He has mentioned either in an interview for video or film magazine? that he actually went and talked to the producers of the Bond movies, and that they didn't feel he was the right fit for them. So he did do the whole 007 audition thing. Pitty as he obviously is the choice for the new Bond.

I haven't seen a Bond movie in its entirety since "Tomorrow Never Dies" with Pierce Brosnan. I was also a big fan of Roger Moore, who was especially brilliant in films like "The Spy Who Loved Me", "The Man with the Golden Gun", and "Moonraker". To me, Cavill embodies the spirit of Roger Moore and, ultimately, James Bond . I read that Cavill was a finalist for the role almost two decades ago and performed brilliantly during his audition. Cavill was passed over for Craig solely because he was "too young" at the time. Well, now that he is older and has the experience of several blockbusters under his belt ("Man of Steel", "Mission Impossible"), he's ready. I would go back to the theater to see Cavill as 007.

When I saw Pierce Brosnan in Remington Steele I said he was the perfect Bond. I grew up watching Roger Moore and loved him as Bond. Henry Caville was my choice a few years ago already. Was never mad about Daniel Craig. Bond is meant to be suave, humerous, (Moore and 'Q') and the movie itself full of action and ever so 'slightly' unrealistic. Perfect escapism.

No. Craig? No.

I don't know but maybe part of the reason they picked Connery was because they were trying to stay true to the source material and he had a Scottish lilt to his voice (apparently, the main thing was that even with his size, he "moved like a panther").

Seriously if they don’t give Henry Cavill the part of James Bond, after waiting nearly 20 years to be given the part after being turned down when he was 22 years old for being told then he was too young to play the role, he should be given the chance now to play the role as he would make a fantastic James Bond, better than Craig was and he was born to play the part. Sir Sean Connery, mastered the roll and to this day is my favorite. Many great actors followed, but I believe Henry Cavill, would fit the roll as well as Sir Connery did. For an actor, it's a major undertaking, I'm sure the franchise will look for a long-term commitment. He is in high demand and is working on several rolls now. As a producer he would be my choice $$. For everybody saying Henry is too old: Henry Cavill age right now: 41 Sean Connery in Dr No: 32 (looked older) George Lazenby in OHMSS: 30 (looked older) Roger Moore in Live and Let Die: 46 Timothy Dalton in Living Daylights: 41 Pierce Brosnan in GoldenEye: 42 Daniel Craig in Casino Royale: 38 Aaron Taylor-Johnson is 33 and doesn’t have the looks to play older than he is.

Sadly no. They chose Aaron Taylor-Johnson (kick ass actor) for the new James Bond, despite reports that Cavill hit his screen test out of the park. They got everyone hopes up for a while but apparently neither Henry or his fans seem to be able to get a break.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is a relatively unknown actor. I think that’s a good formula for Bond. Though Cavil is well known, he could never be a wrong or bad choice either.

I would love it if that was real. Henry Cavill would be amazing, but they are using an American accent, which is not Bond nor Cavill. I think that would be a great casting, but they have already officially casted Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the role for a 3 movie contract.

In 2006, in the audition for Casino Royale, Cavill was told he was "too young" to be Bond, now he (40y) says himself "I might be too old" :) Looks perfect to me!

Feel like we could have gotten audio of him with his natural accent. Also sure there is audio of him saying James Bond somewhere in an interview so we could get the classic "Bond...James Bond" in this. Finally, Bond theme. Need it even if it is very abstracted.
