Join me on my journey through taking a bonsai exam, Also, I answer 7 questions posed by ‪@XaviersBonsaiRetreat‬ in his wish to bring together the youtube bonsai community.

You have taken me completely by surprise Jelle. The answers to the questions was really interesting and I loved how you combined it with the work you have to do for your examination. Will I have to call you master when you pass? There will be lots of fighting to be your new Padewin learner. That is an incredible Yew and i am even more curious about how the root over rock will look. Your favourite would be my favourite...if it wasn't a nasty juniper :) The trouble with trunks is when the rest of the elephants wake up... I am really pleased that you took part in the 7 Questions but more importantly - well done on passing your exams. You are an example to all of us 'lesser mortals' flailing around with our chopsicks and wire. Cheers, Xavier

Jelle, congratulations on the passing of your exam. I also have lived in several countries. I lived in the Netherlands (Amsterdam) in the early 90’s. Do you have any recommendations on where to purchase nice bonsais in the US? As I learn and make mistakes I would love to have a nice bonsai to enjoy and inspire my progress.

I also hale from a cheese famous state- Wisconsin (US), but I much prefer your cheeses. Live vein cleaning is probably my most favorite tree task out of everything❤ It is not an hour and a half waste of time🤣 Congrats on passing your exams!

I think there is a need to get you on this side of the big pond once a year, and put some trees in front of you for cleaning!!

Hi Rajesh, thank you. Limesulphur is a liquid made by boiling quicklime with sulphur and works as a fungicide. There are recipes online. I have no experience making it, as I buy the ready-made product in special bonsai stores (And the ingredients are hard to find here)

Hi Alan, the international bonsai school is run by Werner Bush in dusseldorf, and is part of the bonsai werkstatt. It is a partnership with Mr Katagiri from the Nippon Bonsai Association.

Limesulphur is a liquid made by boiling quicklime with sulphur and works as a fungicide. There are recipes online. I have no experience making it, as I buy the ready-made product in special bonsai stores (And the ingredients are hard to find here)
