparently if your skinny then their shouldn't be any issue with talking about your weight. I always get, "Wow, you're so skinny or How are you so skinny and have 4 kids." I have been told to gain weight and I constantly hear blowing away jokes. For me there is no way to answer these facetious questions without sounding rude so I just suck it up and act polite. I have been accused of having an eating disorder and people look at me weird when I am eating like it never occurs or something. oh, but all this should be okay since I'm skinny. It definitely feels like a double standard to me.

I think it's very rude to straight up call someone fat. I see fat people the same way I see everyone else, I don't treat them differently or make fun of them. But it's such a big health problem and people need to realize that just accepting obesity will not do you any good at all. You will feel like crap all the time, die at an earlier age, and it will be harder to keep a stable relationship. I'm not saying this to be "that asshole", I'm saying this because I know so many people that are like this and they always tell me these same things. Just try some healthy routines and maybe things will go your way.
@Zoubii00
@Zoubii00 7 жыл бұрын
It seems to me that the "feeling like crap" and "keeping a stable relationship" part are relating to the prejudices that are facing overweight people. And we can change that by being better more respectful and less judgemental humans. The dying early part though is very true and severe and also none of your business if I may ;) If these people don't want to change their life style, like someone who drinks or smokes or has very life threatening hobbies, then let them be. Information (about health issues and such) is essential, but freedom of choices is too!

Aya Thiam And you just compared obesity with someone who smokes or drinks. (which are two very bad habits in their own right.) Why do you think there's anti drinking and smoking organizations? (Like YAERD or DARE.) Its because those two things are a big concern when it comes to health and other peoples health.

You can't choose so many things about yourself but weight you can. If these people didn't want to deal with things they said then all they had to do was not eat as much and take care of their bodies. People give a negative vibe to overweight people because they tend to have a lower self esteem and show physical signs of bad habits (just like smoking). If you love yourself you will take care of your body and therefore love others and set a good healthy example for them. This comes from someone who's mother lost an incredible amount of weight to be there for her children, set a good example, and so she could be around long enough to see us grow up. I hope these people can someday do the same.

I am a very large girl, a side effect from life-saving medication that I have to take. And I have come to own the word fat. People when you are in person with them are always afraid to use the word in reference to my body, but I'm like that's what it is, it's on my body and I'm going to accept that and not be ashamed because that's who I am. An older relative of mine freaked out the other day because one of my kids made a comment about my fat, and I told them that I was okay with it, and I wish more large people like myself were okay with it as well. But me being fat doesn't define me.

I see a lot of people in the comments talking about these people's possible health issues due to being overweight. I would like y'all to know that I'm almost 100% every single one of them knows the possible health issues due to being overweight or obese. Y'all can act like doctors all you want (only aimed at people that are not in the medical field), but it won't change the fact they probably already know the related health issues. This video isn't about people's health issues, it's about being respected like the human beings they are. How can someone choose who they want to respect and who they don't want to respect based off a person's looks? Bullying is being disrespectful as well. How can some of you say, "Well, you people wouldn't get bullied if you weren't fat," ? Y'all need to teach people/kids to respect others instead of encouraging them to bully. How much of an asshole do you have to be to make a person feel bad about themselves? I don't think any of you understand that some overweight people are comfortable with their bodies and they can actually be very healthy, regardless of their extra weight. I've gone to the doctor's offices with friends of mine that are way past their "ideal" weight and they receive a clean bill of health by the doctor. Do they have to lose weight in some cases? No. They're bodies can be 100% healthy. Would it help them have a better image of themselves? Maybe. That brings me to my next point. Just because someone is overweight doesn't mean they aren't happy with the way they look. I've met wayyyyy to many people who are overweight and are comfortable with their bodies. Just like some athletes are comfortable with theirs, just as some skinny people are comfortable with theirs, etc... At the end of the day, everyone should RESPECT one another regardless of weight, color, race, etc... And, for y'alls information, if it isn't your life, don't worry about it. You can be judgmental all you want (because as humans, we're naturally like that), but it ain't your life. Live your life the way YOU want. Whether it be with a bomb athletic body or a little junk in the trunk that make the ladies/men run wild.

