I have one of these and just fired 400 rounds through it. It's a great BCG, but yes like you said, the cam pin still marks up a little anyway which is no big deal. The Nickel boron finish seems to stain a bit too and become darker to no real detriment, but it does. Other than that I have no complaints. Casings eject nice and smooth/consistently and it continues to work even in a gun where the oil is cooked out of it. I also agree with the previous comment that they most definitely keep gas out of your face which is nice. I don't think it's a huge game changer or anything, but just a really nicely made BCG you can rely on and is great for a nicer rifle. I haven't had a single malfunction with this yet.

I know it's an old video but i like seeing your input on what is arguably my favorite BCG (run em in my 5.56 and my .308 rifles) i can ssy theyve run very well in my 12k plus rounds on both platforms. And its very possible it's a placebo thing but i can say i have less gass to the face when shooting my rifles with this BCG in it than my usual BCM of SOLGW BCG setups. Keep in putting out great and informative content, i love watching your stuff

I'm actually looking into purchasing one here soon, when I look it up online all I get is a bunch of people screeching that it's not worth the price and a bcm is just as good, but other than price complaining none of them seem to have any actual complaints, and to be honest I don't think they're overly expensive, do you have any opinions on that?

@@broderman5 I have the same Lantac bcg as in the video. It is very nice but I think functionally there is nothing outstanding about it. I shoot left handed so the gas being vented forward is a nice quality of life thing but honestly I am not that bothered shooting with regular bcgs. If you are committed to getting a Lantac then I would suggest getting the nitride version over the NiB. The NiB will begin to permanently discolor over time from fouling. It doesn't affect function but it is a cosmetic thing you should be aware of with NiB. But yeah, the BCM will also serve you just fine.

I've used this bcg for approximately 12k rounds and still love it. The face of the actual bolt finally started to flake off the coating in an area forward of the gas rings. But it doesn't seem to affect the function. I've noticed it's starting to go through gas rings a little faster than when new also. I like that the ejected cases always land at the four o'clock position. I just bought a new lantac bcg in the black nitride to replace this one, but I may keep using the old one till something fails. Overall I still think they make one hell of a bcg!

I bought what I think is a NIB BCG at a gun show about 4 years ago and it's made at a small shop in Ohio. I didn't really know anything about them then. I've been watching these videos so that I know what to look for. I've taken mine apart and examined everything very closely with a bore light and the machining looks very clean, including the inside parts that don't show. The staking is perfect as well. The screws are black and so is the extractor so I think that is a good sign. I wish I had all these gauges to measure that stuff. I think it's fine though because everything works fine. I did get lucky though because I had no idea what I was looking at when I bought it.

My nitrided enhanced Lantac BCG has done well for me. I put it in a 12.5" suppressed build and when changing out to mil spec bcg, I noticed a difference in gas in my general direction of my face. It still is quite gassy from the ejection port. I personally think Lantac BCGs are fine. They're way overpriced for what they are at $200. CMC makes an enhanced BCG with the same materials and roughly the same features minus the domed cam pin for the $140 price range.

Any opinion on using that Lantac BCG with a suppressor?
@EarthAltar4 жыл бұрын
That's what they're specifically designed for. The "lower" tolerance for gas efficiency is there for all the crap being blown back while firing suppressed. If it were super tight it may cause an issue with so much back pressure. It's gotta have some room to breathe.
@thegreatshitstain2 жыл бұрын
@@EarthAltar I think what you're saying totally makes sense. My question is, was this really an intentional design choice by Lantac, or just the chance result of using a cheaper/lower quality bolt inside their proprietary carrier?
@EarthAltar2 жыл бұрын
@@thegreatshitstain I have two. One for .308, and one for .223. They are by no means "cheap". What I was referring to with the "enhanced" version (they also make a standard version) is that they are specifically designed to be used with a suppressor. They are ported differently than other BCG's to keep as much gas out of your face as possible. The lower tolerance on the bolt itself is probably by design for this system. Even without a suppressor they run like a bat out of hell. Believe me. I have zero complaints with either of mine.
@thegreatshitstain2 жыл бұрын
@@EarthAltar I understand what you were referring to; hence, me writing that I agreed with your line of thinking. I have one as well (5.56/Nitride) that sees both suppressed and unsuppressed use. It's been fine... Of course for the price, it should be. But something that deserves being pointed out: the E-BCG really consists of an "enhanced" bolt carrier and cam pin design, but not an "enhanced" bolt. The carrier itself, with it's geometry and larger ports, does a great job of venting gas and keeping that gas moving towards the muzzle. The domed cam pin may or may not be anything special. I believe that the pin is optimized for use in Lantac's own upper receiver, which has slightly different geometry in the cam pin recess/raceway. But the bolt that comes in the group is not high-pressure tested (HPT) before magnetic particle inspection (MPI). I'm not saying the lack of HPT automatically means it's a crummy bolt; it may (and probably will) last thousands and thousands of rounds before failure. That being said, most "high end" AR manufacturers use bolts which have passed both HPT and MPI; and those bolts (at least from the few examples I've seen on SOTAR) seem to also have tighter tolerances. Not arguing for or against Lantac's design choices, just trying to play devil's advocate.
@EarthAltar2 жыл бұрын
@@thegreatshitstain I hear ya, and often wondered myself about the testing. If SOTAR has taught us anything though it's that any part can fail, especially the bolt. All I can say is check headspace and look for improper wear. We're throwing these parts together from different manufacturers, and it's a miracle they function at all. Lol.
