The picturesque town of Peebles nestles in the rolling hills of the Scottish Borders some 30 miles south of Edinburgh. It is a tranquil place and well worth visiting to enjoy a peaceful stroll by the River Tweed. It comes as a shock, therefore, to learn that 80 years ago, the bombs of the German Luftwaffe, rained down across this gentle town. WW2 left its mark on the hills around Peebles.
