I'm just so done with people bring dicks. Bodybuilders train to look good on stage, powerlifters train to lift heavy on stage, but they both know the feeling of the bar in your hands. We should just let people do their thing as long as they arent being douches. A bodybuilder should look better than a powerlifter, a powerlifter should be stronger than a bodybuilder, there's definitely crossover however expecting a bodybuilder to perform at the level of a powerlifter in powerlifting is like expecting a powerlifter to go 12 rounds in the ring with a boxer. They don't usually max out especially on deads but big guys can usually deadlift 6-7 wheels for reps, not that bad, considering they don't train for this certain movement. @gustavosanches3454
@gustavosanches3454 3 жыл бұрын
Its not that they are lame, its just that we are comparing two different things here. It`s not like any bodybuilder could pull off what elite power lifters do. You don`t need just muscles and training for pulling that insane DL, you need to be blessed with tendons of steel and joints of diamonds. There's a shitload of giant bodybuilders who are literally incapable of doing deadlifts or squats yet they have built an impressive physique regardless. The only issue here is this childish mentality of "my favorite hobby is better than your hobby" creating so much unnecessary drama.

@@gustavosanches3454, not to mention that bodybuilding in and of itself is not exactly the easiest sport in the world either. Assuming that you know and apply each technique to your routine perfectly (which, in and of itself is a monster), bodybuilding includes the addition of very specific diets in order to cut fat and build muscle, something a powerlifter couldn’t possibly comprehend. It’s incredibly stupid to compare the two because it’s like comparing apples to oranges. They have a little grey space where their sports interlap, but that’s about it.

Sumo's not easier, it just depends on your body structure. If sumo was this much easier how come thor or eddie didn't do sumo when they lifted? It just depends on anatomy. But if sumo's so easy, upload a video of you even pulling five plates sumo.

More like a 6-4 or 4-6 if you ask me, a bodybuilder will hardly lift more than a powerlifter and a powerlifter will hardly look as lean and good as a bodybuilder, in any case, i prefer bodybuilding cause imo to get into powerlifting you need to have a special calling in life.

I wish we didn’t fell the need to do this. I’m a “body builder”, so when I lift…my goal isn’t to lift super heavy. More so just lift with proper form and cause as much metabolic stress as I can on my muscle. To grow obviously. Of course I do progressive overload, and do have specific goal weights for squatting and deadlifting. I know other women squat heavier than me, and that is totally cool. Our goals are different. Both of these areas of fitness are admirable; and it shouldn’t be a competition of who’s better at what. Because they are NOT the same.

Powerlifting is a sport dedicated to perfecting 3 particular lifts in order to move as much weight as possible. Bodybuilding may use those lifts as some of the tools to achieve the goal of building larger muscles. Although some bodybuilders are freakishly strong, that's not the emphasis. Also, I think it is disingenuous to conflate judging in competitive bodybuilding contests with an indictment of the sport in general. We can use weight training to build a larger, stronger, more aesthetic physique without regard to the amount of weight being moved and without having any association with bodybuilding competition.
