from someone who doesn't know the lore -- is it just total coincidence that this character also has "Bane" in his name while having apparatus, that -- at least it looks like -- is helping him to breath? Even if it's not literally, it's still convoluted machinery directly attached to his face.

My grandpa took me to see every single Star Wars movie as a kid starting when they did the re-releases in the late 90s all the way to episode 7, when he passed away shortly after. It was our "thing" that we shared together. He loved Star Wars and wanted me to experience the amazing universe of Star Wars too. So watching this episode, as the tears streamed down my face, all I could think was, "I wish so badly my Grandpa was alive to see this, he would LOVE it". When Luke and Grogu were at the top of the bamboo and they played the force theme, I absolutely lost it. Such a magical moment. I'm sure there are many people out there who have similar story's and Star Wars means as much to them as it does to me. You can tell that John and Dave know this and create these stories with that in mind because it really shows. I couldn't be more appreciative of them and everyone involved for creating even more Star Wars that makes me feel like a kid again, who's back in that theater sitting next to my grandpa.

The fact that Luke force lifts Grogu to keep up with him instead of Luke slowing down to keep pace with Grogu says to me that Luke still hasn't learned patience. He really never got that much training from Yoda because he bounced out of there early, against their advice, to go save Han and Leia which ended up being a trap and his presence became more of a liability to Leia because they had to go back to save Luke. It seems like his lack of patience is kind of proven at the end when he makes Grogu choose to stay or go back with Din Djarin. Grogu hasn't been there all that long and Luke is being kind of selfish by asking Grogu to turn away from Mando when Luke was never asked to make that choice. In fact his attachment to his friends and his father helped save them all. This no attachment thing never made sense as written in the prequels and it makes even less sense now.

what cracks me up is they go thru the whole rigamarole of making sure that they allow Mando to see Grogu from afar since he did come all this way, and they agree to deliver the gift, but are really on top of not letting Grogu see that Mando was there, to supposedly make it emotionally easier for him. until, umm... they totally let Grogu blatantly see Mando's ship flying away as he's leaving, so the kid still absolutely knows he was there. like, did you REALLY care about not letting him see Manda, even from afar? cause ya kinda failed. Seeing his ship leave was enough. like if that hadn't happened, it was still plausible that Mando himself never came, he just had the gift delivered by someone else.

I think by this time, the dogmatic Jedi science had fallen to the more organic interpretation of The Force... considering the Jedi weren't around in numbers to enforce their interpretation. After the fall of the Republic, I think Yoda realized the strict and sanitized view of The Force was a weakness of the Jedi rather than a strength and he chose to re-connect with the nature of the force itself which he carried down to Luke during his training.
