LOL so I knew the song when I heard it because I have been listening to Bonobo for several years, so when the show played this track I was like BONOBO made it on Primetime TV! LOL

LOL I just commented this now. Hahahaha. When the track started playing, I yelled "I KNOW THIS SONG!" I love when I can sing along to a television show; it makes me feel like someone else likes the music that I do. LOL

Thanks to whosampled, I found the vocal sample for this is Pete Seeger’s ‘One Grain of Sand’ a lullaby he composed for daughter in the 1950’s. Give it a listen: mesmeric stuff. It’s obvious why Simon sampled it.

I absolutely love the album and all the sounds. People saying its "off", "too much house" or emotionless are missing the raw feelings that the music is giving off. This one makes me think of the passage of time and the desolate/curious nature of the desert.

Bonobo is basically suggesting a new renaissance for electronic music. Maybe it's prophecy. And maybe he was it's own messiah too.

I like the new house sound, he's definitely moving forward in his own way. But I do also love the fuzzy psych sound of his earlier downtempo stuff (even if the songwriting often was lacking), and also the organic, lush production on Black Sands

this artist is a true pioneer, he is brave entering new territories. And once the listener opens up and lets him in, he migrates the new wonderful and wide world between neighboring notes into our lives. You might not understand yet, but give it 5 years and listen back, you will understand it.

I know what you mean, Goldenspiral. The album is definitely a slow burn love for me; took a little while to grow on me. Those kinds of albums tend to be long-lasting on my rotation. And I agree, Fuk Off, this album has INCREDIBLE sonics; should be heard on a good setup.

man I love black sands just as much as the next person,but I'm going to be real.I don't compare older work by Simon from his recent work.Pretty much all of his songs are good,I just take it like that.Yea there's alot of EDM out there,but I allways stay listening to bonobo and a few other artist.For me it takes some strong music to give me chills,and open up my mind a certain way.Not trying to sound like a weirdo..lol..

although this album is nice , i still miss old bonobo with less electro sounds and less vocal , old bonobo was 1 of my favourite music group , it had beautiful nature ambience and feeling that you are embracing something bigger than just reality , nowdays these musics are nice but its kinda less emotional
@NickKautz
@NickKautz 7 жыл бұрын
I liked the old stuff because it had strong rhythmic drum beats that I could nod my head to... and almost every track would be that way. It was awesome. Now it's still quality music but it kinda feels like they have their hands in too many different genre's, I end up skipping through the "experimental" and "chillout" tracks and looking for the ones with captivating beats, cuz that's where Bonobo really thrives.... wouldn't be surprised if my sentiment also resonates with the vast majority. Capture the listener with the beat and then they'll pay more attention to the vocals , the other instruments, and the nuances.
