The name of Patroclus was hardly spoken, and when it was Achilles’ name always followed. Patroclus was a light, but his brightness was always behind the shadow of the great warriror Achilles. He was the rain that tamed the fire if Achilles. “Best friends” Most say. “Cousins” Even some whisper. But when Patroclus died Achilles realized how much he needed him, how much he loved him. And with Patroclus gone, Achilles was a raging fire without his rain to calm him. He raged, killing Hector for his lovers revenge. Dragging his body around Troy, but still.. that was never enough to avenge his beautiful, bright, rain that tamed him with his sweet words, kindness, and his love. So although many simple reasons mutter that the story of Achilles and Patroclus was just of them being “best friends” Some tell a different tale, one about a gray warrior Achilles, missing his beautiful lover, Patroclus.
