There's something satisfying about making and working in an altered journal. I've made several since taking the awesome workshops on her site. It can be addicting! LOL! I'm always looking for the "right book" when I'm out! I'm sure people wonder what I'm doing when I'm closely inspecting the binding! Thanks for sharing your wonderful art and ideas with us!

Thank you so incredibly much Jane!!! This is so inspiring and I have to do this now! May I ask, what is the difference between matte medium and matte gel medium?
@MaAllen4174 жыл бұрын
matte medium has consistency of lotion and the gel is like gel lotion.

Enjoyed watching you.Oh how I wish I had a copy of that sketch book!!! :D Question: Why didn't you knot the threads on the back side instead of having the knots show in the middle of pages? Seems they would be more secure in the back?

Hi Jane, is it just plain masking tape that you are using on this book? Thanks, x

Can we use your washi tape instead of masking tape for the pages?
@janedavenport5 жыл бұрын
yes you can. Washi doesn't stick so well though, it's repositionable, so you may need to restick in time, or use glue as well.

Any chance we can see a finished journal flip thru? please, please :) this one would be amazing to see :D THank you for this video, I'm stuck in LockDown, only book that I can find in my house is a 100 year old Girls Annual passed down from my granny who passed away years ago. Should I? Shouldn't I? I've had a bookstore look at it and its not worth anything, I think I might. It's pretty darn thick

Every time I use the Gesso I get a headache. I’ve learned to move my art piece to my bathroom to dry where I can run a fan and keep the door closed so I am not breathing in fumes
@janedavenport2 ай бұрын
With the Joyful Gessoh from Creative Expressions? I’ve never heard of that before as the formula they use is non-toxic, low odour, no fumes etc. I’ve experienced what you mention with other brands- especially in clear gesso- but not in my collection and I’m interested to know more.

🇨🇵 ✂️📜🗑I am French and this one was HARD for me to watch. The ripping out those beautiful sketch drawings out of a perfectly fine 100$ book seems Extremely Disrespectful . Why not do it to one of Your own books. GUARANTEED you would be aggrevate seeing someone tare up your own books! U literally ripped out their ART OF OF THEIR OWN BOOK . I'm really Disappointed you actually did this! Low Move!

Each to their own as the saying goes. These are books I purchased with damaged covers, mildew damage and with pages missing usually from a charity store for a few dollars. And I do have pages in my books that are to be torn out and used, so I won't be aggravated at all. Have a great day and try not to let other people's creative joy bother you so much.
