They are NOT serial killers. killing three people is only ONE aspect of being classified as a serial killer. Second, all of their victims were killed as a result as a shootout, sometimes in the act of committing a crime and other times while trying to escape the police; in other words there was always a motive of which serial killers have none. The third and most important reason why your reasoning is wrong is because you have people like Richard Speck who are classified as spree killers who have killed more than three people. If you actually look up the definition you would see that killing three people is only ONE aspect of being a serial killer and that's not what Bonnie and Clyde were.

My understanding was that when the 2 officers approached them, Clyde said to Henry ,"Let's take 'em!". What he meant by that was to disarm them. Henry, who I guess was extremely excitable and had an itchy trigger finger misunderstood Clyde, shot and killed one of them. At that point Clyde felt that he had no other choice but to shoot the other one . He was extremely angry with Henry about this.

Although the rightful owner of the car did manage to sue and get it back. And most of those artifacts can be tracked down. Their guns just recently sold for a ton of money at auction. The only thing probably authentic in there is the stuff the American Pickers guys gave them.

Also it’s not just about the number there are a few more things involved. If it was just killing 2 or more people then we would have a lot more people who would be considered serial killers. For instance if it was just about killing 2 or more people, then a guy who goes and robs a convenience store and kills the clerk and another shopper who was in the store, then he or she would be a serial killer. But that’s not the case, the FBI’s definition of a serial killer is someone who kills 2 or more people( but different law enforcement agencies have it at 3 or more and some have it at 4 or more) in separate events and usually by 1 person although there have been plenty of times when it was 2 people killing as a team. Also serial killers kill for the feeling it gives them, the high they get. The psychological gratification. And it’s done over a period of time when they will kill for a month or two and then stop basically like a cooling of period. So by definition Bonnie and Clyde were not serial killers, the killed people while committing robberies as to eliminate witnesses, they are spree killers if anything, but even that I’m not so sure about because I don’t think that they went into every situation knowing they were going to kill someone.

you beat me to it, bonnie and clyde wouldn't be classified as "serial killers", especially bonnie, clyde was a cold blooded killer, but was fiercely motivated by his experience in the notoriously violent eastham prison farm, he was just 21, was raped, forced to do back breaking hard labor, (usually long days picking cotton) and prisoners who complained too much (or a guard had it in for someone) could be pulled out, taken around a building and executed, the guards would then write false reports they were killed trying to escape. many of clyde's killings were in shoot-outs, 9 shootouts in all i think, that's not to say he wasn't the first to shoot, or make excuses for his killings. but the simple fact is clyde barrow became increasingly forced into "kill or be killed" situations. side note; the eastham prison was so bad it eventually led to prison reform nationwide. so clyde did accomplish bringing attention to it's brutal treatment of prisoners. he even led a prison break from the outside just 4 months before he died. a lawsuit in 1974 alleged "cruel and unusual punishment" at the prison, it took 6 years but they won the case.

The Highway Men on Netflix is such garbage I was so excited for it but I couldn't deal with how insanely inaccurate almost every part of that movie was beginning to end! Everything was either grossly exaggerated or entirely WRONG from how Hammer obtained the weapons used in the ambush & of course the death scene itself was almost the worst friggin reenactment I have ever seen!! I was sadly disappointed in that movie! And I completely understand that movies aren't like a documentary or even a historically accurate book, but if you are I'm going to make a movie based on an actual real life event, especially the ambush/take down of Bonnie and Clyde then you should at least be accurate with how it went down. If anyone knows the actual facts from Reading historically accurate books than I feel most people would be very annoyed by this movie!!

@@purpledox2190 Well if you are looking for something historically accurate then I would recommend a book, I just finished Go Down Together: The True, Untold Story of Bonnie and Clyde on audible it was good & Blanche Barrow wrote a pretty good memoir too. There are actually a lot of good books, but if you want my opinion on a movie I really liked the miniseries that was on A&E & the History channel in 2013, but even that was criticized for historical inaccuracies so really anything like movies & tv is going to be exaggerated. But I do know that I really enjoyed the miniseries which was really just a 2 parter. And I do think that you would like it as well especially if you liked Highway Men & I am a huge Woody Harrelson fan so I really wanted to like it...
