I am quite amazed by where Fanatec went. Got a Clubsport CSL and a then a Clubsport V2 almost ten years ago, and seeing direct drive servo motor, that compact, that efficient, with this construction quality is awesome. I am not into sim racing anymore but I love to see how this is going :) Amazing channel by the way, which you were there a decade or two ago :)

23:30 This is HUGE. One of the biggest complaints I had when I got my DD1 was that the ports were not screwed into the casing, especially the usb port which is most likely going to something off-rig. Cheap to improve and would have made me worry a lot less about ripping it off accidentally. Honestly, it should have a usb port that's super reinforced on a replaceable board screwed into the case.

Great first look video! I actually bought my 8nm GT DD PRO bundle with your affiliate link after you made a video about that one quite a while ago. Really appreciate your attention to detail and thorough explanations and impressions. I'm pretty happy with my GT DD Pro especially after upgrading to the QR1 wheelside, it's very solid now. With stock plastic QR it was ok but not great. Maybe I'll upgrade to a DD+ eventually but actually 8nm is enough for me 95% of the time. I'm thinking the DD+ along with QR2 will probably be a noticeable upgrade from 8nm CSL DD Pro with QR1. But this 8nm DD wheel is still very good! What I am hoping Fanatec come out with next is a mid level priced FF brake pedal. It's crazy how much more braking feel I have in GT7 with Dual Sense Edge controller FF brake lever. I'd like to get that feeling in a real brake pedal.

I'm shopping for an upgrade to my Moza R5 bundle. Watching all of yours and everyone else's videos to see all of the options. Keep up the good work.

Great vid as usual guys, driving on a T150 pro and I'd say an upgrade is well overdue. The only thing holding me back from a csl dd is the extra cost for the qr2 wheel and base side cost so its a bit of a waiting game but this new base maybe an option.

Pretty handy for those considering upgrading from DD Pro or CSL DD that the distance from the back of the base to the QR is roughly the same - looks to be within about 10mm.

Just commenting to cement my arbitrarily-placed sense of occasion for this product review

Thanks for doing some unbiased reporting on Fanatec. I am in the market, next January or so. I have a CSL Elite, the V3 Inverted pedals and the shifter. It is all still working fine. The only time I feel like I want more power is driving truck in American Truck Simulator. I also have a PS5 and I do race regularly on GT7. So I need one that does PS. I really think the GT DD 8 Nm is plenty. I really only need the base. I do use the stationary shifter paddles which with the QR1 typed shaft it would require some spacing. I have two of the QR1's which I have a friend that almost never removes his wheel, I will give them to him. I like the QR2 shaft which is shorter and won't need as much spacing. I take my wheel off all the time. I even made a cap for the shaft to keep it clean. I use my racing/driving rig as my office and living room chair. Who knows, I might go DD+ but I am almost 60 and not as strong as I was in my youth. I watched you on my Roku and let the commercials play. Hope that helps. I don't watch ads on my PC. I come here to write. Good job.

Nice review! From the UK here and I pre ordered the 12nm version. Unfortunately still delayed further at November 28. They ship from Germany. What was interesting though was that I ordered the QR2 wheelside and a QR2 lite wheel side from their Germany website. The lite ver was in stock. But the Metal QR2 was delayed to November 30. But somehow, it got shipped and is arriving this afternoon. I'm assuming they just don't update their store website with stocks. Just got an email saying its delivered

Thanks Will &Tom, Hope everyone is feeling better...Currently I'm using a Gran Turismo DD Pro (8 Nm) on my PC rig with a Logitech G29 for the PS5 (GT7) and was thinking of upgrading the PC rig to one of these two wheels bases along with a peddle upgrade ( CSL Elite Pedals V2 ) and moving my Gran Turismo DD Pro (8 Nm) to the Playstion 5 this would also mean I would have to buy a couple of QR2's for two of the two rims that I use. (this is getting expensive..Ha Ha)...So I was thinking C/S DD+ but with the added cost of the QR2's maybe the C/S DD would be the better way to go. that said I should wait until all your reviews are done....thanks for all the hard work guys, very helpful.....BTW NICE CAR!!!!

