The boots you wear can make or break a hunt! You have to be comfortable, but boots have to hold up to all you put them through! This is my review of these boots that i uave hunted in for last few years! The good bad and ugly! Enjoy!!

I recently bought a pair of Zamberlan LYNX MID GTX RR BOA hunting boots and man are they comfortable. Best boot ive ever worn. A bit pricey at $470 Canadian but well worth it.

This goes to show you that its all about what fits your feat! The first premium boot I ever tried was the Kenetreks. I should have never looked back. Nothing has fit my feet better. I'd be money ahead to have just purchased the 1,000 gram, 400 gram, and NI in my size and called it good. I've had the same pair for 8 years and I think they'd realistically go another 2 years without being resoled. Also, I thought Kenetreks were made in Italy.

Salmons leak bad. Kenetrek are decent besides like you pointed out they are really heavy and hurt my feet and others that I’ve heard. Love the Crispi’s...Nevada is great and like the summit for early season can’t go wrong on them. And for the Zamberlans I’ve never tried that model but I can say I’ve got other models and there great give them another shot with a different model you’ll find your love for them 😂

@@montanatines Ya they are awesome! i was just in the showroom down here in 4 Corners Montana and they pretty much have me sold on their new ankle support model. I've tried Kenetrek, Schnees, and Crispi, and the Kenetrek have been substantially more durable then both the Schnees and Crispi from my experience.

Review or Crispi Thor after a Dall sheep hunt up here in Alaska were I live. The cloth eyelets at the ankle blew out...terrible design flaw. Also the gortex in the boot is only 2 inches high leading to cold, wet feet crossing 3 inch creeks. A better design would be metal eyelets instead of cloth, and no gortex or a full gortex bootie.
@montanatines
@montanatines 3 жыл бұрын
Well sounds like that could make for a shitty hunt! Hopefully you had a spare boot….. that’s crappy they only go 2 inches high with the gortex!!!! False sense of security! Thor is suppose to be one of the tougher boots but can’t believe they made that boot with cloth eyelets!!!! I would pass this info off to Crispi and see what they say!!! If it were me I would stick with Nevada, Wyoming or my personal favorite the Idaho gtx

I'm looking at buying Crispi boots to try. I have been running kennetrek mountain extremes for the last two years even though they are extremely durable boots they still hurt my feet and I hate the k talon sole I have no traction in snow or frozen ground during the early spring shed hunting or late season. I was disappointed for the amount of money I spent on them. I guess everyone's feet are different though. Thanks for the good review

To be fair have you tried or know anything about the Danner Thorofare? It seems to be more in line as competition to the Kenetrek. I’m in between buying one or the other.
@montanatines
@montanatines 3 жыл бұрын
I have not tried that particular boot. The dancers that I had I think were similar. What I will say is I have dealt with customer service of both companies when I was full time guide and hands down Kenetrek is better there. It may not sound like much but if something goes wrong you want a company that will go over mountains to keep you happy so that is why I would choose Kenetrek over danner! If they fit your feet well cause comfort and for is second to none.

I broke both ankles and have had several surgeries. My right ankle is now fused with 11 screws and two plates. My left ankle has two screws but is functional. I will destroy a pair of cheap boots rather quickly. I will wear out the right boot twice as fast as the left. I will wear out the right side of the heel and will have the boot twisted. My boots look pathetic. I walk a lot and can keep up with most anyone. Ankle fusions are done at a 90 degree so finding boots is difficult because most boots have a fair amount of heel rise. I like the mountain boots because they have a rocker sole. But I don't know how much heel rise a boot like the kenetrek has. If the heel rise is too high, all my weight stays on my heel and doesn't let my forefoot contribute enough. I need a boot with indestructible rubber and a low heel rise, 1/2" or less. I like 8-10 inch high boots that are waterproof and insulated. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.
@montanatines
@montanatines 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry I am a bit late to reply.. you are right the heel on the Kenetrek is high especially compared side by side to Crispi. I like both but I pretty much run Crispi all the time now with exception for lots of snow then I run the Kenetrek mountain guides. Crispi seems to have a lower heel and more surface area hitting the ground. Both brands have good rubber but I do like the ankle lock system on the Crispi boots more. To me they really cinch down makes for more supportive feel. If you go on their websites there is page that tells about the boot flex of particular models ankle support ect. I am not sure what the mountain boot model Crispi offers is called but it will have least amount of flex and most amount of ankle support I would check those and compare to Kenetrek or whatever other brand you look at

What are your thoughts on on the waterproofing and longevity of the Idaho vs an all leather boot?? I've been told that all leather will last and be waterproof longer. I just hate to spend an extra $160 on the Crispi guide of the Idaho will last....
@montanatines
@montanatines 4 жыл бұрын
Stephen Williams I agree an all leather boot is by far the most durable and longest lasting. The waterproofer that crisp I makes for the Idaho boots is different than what you would put on an all leather. And while it works great and I have had no problems with my Idaho’s an all leather will outlast all others for sure. I would say if you are looking to buy one set of boots to last anywhere is the 3 + year range do it now. It’s better than buying another set in a couple years. If you are looking to save money and not go all leather Idaho is a great choice and will last a while too. Crispi pretty much boofproofs boots plus customer service is great if have problems. I hunted very hard through shed and archery season only using the Idaho and besides being dirty they are pretty much the way they were out of the box. Hopefully that answers your question.!!

I do.... I like their stuff. I try to stay with factory wax on Crispi and Kenetrek just in case something happens you don’t have any warranty stuff happen. Just whatever you do no snow seal they don’t take kindly to that boots start rotting almost from inside out

I think you are too hard on zamberlan boots. Obviously you got a defective product and you should have the boots replaced. I can't imagine that the Salomons are more waterproof than a full leather boot. Also Salomons do not compare to the other three boots that you have. 😊
@montanatines
@montanatines 4 жыл бұрын
To be fair zamberlan has upgraded their boots quite a bit in the last couple years. But in my opinion from what I have used and from talk of the town with people I guide with that are in their boots for days at a time even the new upgrades don’t really compare to the strides that crispi and kenetrek has made. I am sure they are still descent boots and if they work for an individual then that’s great cause that is the main thing is getting a boot that works for you regardless of brand. As to the solomons they are extremely similar to the Idaho GTX, and other boots that are made out of mostly cordura material. They are pretty waterproof as well because they have a gotten lining, however for max protection from water you have to wear gators otherwise the water comes in from pant leg down, you are correct though that no cordura boot is going to be as water proof or durable as one with full leather upper, especially if you take care of the leather the way companies recommend! Can’t harp on it enough that end of the day it always comes down to what works for you!

Lowa Tibet's or Rangers FTW. Kenetreks are a non-starter because they use their own rubber compound instead of Vibram soles. When ask they can't tell me why. I suspect it is because they don't want to pay the Vibram company.
@montanatines
@montanatines 2 жыл бұрын
The lowa Tibet GTX are super nice! I know a lot of people that ran those on fires out west and all were happy!!!! Kenetrek told me that they use their own sole because the k-talon sole has better grip in snow and cold than vibrant and that about all they said. While that may be true because their sole does not get as hard in cold temps it also lasts half as long as the soles made by Crispi and probably lowa as lowa runs vibram. So you end up sacrificing longevity of the sole for traction. Your right though it’s probably mostly cause they don’t want to pay the Vibram company
