I loved "I Was Anastasia"! Liked the Maid. And I just found the Personal Librarian in a Little Free Library too. Betrayal of Anne Frank sounds interesting.

I loved Tess of the D’ubervilles, but it’s definitely intense. I love the BBC series of North and South. Richard Armitage and Daniela Denby-Ashe are fantastic

That's good to know, I'm totally unfamiliar with Hardy and that classic in particular. I definitely love watching a good period piece adaptation of an English classic, so thanks for the heads up!

Wherever you go is such a cute children’s book. I didn’t if only adults would like it, but my 2 year old does too. I also have the bee children’s book. It’s seen better days though 😭

Like you, I was NOT a fan of Evelyn Hugo, but read Daisy Jones and just ate it up! Actually I listened on audio and thought it was quite good, so definitely give it a try 🙂

For parenting books, I would recommend Kim John Payne's books and podcast "Simplicity Parenting". He has a beautiful, intuitive and nurturing approach to rearing. I wish I had been introduced to him sooner.

North and South is a good book. I really enjoyed it so I hope you do. Emma is the only Austen book I have not read, but my favorite so far is Northanger Abbey.

I really enjoyed Wrong Place, Wrong Time. I read it a couple of months ago and it's gotten one of my highest ratings so far. Another one that got a great rating from me is The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry. The Shadow of the Wind was a DNF for me. The writing is beautiful; the story took forever and didn't go anywhere. I gave up about halfway through.

When my twins were 6 months old this book seriously changed my life! Nobody was sleeping and everyone was crabby. I also reread with my single baby a couple years later. Can’t recommend enough! Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. (I know sleep training and schedules can be controversial but to me this was essential!)

Code name Helene is one of my favorite hist fiction books! Haven't read I was Anastasia but I loved her writing so I am sure it is good.

One of these days I’m going to read the bee book you recommended to me! I can recommend The Secret Lives of Cows by Rosamund Young. The first couple of chapters are heartbreaking details about beef cows. Just about the time I was ready to throw it across the room, we are given a glimpse of cows living their best lives with kind farmers. 4 stars. I loved The Maid and The Bodyguard. I remember them as 5-star reads…but I only gave them 4-stars. Maybe it is time for a re-read? I also gave the A.J. Fikery story 4 stars. It did make me cry a little. Thank you for reviews of older books. I don’t get to hear about them very often and this information is extremely well received!

Read and Loved/really liked: Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, The Book Thief, Cold Mountain, For the Children’s Sake and Parenting with Love and Logic Read and Didn't like: The Mystery of Black Hollow Lane and I Was Anastasia (I actually hated this one) I have Babel on my shelf to read and a few others on my want to read list. I am almost finished w/ 11/22/63

the storied life of aj fikry is lovely. i'm intrigued by babel too, about to get my own copy. the shadow of the wind is excellent, not magical realism though if i remember correctly. wow, adding the radium girls to my tbr after you mentioning it. (congrats on your pregnancy!! i recommend the book you wish your parents had read by philippa perry)

I really liked The Mystery of Black Hollow Lane. I also enjoyed I Am Malala. Has anyone recommended What To Expect When You Are Expecting? It's been a while (cough, cough) since I read it but I think it is still out in a new edition.

Does 11.22.63 by Stephen king have a lot of foul language? I’ve tried Stephen king once before and it was way too much but I am intrigued by this book and would like to know!

I would say it has a fair amount, but I was never distracted by it or thought it was over-the-top for the story and characters. But it doesn't bother me like it might others... Hope that helps some!
