it's easier to get the pawl's and springs out if you use a magnet.

Had to remove the hub bearings witha hammer and punch gently, how would you reccomend
@JustFrana2 жыл бұрын
for the hub shell i use a bling bearing puller and for the freehub i use a punch and hammer

Do you grease the outside (ID) of the bearings before you press them in?
@JustFrana2 жыл бұрын
Yes I lightly grease the whole thing before pressing it in , just enough to basically make it sticky

Nice video! Please coud you say to me what kind of bearings are mounted in Rapid Drive 108?
@JustFrana Жыл бұрын
Im just going off memory but i think its 6903 in hub shell and 6803 in freebody but will confirm on Friday

i can remove the freehub body without removing the cassette, is it normal?

Yes , when the hub cap is really stuck i use the cassette as handle to pull the cassette towards me with hands on either side

My end cap and body are really tight on there, no way i can just pull them off. Any tips on how to get them moving?
@JustFrana2 жыл бұрын
For very stuck ones I have a tool called hub genie , google it and you might be able to use a blind bearing collet in the same way otherwise wrap the end cap with leather , put the axle through the wheel and then clamp the end cap en A bench vice and pull the whole wheel straight up.
@dannyvv752 жыл бұрын
@@JustFrana thanks but it's not going a mm. The cap is not moving so the free hub is still on to. I'm afraid to damage more then nesassery if i continue here. I'm going to take the wheel to my local shop to have the stupid cap removed. Thnx
@mikeriley14752 жыл бұрын
@@dannyvv75 I had this problem too. The o-ring gets stuck on the shaft, try putting some wd-40 inside the cap then give it a good yank. The hub genie works awesome, but without one, you can still get it off with a little effort. Worst case is you'll need to replace the cap, which is about 9 bucks.
@dannyvv752 жыл бұрын
@@mikeriley1475 it's off,thanks. But it took serious effort, no way it will come off like some video's show just pulling with bare hands.
@mikeriley14752 жыл бұрын
@@dannyvv75 So did mine. I had to use my driver as a slide hammer to get it off (take that bearings), pawls went everywhere. I put a little grease on the o-ring for the re-install, then took it back off again to check and it came apart much easier the second time.

Are you saying there that all free hubs take the same bearings?
@JustFrana10 ай бұрын
All BONTRAGER Rapid drive freehubs take the same bearings ( size and amount) Freehubs grok other manufacturers will obviously differ
@raypinney49449 ай бұрын
How do you just pull off the free hub body?? I tried for several minutes and mine didn’t come off
@JustFrana9 ай бұрын
If its brand new they're very difficult, but its just the cap. Once the black cap is off its very easy. If the hub cap is already removed then just check that it is definitely a 108 rapid drive freehub
@raypinney49449 ай бұрын
@@JustFrana the cap is still on, I also can't get it off, hub has 1000 miles on it
