Yes we did grab the add on box. For level D, it’s a lapbook. I found that it was just so much work and writing for my 2nd grader and since we do it together, it just wasn’t worth it for us. Totally my opinion. For the higher levels, the add on boxes seem really similar to history unboxed. We’re using a charter right now which is why we decided to try history unboxed though. They are pricey, but both of my kids enjoy what’s inside. 😀

I think it would be very easy to do, especially because the books are loosely organized by country. However, some are more robust than others, so you could decide if you wanted to beef up the ones with less books or pare down the longer ones!

Haha, totally!! So this is for my kid who just does some MP. If he were doing core, I would pick some of the books for literature (I’m pretty sure they have lit guides for some of these titles? (I swear I’ve seen where the mountain meets the moon) or maybe they’re just a read aloud). I would also do the journey to the eastern hemisphere instead of Geography as it is very similar to what MP does). Or I would do this instead of whichever History for the grade, so I’d skip Famous Men of Rome or whatever it is for the particular year. It comes at the cost of sacrificing being able to cover those classics, clearly, but this particular curriculum for me is about having a year that isn’t solely focused on Europe, since AO & MP focus almost exclusively on that, you know? 🙈 Or you could totally do a few unit studies like someone else suggested!

Thanks so much for all of these videos. I am only three years in, so this is great perspective. I’d love to use parts of this and this could fit really well with our art curriculum. (We use Soul Sparklettes and I highly recommend it when the membership opens again if you don’t have a program already. It’s such an incredible program and I think you’d appreciate the unit bundle topics.)
