Colton is such a gentle soul. The way that both Bombi the cat and Lincoln respond and gravitate towards him tells us everything we need to know about his kind character. I'm enjoying seeing Whiskers getting a bit of love. Whiskers too could do with a good sandblast and a fresh coat of paint. Not to mention new windows of its own. Nevertheless, there are more important things to do on it before even contemplating making it look good. I absolutely loved the 'day off disclaimer'. It was hilarious.

Robby, I have been an electrician for 40 plus years and used every type of wire connector. Solder sticks are a game changer. I just did a complete wiring harness build on a 86 dodge ram and these things literally cut the time in half

I had to tear down into the engine valley of a newer chevy colorado and fix a chewed fuel injector wire. Used a solder stick. 8 months later it came back with an intermittent misfire, I had to go back in to fix it right.

Then I used them to fix a chopped bumper harness on the car side from an accident on a newer rav4. 10 mo later came back with intermittent Park sensor faults and the shop had to pay to have a new chassis harness installed. We ARE NOT allowed to use solder sticks anymore. Garunteed to fail, not today not tomarrow, but will fail.

@@jondavid5871that because solder in a vibration prone environment like vehicles will work hardened and break/crack. Does the OEM ever solder factory wire harness, nope there are all crimped. also using solder in the high heat area of the motor is dumb as solder stick use low temperature solder.

I sure hope those SolderStick connectors are as good as you say. I just ordered some. I've always soldered wires together and used heat shrink. I'm doing a job right now where that really isn't feasible. Looking forward to trying these SolderSticks and the new heat gun. As for Whiskers. That's a relatively simple wire harness. Probably 60's era. The fuse block is a little prehistoric but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I specialized in automotive wiring for years. Finally got smart and got out of it when they turned cars into rolling computers. That's complicated. Whiskers, not so much. That wiring harness (for lack of a better word) should be fairly east to fully remove. sit it on the shop floor, trace the wires and replace every one you need to use and discard the unnecessary ones. Trying to cobble a wiring harness like that together always leads to problems down the road. that can be a real pain to trace and repair. Just an old retired mechanic wanting to pass along a few words of wisdom from many years of experience. You have the knowledge. You have the ability. You can do it. I have faith. LOL Good luck with it.

Nice Bridgeport, now you need to get a Kurt vice, a set of R8 collets, some end mills and slot drills and a few tungsten carbide face mills and also a three axis digital readout, then you will have a very versatile machine.

Nice job getting a Bridgeport Robby! Fun fact, the horizontal milling machine is the only machine capable of reproducing itself. Now you need material holding and setup items, tooling and cutters and a digital readout. Have fun figuring out all the things you can make now. Machining is super fun!

Robby - Best place to start & finish the door seal is in the middle of the bottom. Also, never stretch the seal. Add more than what's needed at first, cause it shrinks. Maybe add some tiny angle bar over bottom to clamp seal into place. Seal will stay on when they drag their feet over it.

SolderStick connectors are excellent!! I used to build the machines and robotics that process raw silicon wafers into finished microchips; we used a similar commercial product! When I saw this stuff on the open market I was STOKED!!

I'm glad to see you're getting a milling machine. I was a machinist for 41 years before I retired. The milling machines we had in our shop were some of the most versatile tools we had. The one you purchased looks like it has a Jacob's truck so you could see it's also used for precision drilling. You should get an attachment that's uses a light pressure liquid mist on the tools when using high speed tooling not to be used on carbides.

How do you get the solder to melt in the smallest ones without melting the plastic insulation? Every time I try to use them the plastic melts before the solder.

I know y'all love those modern electronic light controllers. But Whiskers had such a nice, old-school, silk-screened dash panel. I'd have run a master switch to a 12v + bus bar under the hinged panel and direct-wired your lights through individual toggles, using the stock holes. No relays are needed for such a short run. Then the master controls power to the lights with each toggle acting as a pre-selector. Would have taken no time at all.

Robby, I think you should put that stick on sound deader on the inside of the bombi and whiskers and cover the inside panels with some light flexible material. This will provide insulation and the inner panel will prevent the cold transfer to the interior. Boom mat is expensive but probably tyvek.

This wiring reminds me of an old truck we had at work years ago, we pulled out all the wiring and completely rewired the whole thing, best thing we ever did, no issues afterwards. Good job.. as Colton was working on back, I wanted to grab a can of adhesive to give him to fix that one sagging wall cover. LOL

Wow the Boss Lady made the seat look awesome. ❤❤ Robby when we made wiring harness for boats , take a piece of plywood and layout things like switches and gauges. Then run enough wire out to get where it needs to go. Label the wires and carry onward. That's a nice ole Bridgeport, be prepared to drop some $$ on tooling and a DRO for it.😊

Robbie, kitties like heights. If you don't want them on your stuff, make him his own soft comfy perch up high and give him some sort of steps to use. It will make him feel safe with all the loud noises. Also kitties don't like to be forced to do anything. Treat them like you treat "the boss": they do what they want when they want how they want.

Bridgeport spinal is an R-8, when buying collets and or End Mill holders remember to order R-8. The table slot for a hold down kit, order a kit that is for a 5/8” table slot. Purchase a dial indicator with magnetic base. Purchase leveling pads for the base. Level the machine, test the table being level with the dial indicator. If not level nothing you mill will come out as you expect. There are an item on the table called a gib. Which is a length of metal kind of shaped in a triangle pattern. There are screws to adjust the gib’s to help keep the table level and actuate during movement. Sometimes the gibs can be worn out that they need to be replaced. Good luck. Oh also odds are the Mill is 220/240 3phase power so make sure you have the 3phase available. If not you might look at a phase converter. I would go with a Rotary type rather then a Static type converter.

My uncle worked for Bridgeport Machines in Bridgeport, CT for decades as a foreman before they were bought out in the early 00's. Those milling machines last forever.

The Bridgeport mill in the machine shop in High School was our metals teacher John Connolly’s pride and joy. He always had a smile when teaching anyone how to use it. We had to be super careful with it and clean it well. He’d keep you late for next class if you didn’t clean it well enough! 😄
