My dad is deaf in one ear, so the bone conducting headphones let him hear audio in perceived stereo again. He describes it as hearing the music inside his head instead of through his ears. They are magical to him.

Ive used a set of these for about two years. I got bone conductives for a specific reason and fell in love with them. I cut trees for a living, between wood chippers and chainsaws. I wear a bandana over them, that brings the sound up a lot. Plug your ears with some comfy plugs and its pretty dang good. Even if you are standing on top of a diesel powered woodchipper at full throttle.

Bone conducting headphones brought tears to my cousin's eyes the first time he used them. He had Treacher Collins Syndrome, and was born without ears or ear canals. He had an implant hearing aid that was a very early version of Bone Conduction technology, but was never able to use headphones. My mom got him a pair as a gift, and they were his greatest treasure (apart from his kids).

I’m an electrician and I use my aftershokz everyday. Seriously the mic is amazing, the touch controls are simple and great. I can talk on the phone, listen to podcasts, use them on my motorcycle with a helmet (helps conceal the sound, no wind) and it lasts for the entire work day. And it gives the appearance that they aren’t in my ear so I can still hear people. Working in a construction zone, it’s essential to be able to hear someone if something goes wrong general communications need to delivered to maintain safety. So 10/10 would recommend.

I wear the cheaper aftershocks literally all day, every day. I've been watching all your videos through them, actually. I agree, the audio quality isn't amazing, but it's fine. Why I love them is simple... They can just be worn, 24/7 comfortably. You can pause your podcast/audiobook/music and have a conversation without removing them. You forget they are there, and start to think your phone has a magical ability to just beam music straight into your ears! Plus, I run a lot of power tools for my work and hobbies... With these, you can toss in some earplugs, protect your hearing while running an angle grinder, and still be lost in an epic story via an audiobook! That IS magic, in my book. I have many headphones, and after getting these, I completely lost interest in all my other headphones. They aren't the best at audio, but they are the best at daily life. Heck, you can even put gaming headphones over them, and listen to a podcast while playing your favorite video game at the same time, without effecting the audio of the game at all! MAGIC!

I've got a pair of the Z8s myself, I bought them for one of the exact reasons you mentioned, I was interested in the idea of the technology, but not enough to spring for the Aftershockz. The big thing I liked about the idea was having a single device that could both do "listen to them while still being able to hear background noise" and "listen to them in isolation" with a nice pair of earbuds put in. Unfortunately the leaking means that they aren't appropriate for a lot of scenarios, so "single device" kinda goes out the window. If you are (ignoring Covid now) in a cubicle then the bleed is probably ok, but if you don't have any barrier between your coworkers it's probably not. Sharing a couch is right out, and they are probably on the rude side for an airplane as well, if you aren't going to be sitting next to family. I will say that with ear plugs in they did do the job both on the plane and even mowing the lawn, also if you hold them a little tighter against your bones than the headphones do themselves (say a headband) the sound is transmitted to you far more effectively, so you can lower the volume, and between that and the headbands dampening it that helps with the bleed a lot. But how often are you wearing a headband? Also they aren't particularly robust, my baby got her hands on them to pull them off my ear and pulled apart some of the casing instantly.

The bleeding on bone-conduction headphones isn't as bad when you're wearing them - the reason you can hear it so clearly is that the surface that normally transmits the vibrations to your body is instead sending them to the open air. It's not as private as in-ear headphones, but there's less bleed than the mass-market over-ears that came with CD players and early mp3 players when I was a kid.

I'm not a cyclist, but I have a work phone along with my personal and I've had these for a year. I use these all day to listen to podcasts at a low level so I can still hear and respond to people, and being able to answer either of my phones while they're still in my pocket is a huge plus. edit: I just wanted to add, I just watched a video where a guy was cleaning the grunge and earwax out of airpods. Not a problem with these.

Similar thing here. The bleed really isn't all that bad unless you're blasting your music and honestly at the lower levels I tend to play at (25-40%) you really can't hear it at all as a bystander. I also love having the ability to listen to music and just be aware of my surroundings at the same time. Yeah, the sound quality can't compare to buds / traditional headphones, but I'm content with it as the biggest perk is their convenience (not to say the sound quality is terrible, it's decent).

Hey man, there's a little portable "speaker" called Soundwaver WHD, that doesn't have any drivers. I have been using the AfterShokz for several years now and while you are correct they don't do bass really well they are amazing for Audio Books and hands free phone use. Along with being water resistant, I wear them in the gym steam room and while showering. The Bleed you had mentioned is due to the fact there has to be vibration to create sound no matter what the source so some of that vibration transfers to the surrounding air resulting in sound. The other advantage is the AfterShokz are so comfortable I wear them all day and forget that I have them on. Every other in ear device has caused me pain after a few hours of wearing.

I’ve had a pair of Trekz Air’s for almost a year now and they’re genuinely my favorite headphones I currently own. If you play your content as a background like I do when welding or doing shop work, or at my work in a cubicle, I’ve genuinely never heard anyone else’s content that I work with or had anyone comment on hearing mine. A good 50% of people in the office I work in switched from conventional in ears to these because they can hear when someone walks into their cubicle or yells over a cube wall at them. They also come with ear plugs that are great for cutting grass because the mower is quieter and the music actually sounds better with your ears closed.
@Raveman540

As an Aeroplex user, these are my go to for any type of call. Microphone is great, voices are clear, and the thing is so comfortable and lightweight that I’ve legit forgotten I was even wearing them. Additionally, the fact they don’t obstruct your ears makes them even better for this, as calls just kinda feel like I’m talking to someone who’s in the room with me. Regardless of headphones, if they cover your ears, you can just tell, and that just *feels* different than not wearing anything. Even really great headphones and earbuds with ANC and some form of Transparency mode can’t match this level of natural ambience. That being said, calls are about all these are good for, so maybe get some real headphones for actually listening to music and whatnot.

A friend of mine has Aftershocks too and when he first told me about them and showed them in a video I was so impressed by the technology. I was exited for him bringing them with him when visiting the next time, so I could see them live and try them myself. And when that finally happened, I was so incredibly disappointed that they weren't even half as magic as I thought and bled as much as they do. But at least he loves them for cycling, which is what he got them for
