I lived in Texas most my life until I moved to Alaska. I’ve caught numerous catfish on a fly. It’s a stick and line. Have lure or bait, you’ll catch fish.

These tutorials are extremely helpful. I’ll be buying my flies, leaders and tippet in April and start fly fishing In April. Can I just tie on some tippet to the tapered leader right away so I don’t have to replace the leader for a while?

Glad you found it helpful - yes, you can absolutely tie tippet to the tapered leader. Right up until you get to the butt section (thick portion) ...then it's time for a new leader.
