Hello again.
This is a very special portrait that came out almost by itself...In this particular case I didn't wanted to smooth the surface but to keep as much as possible the pastel strokes. The textures..Hope you´ll like it!

I have looking for my medium for two years. I'm a sketcher at heart, and pastels feel like a natural thing to me compared to other mediums I've tried like water colour and acrylic. Watching you do your joy with pastels was actually a joy to watch. I feel like I know where to begin, now. Thank you so much for sharing skills and joy with the rest of us. KZfaq is a magical place for artists who can't afford expensive art classes. Best place to learn. Thanks, again! Peace and love. :)

+FunkyLittleWhiteGirl "KZfaq is a magical place for artists who can't afford expensive art classes" I agree with that statement soooo much. I feel like 90% of my artistic education has just come from watching KZfaqrs, such as this very talented portraitist.

Exactly. KZfaq is a visual delight for any artist who wants to learn a new technique. I thought art education in British schools was dire but when you have such fine examples and exponents available on youtube, then why not use that medium to teach and encourage youngsters instead?

Beautiful. At the end, when you were working on his suit and tie, it looked like you were adjusting his tie for him, and he was sitting there patiently waiting for you to finish. Really lovely. Thank you.

True Artist, you are Graciela. Love the use of Photo. Few Artists use photos in their demonstrations so you never know if there is an actual likeness... but not with you... we can see the ongoing relationship between your work and the photo. ... thank you so much for so freely sharing your amazing talents to the world!

Really very educational but would have like a list of the equipment used i.e. type of paper, make of pastels, oil or soft. Apart from this, I feel greatly encouraged to pursue my hobby of portrait painting with pastels.

Wow, you're amazingly talented! You not only have great technical skills but you bring the person to life on paper (which is another skill altogether). I've seen some technically brilliant pictures (hyper-realistic ones usually) that seem like a flat photograph and leave me a bit cold emotionally. Keep up the great work! 😀
