This is my BCG, I purchased it stripped when they first came out. The bolt is a Lantac, firing pin is from ZeroFail, and the cam pin is V7. I've never had an issue with it, and its only been fired suppressed. Thanks Chad for the great work, I really appreciate it.

I think they might have seen your video. Rolled the dice and purchased one anyway. Staking no longer looks like that, and they don't have YFS fasteners anymore. Torque check on the gas key passed too. Thanks for helping me arm myself with ways to test my gear

Without having gauges, I have an unused one circa Aug 2019. Still YFS screws but much better staking. Regular cam pin but almost the same amount of wobble. Ejector roll pin is sticking out of one side and the sticking out side is somewhat mangled. Will fix the roll pin and replace the cam pin. Edit: Chad, you just saved me. The roll pin is so mangled I can't get it in any further. It also protrudes so far that the bolt won't lock closed. This is going back to Bootleg and they can replace it.
@fullm3taljacket4 жыл бұрын
UPDATE: Bootleg made it right and replaced the bolt and "internals" in less than two weeks, just don;t expect a whole lot of communication form them. Bolt is much better, cam pin is the same tightness/looseness.

I have one on a BCM 556 11.5" upper, Geiselle charging handle, and a YHM Turbo suppressor. With the Bootleg bolt setting to suppressor, it has run reliably. No gasses leaking out the back. I am very happy. Wonderful setup. Makes a great alternative to a gas adjustable block.

Can you tell me if it increases noise heard at the ear?. Since it blows gas out the right side of the carrier. Thanks

I too have a BCM 11.5 and Yhm, geiselle CH. Hand guard is too long for a rifle speed adjustable gas block. This is my next option to kill the gas in the face effect.

I got a bushmaster varminter years ago (used) . I have no clue how many thousands of rounds I shot threw it. when I finally got rid of it. The spring was bad the bolt pin was bending. The bolt was probably at the end of its lifetime. But I tell you what I never had any issues with it. Just didn't like hollow points. Bushmaster makes some of the best ar-15s I've ever shot. I've Shot the center of a dog tag at 228 yards. Golf balls at 200 yards np. I shoot so much I've replaced bolts and carriers like shoes. You have the best video I've seen. Over time you can just look at it and say yep it's gone. Or it still has some life in it., 👍I pawned it for the same price I got it for. 1k

Just bought one of these on sale and will give it a look-over when I get it thanks to this video. I've got an RC2 working its way through an eForm 4 at the moment and I want to use this in my two ARs (an 18" Geissele HBAR and 13.9" Criterion CORE), both of which have Surefire muzzle devices. Looking at the material for it, it seems that the U1 setting is best for 65-77gr+ rounds? It just seems like this is a much better and more functional solution to gas issues than spending $100+ on a damned Gucci charging handle. So I should be looking at how it's staked and whether I've got one of the older ones with YFS fasteners?

@3darms2 жыл бұрын
LMT Ebcg, Surefire OBC, Lantac Enhanced in that order.
@robertosborne17533 жыл бұрын
Here's what I want to know.... it looks like pretty much EVERY bolt you've ever touched was out of spec. Here's my question, if we do this complete inspection ourselves, or send it to you, and one or two items are out of spec, what are we to do next? If the bolts too short for example, we pitch it and then what, buy another one and mic that one too? What if that's out of spec? Now what? Do we keep buying parts and are 45 parts deep before we've assembled a franken bolt thats all now in spec? I'm just curious. Gauging is just the first step, I would like to know what the 2nd step is. Thanks!
@SchooloftheAmericanRifle3 жыл бұрын
Individual specs are not always a pass or fail. Not everything I touch fails. Every one of my personally owned guns passes my tests because I have made corrections. Most of my customers guns pass too, but some don't because people don't want to replace parts or pay for me to make corrections. Those people are willing to gamble that they will be fine. Think of parts as baking ingredients. If measurements are off you can sometimes compensate with another ingredient. It's the final recipe that matters.
@robertosborne17533 жыл бұрын
@@SchooloftheAmericanRifle Gotcha. I just seen all the measurements on all the parts out of spec and became worried lol. Like, great, now that everything's out of spec, what do we do next? Is my stuff going to explode in 500 rounds because of this? lol. When I seen things like Youngs or LMT stuff way out of spec I thought, then if THEIR stuff's out of spec, what in the world are we to do? lol.

SOTAR, I have 2 of these bcg’s. One in a ADM and one in a DD mk18. For some reason the dust cover will not latch shut on the Mk18 with the bootleg installed. I bought a Wilson combat mil spec dust cover and same problem. I ended up taking a dremel to the DD polymer dust cover and sanded down the ball detent housing and got it to latch. Do you know what would cause this? No one so far seems to know

Maybe try picking up one of the new Magpul polymer dust covers once they hit retail - it might be more forgiving.

This video gives me no confidence in this BCG. The first release of these adjustable bolt carriers did not come with a bolt. That might explain the NiB bolt in it here and the V7 cam pin. Now the adjustable carrier is a complete group - bolt and carrier.
