Bonsai trees -How to bonsai a Citrus tree repotting and pruning Part 2, by mikbonsai
How to bonsai a Citrus Tree repotting and pruning. You can also see the pot prepared prior to the repotting, with drainage holes covered with mesh wire and secured with u pin hair bends made with bonsai wire. Also anchor wires added for securing the tree in the pot to stop it moving. this prevents feeder roots from breaking.

Hello, I'm new to the world of bonsai and am considering starting my first bonsai tree. Would it be possible for me to begin one from a grapefruit tree cutting? If so, so you have any specific advice? I'm not sure how the cat litter soil works, is it okay for the plant to only have low-dust litter and no other types of soil or dirt? Will the litter absorb too much moisture and prevent the plant from getting enough hydration? I love your videos and look forward to seeing more of your channel.

Hey, I love your videos. You continue to be a wealth of information and an inspiration for me. Thank you. You mentioned covering the cut you made to the dead lower branch. What did you use to seal the wound? You used low dust cat litter. Do you ever add soil? If so, what kind, how much, where in the pot, and when? If not, is cleaned cat litter aggregate acceptable? You said, "I normally feed on Sundays" what do you feed and in what dose? Additionally, I am still very excited about your improved audio and I enjoyed the time lapse. Please, don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching and listening to you but, it was a fun change of pace. I am looking forward to more of your work. Hoping you're well.

The wound was sealed with Japanese wound sealant, look and feels like putty. I only seal the wounds if it weeps. i use premium grade low dust, no cleaning or Sieving, use it as it comes out of the package. Will be happy to send you a link if you email me at; Info@mikbonsai.co.uk. I use various feeds, chempak 10:10:10 if you cannot get this strength, get a higher on and hen dilute down. I also use liquid seaweed, for fruiting trees I use tomato feed. Finally I also use chicken pellets these are very good value and give excellent results. | am still working on improving all aspects of the videos. Thanks for being a good sport and also for liking my videos.

A lovely little tree. Did you defoliate it to get the small leaves or are they naturally that size. I have three lemon trees and the leaves are quite large. Can they be pruned without harming the tree, I have done it with other species successfully but not knowledgable enough about citrus. Thanks for sharing. Mandie South Australia.
@mikbonsai
@mikbonsai 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Mandie, I have never defoliated this tree. I think the leaves were small to start with. If you do defoliate, remove a few leaves at a time and as new leaves emerge, remove some more of the older bigger leaves. This is what I do with my Oak trees and further down the season, you have smaller leaves. This may have to be done every season. Best wishes Iqbal London

Yes it should, but be careful if you bare root the tree, make sure the roots are constantly sprayed with water to keep them wet. I f the roots dry out, then your tree will die. Cheers Iqbal

Hi Iqbal, of course a nice video as usual. Your viewers think and sometimes ask you that from where did you get the beautiful pot, lovely tree and tools etc. I have a new query, how much time you devote to create or to find out your after thoughts. I am learning so many new things apart from bonsai. Any how I love it. Thanks for the video. Warm Regards from India.

Hi Lawrence, I bought them at the Heathrow bonsai show. There were many traders and I think it was from Corin Tomlinson of Greenwood bonsai. You can get hold of him at: Greenwood Bonsai. www.bonsai.co.uk/Corin-Tomlinson-Biography.html Do tell him you got his details from me. He is very nice to deal with.

How many days it will take to grow an orange plant able to be bonsai 😃☺️
@mikbonsai
@mikbonsai 5 жыл бұрын
If you are growing from seeds, then it takes years as many as ten or more. However, if you buy an orange tree from a nursery and make that into a bonsai, the results are instant.

@mikbonsai

Hi Michael, its premier grade low dust cat litter. These are granules heated to high temperatures and are just like akadama, and a fraction of the price. I have been using it for three years now with very good results.

Am always looking forward to it. I have a Japanese Quince, its very old and was in a nursery in wales for over 20 years and no one bought it. It was tucked away and a few leaves were all I could see and asked if it as a Quince. He confirmed it was and took it out for me to see and me he had it for over 20 years and no one wanted to buy i. I snapped it up and worked on it for three years and to my delight it flowered for the first time this year. Its a great feeling of achievement when that happens.
