After Buck was buried Cumey and Henry were sure that Clyde would be joining his older brother soon and decided to purchase one stone for the both of them. They told Clyde of their decision and he agreed. Clyde came up with the epitaph, Gone But Not Forgotten. Clyde sure got it right...

I grew up in West Dallas and have been to some of these locations many times. When you were at the Barrow family home you were also about a block west of the home of Raymond Hamilton (also on Singleton) and about two blocks from where Clyde killed a deputy on Winnetka Ave. in 1933. I was also fortunate to get to meet and talk to Clyde's baby sister (Lillian "Marie" Barrow Scoma) through my work with the Dallas Public Library in the early 1990s.

Family related to Bonnie. We have a few possessions of her's that were recovered from their death car - a 1910 history book (can be seen in the post-ambush film of the open trunk), a glasses case (recovered from the glove box), and a fabric covered blood stained button from her dress (other items were dispersed among family members).

You might think it's nothing ; you might think it's very insignificant but many of us would actually be quite interested.... I can tell you that for certain . Anything at all , whether it's her habits , her fears , her favorite things ... likes , dislikes . And the other poems or writings or sayings by her ? Can you tell us anything more about the time they were in and around Denton County ? Do you know anything about that ?

I lived in Southlake at the corner of Dove and Whitechaple in the early 70's. The Casillas family lived in the small house where the farmer said he witnessed the ambush. That was totally impossible to see Dove from that house. My friend Robert who lived there showed me a jar under the sink that had a chunk of cheek from the shoot out pickled in alcohol. Possibly part of Wheelers face after Methvin shot point blank. An elderly widow was our nearest neighbor, remembered the event. But also stated a police car overturned at the intersection. Can't find a record of that.

I really loved this... thank you so much for all your research , travel and hard work putting this together for everybody... I drove by the cemetery yesterday where Bonnie Parker is buried BUT , regretfully it has been CLOSED to the PUBLIC and IS LOCKED ! as I drove down Webb Chapel I did notice on my right Hildago Road or Street , on my right , drove down there.. made another right onto an alley with a small parking lot that is part of some apartments.. One will see a narrow cement lined creek runoff ... it appears that might be one way to get into the cemetery as there is no fence there... I would not advise wearing nice shoes to do this and I would not advise any women to go alone. I did not find the place until twilight and next time I go back I will look for a better entrance and bring other people with me... it happens to be in a very busy area with lots of stores , apartments , and some houses . If anybody knows of a new way to get in since one cannot just go in the front gate it would be great if they could explain this to me . my only complaint about this great video is that he doesn't show you exactly where her grave is and it makes it harder for us to visit her grave once inside.. I think another vid did show you how to access it but you need to locate some of the location markers such as the main building which may or may not even be there now . I can't believe how many times I drove by Route 114 and Dove Road and had no clue that was the spot where there's two four officers were shot by Clyde's crew.. incredible . there are some very old people in Lake Dallas who used to claim they had heard stories of Bonnie and Clyde and his gang hiding out and killing time in Lake Dallas which is on I-35 just north of Lewisville .. the town is on the lake and it may have looked different back then because it was a smaller Lake later connect it to five or four others in the area by the military engineers to create one huge Lake which by the military engineers to create one huge Lake which is Lewisville Lake . It's a shame Bonnie and Clyde were responsible for so many murders... would have been a fun story if they had only robbed banks but never physically harmed anyone . I'm not saying that robbing banks is okay... and sticking a gun in someone's face can traumatize them for life even if you don't use it on them .

gardensofthegods not sure why the cemetery is closed to the public
@gardensofthegods
@gardensofthegods 4 жыл бұрын
@@drivewaytv4400 sometimes when cemeteries are about a hundred years old they are allowed to close them and then eventually at some point believe it or not the land is allowed to be sold ! I don't know if you ever saw the movie Poltergeist ... in that movie their house is haunted and it's not until towards the end of the movie they find out that the tract housing they live on is built on top of what was the cemetery that had been moved... in other words all the coffins removed I don't want to tell you more about the movie if you never saw it but the original one was pretty good , at least I thought so . But so my theory is it's closed to the public because once it's been closed for a certain amount of time they are allowed to sell it and build on it .

Great video! Nice change from other videos that usually includes the same old photos and info, usually accompanied by a horrendous song. Also have to commend you on your accuracy. I've studied the pair for 20 years now and have seen a lot of misinformation in fan-made KZfaq videos or personal blogs. These people tend to romanticize the pair and downplay their crimes. But you seemed impartial, which I liked.

