@@LibraryMacabre at least you have a reason, I’ve been in a reading slump since the beginning of the year but I keep buying books with excuses like “the cover is pretty” “it’s 90’s” “I’m missing this one in the series”...I should develop some self restraint since I’m not going to read them any time soon 😪

Fun haul! That Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys book tie in with Walden Books and Kool Aid is a cool find! Loved the ones with the art included too. For so long I wished there was a way to buy posters or even book marks from my favorite books.

Me too! I just discovered that Tim Jacobus who illustrated the goosebumps covers is selling signed high res prints on his website, so at least I’ve been able to get a couple posters of my fave covers there. :)

I loved playing The Nancy Drew The Final Scene PC game!!! I LOVE Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys. Some of favorites are The Hidden Staircase, and Clue in The Diary.

Hi Cameron! I love ur channel and all the horror books u talk about. I have read the 4 sweet valley university books u mentioned in this video namely He's watching you, Kiss of the vampire, The roommate and Dead before dawn and also the SVH book u talked about called Hostage. I have been reading SVT, SVH, SVU, Fear street, goosebumps and Christopher pike books as a kid and throughout my teens. My favorite is the sweet valley high and sweet valley university series and also fear street. These books are so fun n cool and full of suspense and intrigue. I have a HUGE collection of sweet valley books too. I love that u adore vintage horror and romance novels, middle grade, point horror, cozy horror, pulp horror and I have seen u have a giant collection of Barnes and noble editions which are so immaculate and gorgeous, I think. Ur book collection is just mindblowing and breathtaking to say the least. Without a doubt you have the best and most earthshattering collection of vintage novels and horror fiction I have ever encountered. Usually I'm a Dan Brown or a Sophie Kinsella reader but I love hoarding vintage novels if I get the opportunity. These books are so heart racing, hair raising, spine tingling and bone chilling, that I just feel like they are a real indulgence I want to pamper myself with once in a while.

I'm 36 and Nancy Drew books, Babysitter Club books, and the Goosebumps were some of the first books I ever read and started my love of reading! Man, this has inspired me to go thrifting for some of these books to add to.my library as they hold such sentimental value and meaning for me as it's what started my reading journey!

I loved The Bailey School Kids! My favorite was Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots. My son is 11 now, so those books are a little below his reading level, but I still buy them any time I find them second hand for cheap so that we both can read them, lol.

My favorite is Werewolves Don’t Go to Summer Camp. So cute! And I weirdly have a crush on the camp counselor from that book 😂 Those books are always worth picking up when you can find them for cheap. :)

The series I loved as a kid was The Boxcar Children, they were the "boy" series that was the alternative to Goosebumps and the "girl"series, The Babysitters Club

Bailey School Kids! My daughter was a huge fan as a fourth grader (now she's an adult with kids of her own). I had been racking my brain forever and just could not remember the name of that series, and she couldn't either. And I haven't been in my library for a year or so :>( so I couldn't browse around. Overdrive doesn't have them, just the Gutman series (Mr. Sunny is Funny, etc.). So I was VERY happy when you mentioned Bailey School -- I think I'll start a collection for my grandson!

I love Bailey School Kids! I recently picked up the last book in the original 51 book series. They’re super formulaic but they are aimed at second graders lol. I love the drawings and the monster theme. Never got into the BSK Junior books though. Too kiddy for me those are :p Btw if you like BSK, check out Mel Gilden’s 5th Grade Monsters series. Loads of fun. Tony Abbott’s The Secrets of Droon is also good stuff, and Adam Blade’s Beast Quest. BQ is mostly a UK series. There are well over 120 books it’s insane. But the drawings are super awesome. Don’t get the so-so Scholastic versions though. The UK ones come with collectible cards and some gnarly artwork!

I remember playing one of the Nancy drew pc games as a kid. At some point I figured out that if you mess up bad enough you can get fired. From that point on I kept just trying to get fired and never actually finished the game.

Literally just finished reading Paperback Crush which also left me wanting to read some Baby-Sitters Club books and other nineties oddities. I read my first BSC book last year (a Super Special book that I completely bought on a whim after watching the Netflix show). I enjoyed the experience mostly because it was just completely random and wild.

Used book stores? What are those? None in my area. I grew up (60's) with Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, & Trixie Belden. Great haul Cameron.

Used bookstores are stores that sell second hand books. They are becoming more and more scarce over time, but I recommend googling second hand bookstores near you. There may be some within a thirty minute radius of you depending on where you live. I will often drive an hour or two to visit stores I haven’t been to before. I usually find quite a bit during those road trips 😎📖📚

Apologies Cameron, should have put an "lol" in my comment about used bookstores. Yes they are a rare beast to find these days. The one closest to my location closed 5 years ago. Heartbreakingly, you can still see the books through the window.

There seems to be a ‘Multi-path PC Movie’ for Halloween Party & Night of the Werewolf from the Choose your own Nightmares series. Only read The Hardy Boys out of all the series you mention :)

Are you familiar with a reference book called The Hooded Gunman by Dr John Curran? It anthologises all of the crime novels released under the Collins Crime Club imprint, which was a British imprint begun in the Golden Age era. (A lot of Agatha Christie’s first editions were Collins CCs.) Hooded Gunman is a big beautiful hardback with colourful reproductions of novels from pre-WWII to the ‘90s.

I have a few Power Boys books, but I have never got around to reading them. Whitman put out Trixie Belden (and other 1950s series they ended after a few years, like Ginny Gordon and Trudy Phillips), which seems to me very different from Nancy Drew--not a knock-off at all, even if inspired by the popularity of Nancy. But the Power Boys really do seem like a Hardy Boys knock-off, lol.

Hey Cameron, you want to know what makes ghost stories fun for me? If you have seen Ghost Beach of the Goosebumps episode, do you remember what the man in the cave told the children: He said that it dangerous to get involved with ghosts. So, it is fun for me to take that statement and see how it applies to each ghost story I read, and see how people are affected after getting involved with ghosts. In the episode of The Haunting Hour called, The dead body, the ghost does the boy a favor, but the ghost asks for a big favor in return. In the Goosebumps episode called The House of No Return, remember what happen to the kids who were pulling other kids in that Haunted house? I want to read those 3 ghost mysteries you introduced in this video and see how that statement applies.

Good question. Honestly, I’ll read and try just about anything. I like cozy light horror, horror comedy, and extreme. I guess one subgenre I usually don’t like are zombie and apocalypse stories. I like the zombie classics, but years of watching The Walking Dead really ruined zombies for me. There are interesting takes on the zombie genre that come about every so often, but I’m mostly just over it.
