This video presents the bells h0 -d1 -e1 -f#1 [~a1]-a1 [si2 -re3 -mi3 -fa#3 [~la3] -la3 of St. George's in Klettgau - Erzingen.
The historic bell [VI] of St George's originally comes from the Rhineland. It was cast in 1517 by Johan van Alfter and used to ring in the parish church of St George in Frauenberg (Euskirchen). When and how it came to Erzingen is unknown to me.
After the Second World War, a new peal was considered. This was finally cast in 1954 by the bell foundry Petit & Edelbrock in Gescher. The tone of the existing historic bell was doubled and since then it has mostly been used as a solo bell.
The full peal is very powerful and benefits greatly from the dynamic setting of the entire ensemble. The historic bell stands little chance against the heavy-shaped smaller bells of the modern peal.
