Great video, thank you! On the railway where I was a driver, we have sweeper trains (first trains out the depot), then they normally maneuver the sweeper through the crossovers.

In the 60's - 80's I lived in one of those houses on the left after leaving Hounslow Central and in to the 70's you would still see 'lost' District Line trains presumably stopped where you mentioned. Never used to really hear the trains but when maintenance was done in the middle of the night that was really noisy! Luckily only one or two nights every few years. Missed the old red trains when they stopped running. We would sit in the garden and watch the planes coming in to land. At the time the house was in the middle of two landing flight paths so again the noise was minimal. Saw both Concorde and the Jumbo Jet’s first arrivals in to Heathrow.

How do you know when to use the audible warning? You used it several times in the video. I guess there is some indicator to tell you to do this like a whistle board on network rail.

This is going to sound silly, but I’ve always wondered whether after a drivers shift and they’re on their way home by car, whether there is a slight hesitation when you know you need to make a right or left turn and that there is no rail to do that for you?😂

Hi, I used to regularly travel on the Piccadilly Line 75 years ago, between Osterley and Hounslow West, its western terminus at the time. Just visiting your channel brings back many memories of my time in the UK. The train service then was excellent compared to what I receive now from our local station here in Australia, but the weather does not seem to have changed at all over the last 75 years or so.

A few years ago a Dutch train driver who posts videos on his youtube page(s), got heat from the Dutch Railways (NS) headquarters about the way he filmed his cabview videos/films. Previusly he filmed his videos with a camera mounted on a head-band, which gave a wonderful view on the traincontroles and the outside. The view on the controles was the problem, according to NS. Basicly they were worried that any bloke could brake into the train and just drive off. Which is loonacy because you simply just can't: - Every train neets a key to be entered, activated and operated. That's clearly to see in those videos. Now-a-days he has his camera in the front window.

beautiful stuff you show us, sir. But i love to see more. As in: Would it be possible to put a camera in a spot that also captures you and what you are doing to drive the train, or is this some kind of top secret business nobody may know about? I mean, we hear the sounds of all kinds of stuff going on, but seeing it as well would in my opinion be helpful, appreciated, and more of those words. Anyway, if it is not allowed to show how to manipulate the controls during your ride/work, then so be it. If you could, then please do so. It would give the viewer a much better perspective to appreciate what you are doing. (if that makes any sense. This entire response came out of the noodle of a dutch guy. And be honest, the dutchies don't have much noodles in their noodlecavity.

I wonder why third rails are not protected when track run outside the tube, in case any pedestrian trespasses the track or even if maintenance workers doing their job accidentaly touch the rail may receive a fatal discharge . In my country third rails all have a top cover for this purpose.

When I worked as a bus driver, we were told (required, actually!) not to wear a high-vis vest while driving because the reflection of the vest in the windscreen could distract and obscure stuff we should avoid driving into. The second company I worked for had no such rule. Is this a concern for train driving? The vest reflection is visible in the footage which reminded me