As a former inmate at the Eastham Unit in Lovelady, Texas, we were told verty interesting stories concerning Clyde Barrow . Most people are not aware that at one time the Easthsam Prison was onthe cover of Newsweek magazine as the worst prison in the US. Back in the 20's and 30's prison life on Eastham was only brutal. Men used to make deals with each other to chopoff each others hands and feet so they could not be forced to work. 16,000 acres of dense forest and every inch was cleared by hand using dull axes. Those axes were still in use in the 80's because I've used them. Clyde Barrow chopped off a toe to get out of the field. When I was there were had to chop into manageable lengths oak trees tghat had blown down. We chopped them into logs about 15 feet long by 4 ft in diameter. 8 to 10 men would pick up the logs and carry them to a point they coukd be lifted onto trucks. I was in the "new Eastham" completed in 1954. It was called, "The Bloody Ham". That place still haunts me.

That petrified wood motor court is on the way along with hundreds and hundreds of similar ones and the small bars that served them across the whole state that are still open. Around 13:08 - depending on the timeline....Hamilton left the Barrow entourage after the Lancaster heist. It's noted there was a feud between Clyde and Hamilton over money from the Lancaster burglary. If this was Bonnie & Clyde or Hamilton...it was either one group or the other. Hamilton tried to distance himself from the pair by writing a letter to authorities proving his whereabouts.

around 7:11 - this is NOT the bank they robbed. The bank (Henry's Bank) was on the Towne Square, but flip the camera 180 degrees. The bank was on the far adjacent right corner. It no longer exists because of the tornado. This IS NOT the bank. I was raised in Lancaster. This not the bank. The RP Henry Bank eventually became a curio-type shop. When the tornado blew it down, all that remained was the original vault. I think some of the original floor tile remained for awhile. I haven't been there in years, so I don't know what's left - if anything. But this is definitely not the bank Clyde and Hamilton robbed. It's on the opposite corner.

@@drivewaytv4400 No problem at all. Like I said, I did enjoy the video. Very informative and executed quite well. It is difficult to find the spot of the Henry Bank if you're not from the area, as it is nothing but a vacant spot now. There used to be a foundation there with original floor tiles, but I'm not sure if even that exists anymore. It's interesting to note that this robbery was the one that split Clyde and Hamilton. You can find online 2 letters (one from Hamilton, and one from Clyde) where they discuss the Lancaster robbery. Thanx for the uploading this vid and best of luck to you. Take care. All you need to know about Bonnie and Clyde is this: They were a perfect storm of poverty, fantasy, lunacy, incompetence and they died. How they were killed exactly is almost irrelevant as it was inevitable. Like the cold air from Canada meeting the warm air from The Gulf. No good can come from it.

It's kinda sad how they live and ran away from the law. Just thinking how they would live in fear of getting caught everyday.

Now I'm on my way to Bonnie Parker's grave site to do the exact same thing!! I read with a lot of happiness that she didn't die right away and was struggling to breath as her lungs were filling with blood. God forgives, Texas Rangers don't bitch!

Not to many people think about those in the past that were outlaws or sinners but if they truly believed in their heart that Jesus died for our sins and they repented that we will see them in heaven. Jesus came for all and no matter what you do if you have breath AND ask for forgiveness you will be saved.

If you watch “A Nice Place to Visit,” a Twilight Zone episode, you get an idea of what happens with murderers. There’s many mansions, and to get the best you have to live the best you know. Bonnie knew some things, and so did Clyde. In one article I read, the person, W.D. Jones, a member of the gang at one time, said that Clyde prayed. But, with knowledge comes accountability. This life is for us to prepare to meet God. Heavenly Father forgives for sure -- but you can’t go around killing people. “Thou shalt not kill.” Jesus taught about getting rid of the traits that would lead to murder.

Lancaster, TX is my birth home. I still live here today. I'm 53 now. The bank you showed as the bank that Clyde and Raymond Hamilton robbed is the wrong location. The bank you showed, was the original "White" Bank. And later, the First National Bank. The bank that Clyde and Raymond Hamilton robbed, was the "Henry Bank". It was privately owned by the R.P. Henry family. and was located at the SouthEast end of the square as you left the square on the East side. A 1994 tornado destroyed the Henry Bank building. There is nothing there now. Just to say it again, the bank building that you showed, with the white columns, was the old "White" bank. and later the First National Bank......not the Henry Bank that "the Barrow Gang" robbed. If you need to get in touch with me, Im at kckaine@msn.com

BlackAnvil47 well they gave money to families and from what I read, they would rob a lot of small country gas stations and markets. People like Dillinger made a lot more from his stealing than Bonnie and Clyde
