In this video I am showing you how to turn cheap raw material into a bonsai in just a few days. This is a big and old boxtree that was heavily neglected over the last centuries.

Very nice tree! I'm sceptical with new bonsai channels at first and I was especially sceptical with this tree and the three-trunk design, but it turned out really awesome! It probably won't be long before massive backbudding occurs. Good to see young bonsai artists doing great stuff. We're even the same age and have the same name. You've got a new subscriber ;).

***** hi, can you please let us know what the black paste was? I keep seeing people using it in videos for deciduous trees, because they tend to heal differently, but no body explains what it is, nor how it's called, and I might start making some deciduous bonsai myself,and so I'd love to be informed about this. Thank you so much !
@Rens3d9 жыл бұрын
whizkid It genrally a Cut paste of some sort, (www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Japanese-Bonsai-Cut-paste-wound-sealant-160gm-/191511597394?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item2c96fb1152) theres one i found on ebay as an example, hope this answers your question.
@katievonolendorp58948 жыл бұрын
+whizkid Oh, it seems that Yanik did not see your question. May I help? ;-) This is a wound closure paste. Something similar is also used for big trees after losing a branch for avoiding infections and it contains tea tree oil for disinfection which often is also used from gardeners to clean their saws and other tools not to carry an infection from one Tree to another. It is always a good advise to look after this. There are special wound closure pastes for bonsai in different colours from light brown or grey to nearly black. It gives also optical effects to the work. I don't know about the brand Yanik used but you can find a lot of different brands, mostly imported from Japan, at Amazon f.ex. Or maybe you can find via Google a nice community in your country. There you can get several advises. Sometimes even on EBay are good sellers to find. Depends on where you live. I live in Onlinemiddleageworld and even me can buy it online. So be optimistic.;-) Bye 👋 and the best wishes for your projects! ❤

How long does it take for the wired branches to stay where they are supposed to be?
@neffbonsai8 жыл бұрын
+Thomas Pirker It usually takes several re-wireings (is that an english word?). I think that this tree will stay in this shape without wire in 5 years. The faster the branches grow the faster this process will be finished because the new wood holds the position, not the old one.

@heartsuktv32808 жыл бұрын
Hey Neff, nice video :) I'm looking to buy lots of wire like yours, how long are the rolls and what gauges do you buy?
@neffbonsai8 жыл бұрын
+Matthew Chambers Hi Matthew, aluminum rolls are sold per gram, so I buy 500g rolls for the small diameters and 1kg ones for bigger ones. I have all the diameters from 1mm to 6mm, but for the start a combo of: 1,5mm, 2mm, 2,5mm, 3mm, 3,5mm should be ok if your trees are not too big.

Presumably to remove dead areas. And/or to add interest, as in natural hollows that develop on deciduous trees.

The kind of tree, aka the species is listed in the title. Also known as common box, or boxwood. The style is twin trunk informal upright. The black putty is cut paste, used to protect the wound and reduce scaring.
