This song is about a relationship that obviously had ended when "The Carnival was over", but the person concerned did not want to give up her love, although she knew that probably she would not meet again with her lover. Liz Mitchell is the lead singer, but she's joined by Marcia Barrett and new guitarist/vocalist Reggi Tsiboe.

This version is more true to Russian folk song which inspired the Seekers version. The Russian folk song has a completely different lyrics, but it such a wonderful and evocative tune no matter who sings it!

I think you are mistaken. Granted, Bobby Farrell was a great dancer but he could not sing. When he had to appear singing, his voice was that of Frank Farian. Boney M was not finished after Booby's tragical death.

Да, русская народная песня, самые известные слова - "Из-за острова на стрежень" Дмитрия Садовникова. У Boney M слова, конечно, другие. Про Стеньку Разина там, скорее всего, очень мало кто знает.

Wunderbare Produktion von FAR- Frank Farian. Überzeugend in Gesang, Musik und Mode. Aufnahme mit dem neuen Sänger.und der samtweichen Stimme von Liz Mitchell. Klassiker der Seekers und selbst Ronny, sang diesen Titel in Deutsch. (Anja, Anja) Dieser Titel war wohl als A- Seite vorgesehen. Zum Hit wurde allerdings die B- Seite, "Going back west"! Eventuell eine Erklärung dafür, dass dieser Titel verdrängt und wohl auch deshalb kein Hit wurde. Dabei sind beide Titel absolut höhrenswert! Auch war zu dieser Zeit die N--D-W Kult und verdrängte englischsprachige Titel. Läuft selten im Radio.

the tempo is much slower... on this song I have to agree.. Judith is incomparable. listen to her on "500 Miles". however this version is not exactly a slouch either... just different. yeah the Seekers. another great group with awesome harmony.
