This video was perfect for me. I heard, pruning back quite fast slows the process. I’ve never understood why that’s the case and if that’s even true. This video shows exactly this. The plant you let grow is much thicker than the other ones. Great thanks

Very interesting Eric

As a potter, I am extremely interested in making especially tiny pots. Recently KZfaq suggested Mame Bonsai videos and I am fascinated! I am curious as a Bonsai artist, what do you look for in a pot? What makes it ideal for bonsai and having seen one of your previous videos knowing that you have experience with mame bonsai, what would you look for in a great pot for mame bonsai? Are certain features important? I have noticed that the holes in the bottom serve multiple purposes in not only providing drainage but also to hold wire for anchoring. Most pots seem fairly shallow in relation to the size of the pot, but some are taller. Can you please elaborate on what the pot shape you would choose for one type of bonsai or another would depend on? I know that is probably not something easy to explain to someone who doesn’t have any experience with bonsai growing and grooming, but I’m interested in learning how to make my pots better suited for this purpose and what I can learn in terms of why certain things would make a pot better for this purpose. Do you choose glaze colors and textures purely on your own preference and artistic vision or are there specific rules that say this is acceptable for bonsai and that is not? Thanks for sharing whatever you would like to share with me in regards to this or maybe hopefully if you would like to do a video explaining these things or perhaps already have and would like to point me in the direction of finding such a video. As a new viewer, I am delighted with watching your videos and techniques. Thank you for sharing!

On trees with a decent head of branches but not fully formed I've seen japanese guys wrap up or bind the branches together like a Christmas tree, I think the idea is to stop knuckles forming

Eric, do young Zelkova fuse their trunks over time? What if you tied in the lower trunk 4 or so thin young trees? I am experimenting with that but I am unsure if I am just wasting my time.

Long long will you keep the wrapping and wire on?
