Remove the dash and check the pins where the plugs plug into the panel. You can take the dash apart and remove the circuit board. Check all the lines on the circuit board for small cracks. I worked at a dealership for many years and we use to solder the circuit boards all the time. they will get little breaks in the connections. the solder tracks will crack where they are soldered to the little pins. They are very easy to repair. sometime the pins in the connector plug just need to be tightened so they make a better connection.

I used to work for international harvester Navistar and there is set of dip switches in the back of that dash you'll have to look up the code to make sure they're in the right orientation other than that it will have to have a dash they were notorious because the printed circuit is not the greatest on the back of them but with the dash sweeping I would almost say it has a dip switch problem and yes the instrument cluster will have to come out of it good luck really nice truck

Clean/replace all of the grounding wiring. Problem with electrolysis on the DT466 series eating through the cylinder liners. Just watched a good video on western truck and tractor repair and Warren is doing a rebuild on a DT466 exactly for that problem.Nice truck overall. Good find.Electronic over mechanical instrument cluster I'd look for a replacement either from salvage yard or aftermarket. On the back of the new one write the install date and mileage off of the old one.

I am not to big of a fan of International trucks how ever those are pretty damn bulletproof from the chassis to the engine and transmission. It will be a great truck and for will be extremely useful whit that bed on it because you will be able to do so many different things with it and if you can't put it on the bed it will be able to pull anything you can throw at it! Put a good hitch on it and get yourself a heavy duty pintle pull equipment trailer instead of a goose neck so you will be Abel to pull any piece of equipment you have including the 2+2 but maybe not the combine lol and with that style trailer you will be able to fit tons of hay bales on it and not lose any bed space like a goose neck trailer. Plus a heavy duty equipment trailer is a fraction of the price compared to a goose neck especially if its a heavy pintle hitch trailer sice most people don't have a truck like yours or a dump truck to haul one around

Good hard working trucks. Instrument cluster goes out in all of them. Don't know why international hasn't recalled or ever took ownership of the issues. You'll get tired of the damn mirrors swinging on ya. Keep clean fuel and filters changed she'll run long time. Gear stick will jump out and bind between gears, never force it in gear if it want take it without force don't send it in, easy fix tho just got to pull up rubber boot and unbolt the stick from top the transmission and pull it out take pry bar and slide gears all back in neutral drop stick back in and tear out again

I had the same factory single-arm box on my 6600 and it never gave a moment's trouble in the 15 years we owned the tractor... Hmm, yellow under the blue, idk about Ohio but in my state that would make me suspicious it was a highway department mowing tractor, something they typically don’t do at night either, just FYI don’t be hesitant to ever move to air brakes, they are a whole different world of stopping! Again idk Ohio but getting a CDL isn’t that bad I’ve had one since ‘90 trained about 10 guys over the years only had one fail to pass and it was my fault they changed one of the maneuvers and I didn’t know about it , I guess you could pass easily.
