Bolzano and Seceda are definitely top on my bucket list for Italy when we go in about 2 years from now. Switzerland this year, Greece next year, and Italy in 2026!

This is really interesting. The different influences and maybe where they came from, a very good idea for your channel. Quality content again. When I first went to Italy, I arrived in Bolzano and they were speaking German in the place I worked. I was so confused, because it was Italy…

Thanks so much! It's a strange place, with a ton of cultural mixing. We really wanted to convey that.

You are so right about what you said about all the alpine regions beeing so similar, even though there are different languages being spoken and it is especially great to see how the bordering cultures have been incopurated. In the end we are all related anyway, one big human family. Sounds Kitsch but still it's so true.

:D Thank you! It's very weird to use when travel YTers make a big deal about crossing borders. Usually the cultural regions are very similar,.

Bolzano looks great. We are driving from Verona to Salzburg in September and are trying to decide between stopping at Bolzano or Innsbruck for lunch. Touch choice, but this definitely adds some great information. Keep up the great work...

Yes that is a tough choice! I would go with Bolzano. I think there is a little more to do. Innsbruck is nice though.

09:26 - loved the sayings on these signs: Der Wein schadet Dir aber du solltest ihm verzeihen. Ein Trottel kann selbst die Welt unrundet haben, er wird trotzdem als Trottel zurückkommen. The wine harms you but you should pardon him. A moron may have circumnavigated the world himself, after all he will still get back as a moron.

well, tyrol was a part of bavaria in the middle ages and from 13.century on sometimes until 1806.
@michaelgrabner8977

@@nikomangelmann6054 Always only some small parts of Tyrol (= here and there just a valley or just a town) and never at no time Tyrol as a whole...so saying "Tyrol was part of Bavaria in the middle ages is therefore not correct and just a typical bavarian exxageration far away from the actual truth when it actually were just some small parts of it"....just saying. Just during the Napoleon wars Bavaria occupied it for a short period of time but couldn´t hold it and got kicked in the ass several times by the Tyrolean population who weren´t even soldiers but just farmers...which is even today a huge part of the "Tyrolean Pride" because the leader of that farmer´s revolt against the Bavarians "Andreas Hofer" is worshipped as "Hero" for bavarian asskicking and - omnipresent - over whole Tyrol .

Well Südtirol became part of Italy because Austria lost WW1. BUT that happened on the conference table as a consequence of the peace treaty of St. Germain and not because Italy conquered it because they didn´t although they tried heavily but got always defeated by the Austrians. And Südtirol is now the only part in Italy which is "autonome" = not governed by the goverment in Rome as like as they do in the rest of Italy.

I think there is also the Aostatal, French Speaking Autonom region in italy.
@michaelgrabner8977
@michaelgrabner8977 2 жыл бұрын
@@benbecker2226 Yes, you are right, but that is a bit different and not really comparabel, because those people living there were always fine being part of Italy and never did ask or fight for autonomy. In fact their autonomy was basically "forced against their will" to them by the Italian Goverment...I know that sounds now awkward but I will explain. That smalll valley "Valle d´Aosta" which was once part of Savoy was then part of the Kingdom of Italy since 1861. And in that valley are living just round about a little bit over 15% native french speaker and the rest which is the vast majority are native Italians. Valle d´Aosta got autonome a bit later than Südtirol and not because of the a bit over 15% native french speaking people living there as like as in Südtirol where the vast majority are Tyroleans parted from mainland Tyrol and therefore never stopped fighting against being part of Italy until they got their autonomy. Valle d´Aosta solely got autonomy because Italy wanted to avoid the annexion of Valle d´Aosta by France as war reperation for WW2....basically the Italian Goverment was avoiding France to do with them exactly what they did with Südtirol and Austria after WW1 by giving a tiny minority of native French speaking people an unasked autonomy....just saying.

South Tyrol is not Italy. And it is "Bozen", not "Bolzano". You should not use the occupiers language.
