This was my mother's funeral song. When she was alive, the first time she heard it she told my brothers and I that it was her funeral song. So we made sure she got her wish. Love you mum xx

This was my one of my mother's favorite groups and this was her favorite song.. I remember her enjoying this song and we used to dance it together, I remember seeing in her eyes such sorrow yet such happiness, I couldn't understand it, how could I, I was just a kid... It's been 12 years since she passed away, and this song brings such sorrow and happiness every time I hear it.. It's true dead can dance. Bless the universe this group they are amazing, trascende time and even 14 years or more they are still avan gard.

sorry for your loss... I lost my dad two months ago. This wasn't his favourite's group but your comment touch me (i'm crying like a baby right now) 'cause I feel the same between sadness and joy, smile and tears. DCD music makes me always feel like this. Hopeful music but with such a sadness which breaks my heart everytime especially this wonderful masterpiece that is this song and the whole album "into the labyrinth". and your comment just increased this sadness. spleen and ideal ! this are the two words from Beaudelaire wich caracterise the DCD music for me. I finally managed to see them in concert two years ago after listening to their records for more than twenty years (or 30 ?) and DCD still the same. Their last album is also great and I'm so happy that they came back even if I love Brendan or Lisa's solo carrers also but when they're together there's magic in the air. Hope my english is understandable (I'm french so it's not perfect, sorry). Big up to you and your mother !

i taped this song from a college radio station in the fall/winter of 1994. i had never heard anything like it, but it spoke to me and completely felt like the best and most emotional song i had ever heard. I played it and played it over. now my 8 year old son and I occasionally watch this video, and he is completely mystified and glued to the images and sounds. a really special song.

Hold on, we'll all get through this 2gether.im from Germany, my girlfriend has left me right at the beginning of my countrys lockdown, 8 weeks home office with the feeling of total isolation from my mom and friends, lovesick to the bone. At the end I lost my job afterwards coz of corona economy crisis. But here I am, holding on, meeting my mom and friends again and enjoying my free time while I'm searching for a new job. Keep hope alive and soon better times will come to all of us. Stay positive, please.

Anyone who loves Soul Whirling Somewhere must be a passionate, thoughtful and romantic person. Michael Plaster is such an unheralded musical genius. It's such a shame that his computer - containing what was to be his most recent album "Almost" - was stolen along with lots of equipment, because he hasn't released anything since then (and I don't blame him - losing the art that you've poured your heart and spirit into is an extremely disheartening and depressing experience; I abstained entirely from music for roughly 2 years when it happened to me). Does anyone know what's happened to Michael/Soul Whirling Somewhere? It'd be so sad if he permanently gave up on his music.

I enjoy reading these comments and agree with all of them :) indeed dreamy and beautiful. Old soul kind of music. Listening to this song for me evokes images reminiscent of 17th century Venetian circus. it also reminds me of the quote, "all the world's a stage, and a man in his life plays many parts" by William Shakespeare. the end of the song makes me think of walking towards a new dawn, awakening from the illusion and circus of everyday life.

This clever and wonderful band have soundtracked my numerous backpack travels over the past quarter century. This song title wonderfully counterpoints a title by the (gulp) Seekers from 1960s Australia - except it's so beautifully cinematic and melancholic. DCD are such a gorgeous Australian invention: sit them alongside The Go-Betweens, The Triffids, The Bad Seeds, The Moffs, Tully & more...and they duly confound the doubters with a deep and enigmatic Australia. Thank you Lisa & Brendan!

I’ve always loved this song. Even the very first time hearing it. I just saw the accompanying video today - for the very first time. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a great and inspired video. It’s absolute perfection! And it does the song justice. Correction - it makes me love the song even more! ❤

Yes, this songs video and around the same time the video to Mazzy Starrs " Fade into you " go so perfect together. They did a great job capturing it.

One Friday evening I was sitting in my second floor studio on Bancroft Avenue in Berkeley. As the minutes passed I noticed that there were more and more people dressed in black robes and capes walking in the same direction. My curiosity piqued, I put on my jacket and decided to find out where everyone was heading. It was a Dead Can Dance concert at the Greek Theatre.

When my uncle passed on this was another song I listened to along with Pantera's Planet Caravan to let the tears out. Knowing in this life I will never see him again. Its been 21 years nearly, and the scairy thing is now I am a few months older than he was when he passed on. At least he is not in anymore pain and dancing painless. God bless him and I know someday I will see him again.

Wow, I had no idea that Pantera did a cover of Planet Caravan. It's not bad, but I still prefer the original Black Sabbath version.

Насколько же должна быть офигенной музыка, чтобы 13 летнего подростка (1997 год) выбросить из мира перегруженных басов и диких битов. Эта вещь Dead Can Dance сделала. Я был просто в восторге, когда впервые увидел этот клип.

Will always remind me of my Miami years, 1992-1995. I had actually bought this CD whilst I was still living in Chicago. I believe it actually came out in the early 90s. Whatever. When I moved to Miami I took all my CDs with me of course. And I used to play this whilst laying on the beach. People there in Miami would give me the strangest most puzzling looks. As to say "What is this??!!!" Yes I hear this and I feel like I'm back in The Magic City.

I used to listen to this song during high school and I remember vividly being in art drawing when someone came in and had all the seniors write down their senior quote on a card to be put in the year book. Mine says "The fabulous freaks are leaving town" because I was listening to this song at the time I got my card and I thought it was just perfect. This song gives me such a nostalgia of magic and strange times where I now realize how much I must have been admired for my belting songs like this at the top of my lungs in my high school hallways.... I'm so glad I found music like this at such an early age, it truly helped shape my uniqueness and understanding of mystical love and fantasy worlds which collide with our own every so often.
