Bolt SRNA I was a 68WM6 in the Army (enlisted medic and nurse). Currently working towards finishing my BSN on the Army’s dime. Wouldn’t change any of it for the world

Currently a first-year SRNA, I've been in the Army Reserves for 8 years. First, as a 42 R (army bandsman) and presently a 66S (ICU nurse).

Good video gentlemen. I was accepted to the army’s crna program (us army graduate program in anesthesia nursing). Which is another option Free school, make about 75K while in school and free healthcare

@@navycruise for the active duty programs it’s 42 (they might do an age waiver if over). For the reserves it’s 48 (again they might entertain an age waiver if your close)

Thanks for your videos, am a SGT medic in the army Reserves and I just finished nursing school. My goal was to active duty CRNA but because of family and stability, I am convinced that STRAP stipend and the 60k loan repayment devied in thirds for 3 years is way to go especially since I can RST my BAs and get that time counting towards my payback and also get paid while doing it. That's a massive opportunity. Offcourse I have a long way to go, since I start my GN orientation and have to get my at least 1.5 to 2 years experience before even thinking about putting up a packet plus GRE plus CCRN and maybe CMC,CSC and 1 or 2 graduate level courses. But am all in and will get it done. Just a heads up to anyone who is already in the reserves, STRAP paperwork and application is handled by your unit and not the recruiter so just talk to the necessary NCOs incharge and get it done. Wish you guys all the best

Rob, did you go through Nursing school in the Reserves and not have to commit to any Active Duty time afterwards? I am a civilian Medic and want to go to Nursing school so that one day I can try to get into CRNA school as well. The recruiter in my area made it sound like I'd have to go Active Duty in order to make this happen.... And I called a AMEDD Recruiter and they said they only help people that have their nursing degrees... I'm so confused on what to do....

Some things to mention. By law an employer cannot terminate someone due to military obligation so if you deployed, you won’t lose your job. If you want to do full time military the army has 2 programs that will pay you a full time salary to attend a doctorate program for crna through USAGPAN program or USUHS, both high ranked programs. Then there is HPSP which is typically used for doctors MD or DO but can be applied to crna in some cases which you go to school anywhere while in the reserves then owe time. The biggest downside is you will generally make less in the military as a CRNA, but with bonuses and tax free allowances it is comparable to the national average and you are sometimes able to moonlight for additional pay. I was a medic for 4 years in the army currently in a BSN program and thinking about using one of these programs down the road.

Samuel Cabrera usagpan can be easily searched and it is a program where you enter directly into crna school. There is also uniformed service university which is the military med school. They have a crna program similar to usagpan but it is only available for active duty service members. I spoke to a recruiter with hopes to rejoin after school and they said there is currently only positions if you have a year of experience. I am also class of 2021 for my bsn.

@@navycruise I think the blanket cutoff for service is 42, but with prior service and a specialty program like CRNA it could probably be waived depending on situation. Stuff like that is probably case by case. I would guess anything over 50 though would be a hard no, but when I served I knew an NCO who joined active duty at 50 bc he had like 12 years reserve experience, so it’s hard to say. I’d say email the closest ammed recruiter with your specific scenario and they will point you in the right direction

Hey Bolt, sometimes I have long commutes and it’s difficult to stream videos while driving. (Don’t worry just listening not watching) You should consider converting the sound bits from your videos to podcast. Maybe I’m the only one who has this problem but hey I’d subscribe to it. Thanks for all the content! Cheers!

Army national guard in TN doesn’t have CRNA’s, but this differs by state. The Air national guard has CRNA’s in that state. This varies by state of course