Honestly, the comments here are so discouraging. People think they're helping or pushing people to lose weight by being cruel but the amount of time I, myself have been on a diet, even for months and it would take just one person to say something before I would go back to eating the foods that brought me comfort. Most people who are overweight didn't get there overnight. I have a lifetime of going to food for security, so when I'm trying to stop and someone says something like some of the things that were said in the comments here, it is so easy to go back to it because I am truly fragile when I don't have the life-long safety blanket. Instead of saying it's unhealthy, say nothing because we know it is and I would every single person who has been overweight has truly hated themselves at one point or another and all you're doing is adding to the reason why we find it so difficult to lose it in the first place. These people are beautiful and brave ❤

But I know now that was and is her issues she has and tried to put them on me. We haven't spoke since my mother passed away 4 yrs ago. I have 3 brothers and I don't hear from them either.

People make fun of me all the time because I have really skinny arms.... I'm 130 lbs... I think everyone is judged to an extent. Just love who you are and respect the people around you. Empathy is very important. Some people are lacking in it

As someone who used to be obese, I lost over 50lbs, yeah, eating right and exercising should be a part of everyone’s life. Thing is, I don’t think it’s fair to make nasty comments about how these folks should live their lives. This video wasn’t to justify their weight like a lot of “body positive” people do. This video was about respect. At any weight a person should be respected, whether they’re fat or not. You don’t always know what a person is doing at home. For me, it bothered me when I was made fun of when I was fat, it bothered me when people made fun of me when I started losing weight, and guess what... I’m literally like 7lbs from being average for my age and height, but I still feel self conscious. What if they’re ok with being fat? What if they already lost some weight? The fact of the matter is that there will always be big people, so why not respect them.

There are fat people and skinny people. Neither extreme is healthy, and of it were so simple to fix, we'd all be a healthy size. No one should be taught to hate themselves.

As they say here you should be able to accept your size, or other people's size, since elementary school being overweight was a reason to be ridiculed or laughed at. I agree, but as far as being satisfied with your obesity, that perspective might prevent a person from trying to lose the excess weight, not for social acceptance but for health reasons that can be dangerous.

All these comments are gross. I work out, I eat right but thanks to health issues I have to work 100 times harder then most. I would do anything to stay skinny! Genetics also are horrible.
@DaBombDiggidy88
@DaBombDiggidy88 7 жыл бұрын
genetics can only really define ratio of fat storage areas and propensity to addiction. In only extreme cases like monogenic obesity is it a genetic thing. The problem is health education. People actually think that eating food like veggies = weight loss or running 10 minutes = weight loss when the underlying factor is always caloric input vs caloric output while keeping up on general macros for overall health while at a deficit.

Yea that doesn't make sense, if you don't eat fatty foods you won't get fat that's just how it works. It may be harder for you to lose weight but you can still lose it
@Etrielle
@Etrielle 7 жыл бұрын
Akosa117 , what you are saying is absolutely false as not in line with science - at all. if you eat a low fat diet but high carb, you will keep on gaining. stop demonising fat. Actually there is a lot of research that shows that carbohydrates are in fact the problem, and yes, eating too much in general. that being said: you can never fully know what the reasons for someone's obesity are. there are genetic diseases that make some people gain lots of weight and make it hard to lose it even if they eat few calories. the same way like other people who are really skinny all the time even though they eat like pigs, they can just eat anything but there body just doesn't store anything. it's also genetic

Okay let me say my opinion, I totally get people with slow/fast metabolism or any other reason that makes their body extremely unhealthy (too skinny or too fat it doesn’t matter) and they can do nothing to stop it it’s not their fault but what makes me mad that people use body positivity that is made for people who can’t help themselves as an excuse to eat more and not take care of their body. BODY POSITIVITY IS TAKING CARE OF YOUR BODY! IF YOU LOVE YOUR BODY TAKE CARE OF IT’S HEALTH!! Don’t try to starve yourself or overeat please .

