Pro tip: Apple says that placing tape over your web camera can perma-damage your screen, leading to screen cracking. This isn't covered under apple's warranty. Do with that information whatever you wish :-)

I broke my escape key trying to clean up a bit of coffee that had spilled and thought it would remove like a traditional key. After trying to press it back in it would remain stuck and wouldn't spring back up. I noticed I messed up the two clips on the upper portion of the key, but after searching the Internet for what seemed forever, I couldn't find anything about the new MacBook keyboards. Really glad I came across this video.....

Yes, unfortunately, I almost completely broke mine on my MacBook Air M2. I still got it removed, but then I realized when I installed it again that it doesn't matter where the top and bottom should be. Then I went to Apple and wanted to have a spare part clear that they don't do that but I wanted to have at least tried it. They told me it would be a damage of 600-800€. They wanted to replace almost the entire MacBook except the display and the trackpad. In the evening I managed to reinstall the button. To this day, it is going well but is minimally wrong.

I had and used a 2010 MacBook pro for DJing untill like a week ago, when I got a 2019 MacBook Air, and you could not take the keys off of the 2010, so that was a looooooong time ago

Apple themselves said its preferable that you don't cover your webcam with anything because of the gap is so tiny between the screen and the palm rest but they also said if you absolutely need to cover your webcam then you can use anything with a thickness less than 0.1mm basically as thick as regular paper also not to use anything that leaves adhesive residue. There are some products available which are like stickers which go on the webcam or if you got sticky notes color it black and use it if you don't have black sticky notes. Sticky notes are a cheap fix and safe to use as well.

This applies for other laptop keyboards. That's how I managed to not properly remove many of my tiny Function keys on my HP Pavilion gaming laptop and end up with broken tabs on the keycaps. 😅

To replace a keycap on the new MacBook take it to the Apple store and when they say you need to buy a new laptop because it's a write-off spend over 3000 dollars on another new laptop with subpar specs (unless you only wanna use Adobe software)
