in this video, I show you how to bond concrete to existing concrete, first, you got to score up the existing concrete using a saw/cutter then you have to prime up the area, also add the primer to your mix just follow the instructions on the label I also added concrete fiber mesh follow instructions on this to. The concrete slab went from 4inch to 18mm over 8foot: I also used a Marshalltown edging trowel to get a perfect finish on the concrete including the finish from existing concrete to the new. In the concrete was 12mm rebar mesh:

This was a great help. I’m a carpenter over 50 years and now retired. I’ve done quite serious work in the wet trades with acceptable results. Always looking for techniques with the wet trades and you’ve given me some more! Thank you. Love the fibre mix and the admixture tips, especially for external patches like these. I bought a poker for pouring my basement walls and worked out great. I just wondered if you’d perhaps use some form of vibration in placing your patch here, not overly much but some to consolidate? Obviously not a 2” poker but what I don’t know.

Thanks man this is a really nice of you to say great comment shout out to all the old school carpenters out there my dad is one he's 76 now 👍 Yeah a poker is a great tool to use when your doing concrete with steel in it the mesh I used was only 10mm thick and the vibration of the tamp did the pokers work for me you never stop learning mate and me personally I like to learn then it never leaves you ,Thank you very much for stopping by the vid and I hope you have a fantastic retirement you go easy man you've done your bit 👏👏👏👏👌👌👌🫡 All the best thanks 👊

@@creativecrambo thanks for the content. Like the channel. I did a join similar on a driveway many years ago and we used the chemical joiner but did not use fibre in the cement and it cracked.

For the concrete connection layer, you have to roll the connection layer and then pour concrete right away, right? Roll it so it dries out the connecting layer?

Is the primer just concrete glue? What is the fiber has to do with bonding? You need to vibrate the new concrete for a better surface to surface adhesion.

If the concrete is subjected to heavy traffic I would had chipped in a 25 mm step at the sloped joining section. Should be fine for foot traffic

If I pour concrete retaining wall one section at a time leaving rebar sticking out to tie into the next section and keying new wall into the old one, is it likely to leak and stopping me from installing stone veneer on top of the cold joint successfully? Is there a method to do this successfully? Thank you

Hi Hos thanks for stopping by the vid mate 👍 Normally when I do a retaining wall say using hollow concrete blocks with rebar I'd normally get the concrete in the blocks then the next day do the face work plus work from expansion joint to expansion joint if that makes sense not sure what retaining wall your doing but sounds like you need the concrete to set before you move on to the next part so you don't get any bleeding through from the concrete thanks for your feedback mate appreciate it 👍 👊

Do you recommend anything for curing? Thanks.
@creativecrambo
@creativecrambo 2 жыл бұрын
Curing is a process of a chemical reaction with the cement and what you put in to that cement , I'd recommend 2 days before you walk on freshly laid concrete give it a week and you can drive on it , if you were to add a hardener epoxy resin into the mix it would go off very quick and you would struggle to get a finish on the concrete the best results are to let the concrete harden up itself then get the final finish, thanks for stopping by the vid Michael 👊👍👍.

@creativecrambo hahaha sorry!!! I got a concrete slab made for a shed. It's been 3 months not put the shed up, and I think due to freeze thaw weather it's sides have crumbled a bit and the top layer has all spalled/is peeled off. So like if I brush it it'll all just come off. The sides, on some parts have gone in due to the cocnrete falling off

If I need to add an inch to existing concrete for height. To level up with the other side, Do I use bonding and then cement? Or will that concrete leveler be enough 🤔 and not use concrete to fix height?.