Obviously being overweight is unhealthy but I think it's very important to say that there is more to these people and that they shouldn't be judged on their looks, just like everybody else. Their weight might not even be their fault but still all people in the comments seem so be writing is "go exercise" instead of helping them to make a change by following the message of the video and saying "you are more than your body and you are in control of it"
@lizzieborden41

I was really hoping that they were going to make it a full circle video, but I figured it was going to focus on big people. BODY SIZE should include all sizes; thin, thick, short, tall,etc. How many Little People would like to have a voice about how people see them. I'm thin and get a lot of thin shaming from people when I try to complain about not being happy with my body or going up a pant size. I don't judge people for their size, I judge them for their life style. If you are lazy and eat garbage, that's not good. I have become more lazy and am eating more junk so I am gaining weight and can feel how it is affecting my body. I feel fat and there is fat on me, just cause it's not a spare tire doesn't mean I don't have the right to be upset about it.

Not just big people struggle with body size, but also thin people. My daughter gets told she is too skinny, but she can't put on weight. Body size, thin or big, should not define a person. Ever. Comparing ourselves takes away our own identities.

I don't know about ya'll, but in this video I just see some beautiful individuals talking about a our struggle being comfortable with ourselves, and being accepted for who we are. I'm surprised this, and any of the other "How You See Me" videos are getting flack in the comments, SoulPancake can create and share whatever content they'd like, and if someone is that uncomfortable with hearing out people who are part of a minority group, or part of a group that's has been, or still is, oppressed, then that's on them. The human heart has room for a lot of love, and it is sometimes very hard not to judge, but when we are able to let go of our judgement, we can connect, and we are kinder to ourselves and others

I realize body image is a very sensitive topic for many people that are overweight and for people in general, and I realize conditions that cause people to become overweight that are genetic and not their fault. and for those people Doing the best they can with what they're given I commend them and I do not think that they should be criticized. but at the same time I also have observed Those that have not taking care of their body those that have lost the motivation or never I had it in the first place and I have watched them become an unhealthy weight and it is disheartening scary and heartbreaking so for those people we cannot continue to justify their actions Saying that they should not a positive self body image Or a positive perception of themselves There are those that cannot afford it up ignore any longer because they risk hurting themselves as well as those that they love

Eating too much is like being a cigarette smoker. overindulging in elements that aren't needed to survive is not beneficial to overall health. I have no qualms with people who choose to live a life of overeating, smoking, or drinking as long as they accept that. If they're constantly trying to push off blame for their sadness as needed acceptance they must look inward first and foremost. This comes from someone who quit smoking a pack a day and has lost 47lbs in 2 years. The true problem with obesity is education. 99% of people think eating veggies = weight loss or running = weight loss when in reality fat storage or usage is only attributed to caloric expenditure vs caloric intake. These things only help push the scales to one side or another but if i had a nickle for every time i saw someone drink a gatoraid (that completely nullified the caloric loss of a 10 minute run they just did) i'd be a millionaire. Same goes for healthy hive-mind on scary cancer causing diet soda which completely goes against the findings of the FDA. Just take notes on your "healthy/natural/bullshit" articles on how much the products they are trying to sell are and how none of their findings seem to definitively say yes/no OR say at what volume something becomes an issue.

I think it would be cool if y'all did a how you see me with christian pastors and youth pastors. We are misjudged in the world and in our own churches. The world thinks we are bigoted, self righteous, judgmental people that wield the Bible as our right to condemn people for their sins, which don't get me wrong, some pastors are like that. But honestly most just want to show others real authentic love and grace as much as we can and tell others about the Jesus that we truly believe is the Son of God who loves you no matter what. As a pastor, I am just as messed up as everyone else is, I just want to show others the love that has been shown to me.

You could create the same video regarding height, shorter people are ridiculed and teased in our culture. Most American women refuse to date someone who is shorter than them. This gets overlooked because there is nothing the short person can do to overcome these issues, at least if your overweight you have ways of reducing your weight.
