I like the idea of a club World Cup, essentially the champions league on a larger scale, but there’s no time for it. FIFA forgets that players rely on the summer to rest and train and take care of their bodies.

Like Shaka I like this 4 year cycle idea in theory. However, they need to reduce it to maybe 24 or 16 teams where the previous 4 champions from each confederation or something similar are grouped up and play less games than a 32 team tournament. The players need rest!

What has been overlooked in the press conference was FIFA are also adding a world series tournament every Euro and World Cup year in March.

This will be great for clubs in Africa, Middle East and South American will benefit greatly from this exposure.

If they want another tournament, it should be a non ranking B squad tournament. No regular starters allowed! 😂

I guess I'm one of the few who enjoyed the previous format of the FIFA World Club Cup with only the champions from each confederation. I also liked the FIFA Confederations Cup.

Funny how every year we have the same conversations about overworking players and yet we get more and more pointless games added… Nations League, Expanded CWC, Swiss Model UCL, 48 team WC… where does it end???

They are being greedy. They got to be careful before they saturate the market and people get tired of soccer. NFL is starting to get that problem too

Of course everyone from Europe and S. America would not like the idea of an expanded WC with added "aspiring" teams. This is simply gate keeping so that top-performing teams would monopolize the tournament and not face upsets as we have seen in recent iterations. If the 48 version will only add 1 or 2 games to the finalists, a week can simply be added and hundreds of millions (if not a billion+) of people would be over the moon seeing their teams playing and developing at a global stage. I see no reason why Switzerland or Peru should have more chances of playing than India or Nigeria, other than to keep the unfair status quo

Love the idea. The current one is a joke. We know every May or June who the winner is by seeing who wins the UEFA Champions League. This would Brígida competitiveness and a chance for lesser known teams to grow and get brand exposure

It’s actually a pretty cool idea unlike the super league. I mean wouldn’t it be amazing if some random club wins over a big European team? I mean it also helps other clubs and countries economy as well, yes fifa want more money, but this also helps not just fifa but the clubs in different countries. Also every 4 years? That doesn’t seem too bad. Many of the best clubs have so much depth, it could be b-team players and one or two could show up and maybe get a chance to play with the better players during the regular season. I mean, does anyone think the other tournaments came just appeared one day? I don’t understand how people don’t recognize that football like everything else is ever changing. Rules change so things can be more fair. Do you think football is the exact same sport it was even 15 years ago? What about 5 subs per game and an extra sub in extra time? That’s amazing, players are overplayed and could get injuries if they don’t get subbed off.

This might get traction from the top clubs who may not fancy the current format in december

Where this would be in the off season in the Northern hemisphere it would be slap bang in the middle of the Southern hemisphere's season. So when you have Craig Burley saying players need a rest yes if this was only a European thing true but its a world thing. The current format works and should be left at that the best of the best battling it out for the world title.

We are actually bored watching Eibar, Burnley, Maccabi, Dusseldorf and Spezia games. Every European competition has boring games. I think this club world cup is very good idea. Maybe European leagues reduce the amount of teams in their divisions. Also ucl group stage is so boring. I'm with FIFA on this one.

After awarding the 2 million strong Qatar with organizing a WC finals ahead of Japan, S Korea and Australia with the total disruption the normal international football schedule so to accommodate them nothing that FIFA might " propose" can surprise me... Abolishing the FIFA Confederations Cup was a big mistake by FIFA, replacing the current club world cup held every four years. Not good for UEFA at all. I don't know how the other Confederations feel.

Football has a problem with too many meaningless tournaments that really don't mean much. World cup, euro's, league championship, euro champions league and copa libertadores are the only tournaments that mean something. The rest are plastic trophies

The _FIFA Club World Cup_ has existed for decades and it involves the 6 continental club champs plus the host competing against each other. I don't think it should be 32 teams. It could be held every 2 years and therefore expanded to 14 teams. The 6 continental club champs multiplied by 2 for each year (runner up in case same club was 2x champ), plus 2 host teams, with the tournament being hosted in 2 neighboring countries. The reason nobody tends to care about it is because, despite being held every year, it's only held in four countries (Japan, UAE, Morocco, Qatar). Why not spread it around to different parts of Asia and Africa as a way to promote the event and the sport alike? Not to mention that holding them in Gulf monarchies feels completely forced and tastless and the host constantly gets their team in tournament without qualifying. Why not do an event that's held in Kazakhstan/Uzbekistan, another one in Malaysia/Indonesia, another one in Algeria/Tunisia, another one in West Africa, etc. Spread the name and reputation of the tournament around, and allow fans in underserved markets to get to see the top clubs of the world.

As a fan I have to say there are some ideas I have liked and some things I have not. I think the idea of a Fifa club world cup with 32 teams and every 4 years is a horrible idea. I personally liked the fact it was an annual competition to be honest, although the tournament is considered more with higher prestige in South America then in Europe which is a shame. I don't mind a few more teams like 16 would be fine, but 32 is way too many. I also don't like the fact Fifa cancelled the Fifa Confederations Cup instead of expanding the tournament with a few more teams to make it more interesting. The Olympic games for the men's tournament has lost prestige and importance since it became a under 23 and amateur world cup. I think honestly Fifa should just do a Fifa Under 23 World Cup for the under 23 players, and leave the World Cup and Olympics for the men's professional senior teams and women's professional senior teams, as I seen the women are allowed to play in full force in the Olympics and not the men's team. It would be nice for Fifa to make new world rankings for best club teams in the world, to see how other clubs in the world stack up maybe use the Elo world football-soccer rankings for the under 23 national teams, under 20 national teams and under 17 national teams which would be interesting to see. I don't think i am going to care about the Fifa Club world cup every 4 years to be honest, given the only thing Fifa will do by doing this is make the UEFA champions League the most important tournament in the world, given the Libertadores which is the South American club championship the 2nd most important in terms of high level competition. I would personally love to see golden goal, silver goal, bronze goal 3rd extra time rule with the first five minute golden goal wins the game, second five minutes a silver goal worth 2 goals and last five minutes a bronze goal worth one instead of heading to Penalty kicks after the 2 extra times of 15 minutes. It is more just then deciding a championship on penalties having a 3rd extra special time.

I think this is good chance for PSG & Man City will be participating in Club World Cup in 2025 if both team make it into Quarter finals Champions League!
