Stocks are falling and bond yields are rising, but markets still don’t seem convinced the Federal Reserve will pursue plans to keep increasing interest rates until inflation is under control. I'm still at a crossroads deciding if to liquidate my $138k stock portfolio, what’s the best way to take advantage of this bear market?

While there’s more pain to come, investors should look for stocks like Royal Philips NV and Alstom SA that have been beaten down enough that they’re a bargain or get a good portflio manager

Agreed, I've been consulting with a Financial Analyst for about 8 months. While it's easy to invest in trending stocks, knowing when to sell is crucial, and my manager helps with entry and exit points. I'm 40% up in profits in just 5 months with my initial capital of $160k.

The FED knows. They aren't committed to attacking inflation. They are going to continue to inflate, stocks and commodities will continue to go up with everything else. You can't just sit on cash waiting for a crash, get your money working for you, start buying in slowly and then gradually increase the pace of buying as the prices continue to drop.

It's often true that people underestimate the importance of financial advisors until they feel the negative effects of emotional decision-making. I remember a few summers ago, after a tough divorce, when I needed a boost for my struggling business. I researched and found a licensed advisor who diligently helped grow my reserves despite inflation. Consequently, my reserves increased from $275k to around $850k.

I never hear anyone talking about recession risk. It's always about inflation and booming economy. I think I would join him in his view. Because we are still in the same boat as before 2020 but people shifted to the other side of the boat but the fundamentals are still the same. Low growth, lower inflation and higher debt levels and worsening demographics. That means we are in for a serious deflationary crisis. The debt bubble has just gone a little bit higher, but the risk are now even higher than before 2020. I think he is right

I'm surprised nobody talks about the circular relationship between covid stimulus and treasury issuance. The government printed trillions of dollars in stimulus and gave it to consumers, but they couldn't spend it right away because of lockdowns, so they put it in their bank accounts (bank deposits exploded), banks had an influx of cash and had nothing they could do with it (credit applications collapsed because people had money), so banks bought treasuries in huge quantities, thereby financing the government's ability to print more money to give to people. Now people have spent that stimulus (bank deposits are falling for the first time in history), while the deficit is still extremely large, so there will be an influx of longer-duration treasury issuance while there is less money to buy those treasuries. This means rates will be structurally higher unless the government increases taxes or cuts spending.

Based upon some analysts: Felix Zuelsdof/Lacy Hunt from a year ago. Bonds yields to rise (they have) then Bond yields to drop this/next year/ then Stagflation w/ yields going way up. So...Buy Bonds/Sell Bonds/Buy Bonds. Equities? Need to be even more nimble. For me I’m staying out of equities till I’m not, which might be a year, perhaps more, perhaps less? I pulled out Stocks and Bonds early Jan,2022 with 90% portfolio into 6mth T-Bills/Money market. As Howard Marks says: “It’s not what you Buy - it’s what you Pay”

I value Macro Alf’s input. But before I give anybody’s opinion serious consideration I like to “fact check” their credentials. The fact that he graduated in 2014 and joined ING immediately, without significant prior experience, raises questions about whether he would have been entrusted with such a senior role managing a $20 billion portfolio, especially considering the global prominence of ING. Additionally, the absence of press releases or public statements from ING regarding his tenure as the Head of Investments and Portfolio Manager of Fixed Income adds to the skepticism. Typically, financial institutions announce significant appointments, especially at leadership levels, to showcase their team's expertise. It's worth noting that titles like "Head of Investments" can vary in meaning, ie., US mkt, Japan, China, emerging mkt, EU, etc. However, given the magnitude of the portfolio mentioned and the global stature of ING, there might be reasonable skepticism surrounding the clarity and accuracy of Alfonso Peccatiello's professional claims.

Alf is great as always. However, it is dangerous to become a slave to the last 40 years of data. If you back 50 years today’s “longest, deepest” inverted yield curve looks normal ie for a stagflationary environment. The fixation on higher financing costs is fine, but please do not miss the higher ability to meet these costs thanks to inflation increasing nominal wages and nominal revenues.

For me they will cut. Between assets prices on the bank balance sheets aka loans on properties vs inflation. The banks will call uncle first and once assets fall below a certain price people stop paying their mortgages. And that will simply implode the banks. So before that happens they will need to reduce interest rates to prop up the asset prices.

Yeah man. No one can take the Feds per away. Definitely not Congress or the president. And Congress without a doubt has their shit together. No doubt there. Never seen Powell buckle to threats of a president either.

This dude missed the entire bull run from start of the year and now is given a platform to talk about the bond market disaster- and say “I told you so”. dude anybody could have spotted that from a mile away.

The negative sentiment about bonds in these comments are incuraging seeing as I decided to start a position in TLT yesterday. seems like a pretty sweet r/r to me. If it gets down around 83 I will load up and if it breaks below 80 I will have to decrease and reconsider. precious metals and now tlt best r/r trades I see out there. Also I like meta because it just does not look like it wants to drop with the market and it is totally possible the tech AI rally is not ready to turn over yet.

i'd love to trade tlt but not enough capital to capitalize on it. can buy long-term call options but given the uncertainty around how long we might be in this situation, may not work out. otherwise, i'd be selling puts.

I figured WEX55T headed up in a big way. SCHIFF came out and declared that Bitcoin wont be going back to highs. Do the opposite of what that guy says.

You can call WEX55T bots but that does not change the fact that the shill is absolutely deserved. Out of all launches we had, talk about ETH, talk about XRP, talk about all these new chains but WEX55T breaks everything
