"There's nobody about, but I still blow the whistle." It's a good habit to get into. A bit like using your car's indicators at a junction even when there are no other cars in sight.

Hi Dale, a nice video of something we don't ususally get to see. You're getting to be a bit of a bit of a film star but the 73 Stock itself has in the past been a star attraction also. If you ever drive 'double ender' unit with Driving Motor 891 you'll be in the car that featured in Superman IV - A Quest For Peace where Superman rescues a train after the motorman collapsed. They dressed up Aldwych to look like a Metropolis subway system. You can find the clip on KZfaq. All the best and I'm looking forward to the next video.

I needed to know why they couldn’t dig a tunnel and do an extension for most of the mainline Trains so that they could extend the unused abandoned underground train stations. Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock which will include the class 507, class 508, class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign all of them into an overhead wire line trains and also make most of them into Five carriages per units and also having three Disabled Toilets on those Five cars per units A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Gardner 6LXC, Cummins M11, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner LG1200 and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 8-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 10-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 507, class 508, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into 11 carriages per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers? A Stock Train and 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it even much more Larger and extend it to the bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Railway tunnel into a High-Speed Railway lines? The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Railway line to make it 11 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. Then put the modernised 11 carriages per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The modernised refurbished 11 carriages per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 47 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project if that will be OK for London Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from the Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden more Easily. Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly Line and also build brand-new underground train stations so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street can they also make another brand new underground train station in Chingford and could they extend the Piccadilly Line and the DLR right up to Chingford? All of the classes 150, 155, 154, 117, 114, 105, and 106, will be replaced by all of the Gardner 6LXC, Cummins M11, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner LG1200 and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Five carriages three disabled toilets are air conditioning trains including Highams Park for extended roots which is the Piccadilly line and the DLR trains. Could you also convert all of the 1973 stock trains into an air-conditioned maximum speed 78 km/hours (48 MPH) re-refurbished and make it into a 8 cars per unit if that will be alright, and also extend all of the Piccadilly train stations to make more space for all of the extended 8 car per unit 1973 stock air condition trains and can you also build another Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive Companies and can they order Every 87 Octagon and Every 48 Hexagon shape LNER diagram unique small no.13 and unique small no.11 Boilers from those Countries such as Greece, Italy, Poland, and Sweden, can they make Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive speeds by up to 147MPH so you can try and test it on the Original Mainline so it will be much more safer for the Passengers to enjoy the 147MPH speed Limit only for HS2 and Channel Tunnel mainline services, if they needed 16 Carriages Per units, can they use those class 55’s, class 44’s, class 40’s and class 43HST Diesel Locomotive’s right at the Back of those 18 Carriages Per Units so they can take over at the Back to let those Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s have a rest for those interesting Journeys Please!!!!, oh can you make all of those 18 Tonne Boxes of Coal for all of those 147MPH Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s so the Companies will Understand us PASSENGER’S!!!! So please make sure that the Builders can do as they are told!!!!!! And PLEASE do something about these very very important Professional ideas Please? Prime Minister of England, Prime Minister of Australia, Prime Minister of Sweden, Prime Minister of Germany, Prime Minister of Italy, Prime Minister of Poland and that Includes the Mayor of London.

Hi Dale. Interesting to see the other end of the line. I spent most of my youth at the other end. As a very small child my nearest station was Hillingdon, then in 1948 we moved closer in, with Sudbury Town as the nearby station. That resulted in a shorter trip for Dad going to work at the Acton works. I enjoy seeing your videos, whether it’s areas I was familiar with, or the places I didn’t know. With Dad as a employee of London Transport, we had very cheap travel on the underground, 6d return Tom me anywhere I wanted to go. South Kensington and Paddinton were favourites- museums and steam trains. Do stuff still have similar perks? I’ve been in Canada for the last 57 years.

You are correct the rear car is still on the power until the front clears the wash and is back on the power. The issue can be is if a motor is out you can get gapped ( no power). However in the wash momentum keeps you going for that short section

Thank Dale. That was very interesting to watch. Just a stupid question, but do you get much slippage and need to reduce speed during wet weather? With steel on steel and then being wet would you feel the difference than when dry? Bad enough in a truck or car, would expect a little worse with a heavier train albeit the whole train braking.
@dalecharmantravels8057
@dalecharmantravels8057 Ай бұрын
Yes you can get wheel spin and sliding when the wheels lock up in the wet. Some trains handle it better than others. It’s down to how strong the brakes are and motors
@MrLewis555
@MrLewis555 Ай бұрын
Lovely to see this during the day, I imagine small changes like this help to break your day up too. Question though, how does the train not get gapped in the washer? My understanding is that the train is broken into two sets of 3 cars, each with its own motor etc. So does the front set get gapped and is the pushed along by the back set, which then gets gapped and is pulled out by the front set?
@dalecharmantravels8057
@dalecharmantravels8057 Ай бұрын
So as long as one car is on the power ( and the motor is working) you are ok. At Northfields depot we go in to the shed and leave the rear car on the power. The problem is if that cars motor is not working then the train is dead. I have had that once
@MrLewis555

on another channel I saw a driver on the Jubilee line driving trains that were almost entirely automated... i.e. push the buttons and the train then drives itself to the next station, obeying speeds and signals where necessary. All he needed to do was open/close doors and make announcements. The only manual driving was in/out of the depot. Are you getting this kind of automation on the new trains coming to the Piccadilly line? What's your opinion on this automation? As a casual observer I reckon it might take a lot of the fun out of the job.

Hi, Dale, I was just wondering, what happends when you guys go on strike? I'm not from the UK, but when strikes on the public transport happen here in Belgium, the affected depots first of all try and roster as much emploies willing to work, so that a "minimal" service can take place, allthough i have the feeling they don't really pay attention to what services they operate and what services they dont, because they had a strike a month ago and for commuters into school, this one line was verry important, with arguably not enough service for peak times on a normal day, didn't see a service untill after peak times... Do London transport ask the same or is there no service at all during the strikes? Also would love to see a trip during peak times. (I'm thinking the commute back home- where i'm from thats usually between 16 and 18h)

Hi Dale I'm from Singapore. I have specific interest of just more content around the Heathrow T4 loop and to/fro T5 via the PiccEx junction. I have always been intrigued by this sector of the Piccadilly Line for its speed, distances, noise and high speed crossover over PiccEx. Like what u mentioned, def need more camera light in tunnels to match the real-feel illumination. Also noticed for PiccEx jct, the T5 convergence turnout when onward towards T2-3 has the tunnel lights here switched off. This wasn't the case in 2015/17. How often do the trains get cleaned of graffiti? I'm still amazed to this day how vandals managed to get into the depots where the trains are stabled for the night, with so much security and cameras about now.

I believe they try to clean it off as soon as it’s seen ( over night). If it’s offensive or wet then the train will be removed from service straight away

I wonder if the regular drivers get drafted in to drive the engineering trains or not? I'm curious about them, they look like they may be even older than the 73 stock?
