This video presents the bells c#1 -e1 -f#1 -g#1 -h1 [do#3 -mi3 -fa#3 -sol#3 -si3] of St Martin's in Boettingen, southern Germany.
➥ After the First World War, there was only a hull chime left in St Martin's. This was replaced in 1921 by a new five-part chime from the Gebrüder Bachert foundry in Kochendorf. This was probably fitted with an electric ringing system at the time, the motors of which are still present today but are no longer used.
After the Second World War, only the smallest bell [5] remained. It was complemented in 1950 by four new instruments from the Grueninger foundry. These new bells were cast in the light bell shape.
Despite this light shape, the full peal sounds surprisingly voluminous from the tower. While the smaller bells still sound a little thin, the two larger instruments produce a remarkable volume. The recent refurbishment with the massive clappers is certainly not counterproductive in terms of sound.