In March of 2022 I bought the 8nm GT DD Pro for a total of $1,063.00 with the optional ($140.00) CSL Load Cell Brake Pedal kit. Shipping to the U.S. was $33.00 with a $20.00 package discount. Today you can purchase that same setup for about $100.00 cheaper. I have pretty big arms and I don't see a need to step up to the DD+. The DD Pro 8nm is a great setup with plenty of tweaking options. I'm sure the DD+ is a great product but not worth selling my DD Pro, that's for sure. If you could find a none defected one second hand I'm sure you would be very happy. Maybe I'm another four or five years, there will be some revolutionary changes to justify upgrading from a DD Pro setup.

Home improvements have caused me to wait on upgrading from my CSL V2.5. Now that I’m ready to make the change, it’s nice to have so many choices. Definitely leaning towards staying with Fanatec.

So glad Fanatec is finally dropping more competitive products was debating if it was time to switch before this!

Finally fanatec reacted to the moza and simagic pressure. I still don’t regret going simagic over them though. I still don’t understand what is so hard about having a standard wheel connection like moza and simagic have. Just inventing things for no reason Lol the bearing connection real cars already use is perfect on moza and simagic

It's an exciting time to be into sim racing, sadly I lack the time, space and money right now to fully get into it and finally replace my modded G27 wheel, but the time will come and I guess there will be even more and better options (maybe a Fanatec Formula rim with integrated display? One can dream...). Until then, thanks for your videos and reviews, always great to watch (even if the videos are sometimes a little bit long). One gripe I have with Fanatecs bases is the naming, when they advertise their respective Nm figures, why can't the just put them into the name? Instead of CSL and CS DD(+) and DD1/2 they'd be simply called DD5/8, DD12, DD15, DD20, DD25 with an optional suffix for PS compatibility.

Man these videos make me wish so badly that I could afford any ps compatible DD wheel at this point. My t150 is nearly 7 years old now, and while it still works fine, I've outgrown the tiny wheel and want something with more detail, power, and just a larger wheel. Someday. Anyway, these look very good and I'm looking forward to seeing more about them.

Ordered the DD+ on day one and the DD1 PSx will become my back-up base, so all I can say is… what a time to be a sim racer! This review leaves me with no further questions… No port reinforcement or safety switch are two glaring omissions, but that just tells us there is still room for new Podium models. I have absolutely no intention of buying this but watched it all just because I want to keep supporting the absolute legendary effort you guys put in your reviews. With that said, I recently switched from a CSL GT DD pro to an Asetek Forte wheelbase. It did actually make me faster overall because it helped me be more consistent. I didn’t realize how much easier it is to feel slides and correct for them with a better wheelbase. I finally understand why you and some others really stress the importance of slew rate. If these new Fanatec bases actually have improved this aspect, I think people will be very happy with them.

Im finally looking to upgrade from thrustmaster tx. For me to enter the fanetec ecosystem the outdated subpar pedal options can be overlooked, but the lack of emergency stop button is a deal breaker for me.

Really looking forward to the DD+ mainly for compatibility between pc and playstation. The T300 i have is still doing good enough but it's starting to be tired of his job and there aren't a lot of wheels one the market that can adapt to different ecosystems

I've had one instance with my GT DD Pro, where the wheel started rotating uncontrollably at full force, could have used an emergency stop there but at least my hands weren't on the wheel atm.

The only thing I would have liked to see additionally in the comparison with the competition is the integration of the VRS Wheelbase, as it would fit in perfectly in terms of price. I want to decide on a wheelbase by the upcoming Black Friday and am currently wavering strongly between the 12 Nm Clubsport DD and the VRS base, although my 8Nm CSL DD felt a little too weak. Would you personally still recommend the VRS over the CS DD, even if it is minimal, or does it really make no difference and the potential of FullForce might even make it better? I’d like to see you assess the effect of wheel rim size versus force requirements. For example, my CSL DD 8nm is perfectly fine with a smaller rim but does not have enough force with a larger rim.
