What people don't realize is that they noticed BTS's hit in 2017 bc that's when they thought that's when BTS started to grow but in reality BTS showed up in the US charts in 2015 and grew from then. They've been around much longer than most people realize. It's why, honestly, no one is gonna be able to touch BTS for many years and possibly generations.

I don‘t think any band will ever be like bts, they‘re just diff. They care so much about their fans. I remember when my friend told me that her sister met Jimin and he took the time to talk her even tho he was going to a meeting, and he hugged her aswell. He could‘ve just walked away but that‘s what makes them so special, they geniunenly love their fans and you can tell. Only childish and insecure people hate on bts, because happiness and positivity is something alot of people don‘t have so they can‘t accept bts.

I was just about to comment on them being on billboard since 2015. Theirs is the most organic growth in the history of music industry. To add on to what you have mentioned: Tthey have also had solo concerts in usa since 2014. small scale beginnings for sure, but their growth is the most organic. During their initial concerts is the US ARMY's used to draw BTS & ARMY logo and write/draw BTS stuff on their T-Shirt and come to the concert because then they didnot have official merch. And BTS did not only target US market but global market from the very beginning, they used to do concert in russia, latin america, europe, china and many other south-eastern countries. they travelled a lot for numerous small scale concerts. they have burned their bones to create that fan base from scratch globally. I don't know any other musical act who had worked so hard for the level of success they think they deserve because they are white and they sing love songs?? for whom? It's 2022 no one needs no more love songs and then breakup songs ... I don't care what these song writers go through in their personal lives. BTS songs have strong social message which is so much more relevant. their music is bop. The music is upbeat. The dance like crazy. They are all talented performers. and the cherry on top.. they are all handsome as fuck. **Bang PD knows his shit, I think they are doing something similar with TXT. Let's see about that.

As a Hispanic, and a native Spanish-speaker, I was beyond embarrassed...I really liked their music 💔 But after they completely mocked and belitted BTS, their culture AND language....I've completely lost all respect for them. The ignorance. You'd think as a foreign group just like BTS, they'd understand the hardships and struggles it is to make it big in a english-bias setting such as the American music industry....but no. Mock them, make fun of them. How embarrassing, how ignorant! Excuse me while I delete all of their songs from my playlist. No longer supporting.

"these girls are singing in korean, they probably dont even know what they're singing, but they're doing it." What a terrible view they have of the very audience they allegedly want. And this is what sets BTS apart. They've never ever talked down about their fan base, not once. It's so common with western boy bands that they don't even realize they're doing it... but the fans do. the fans pick up on it. We'll take the group that doesn't question our intelligence (or age, or talent, or ability to make decisions on what we like and what we want)

It is generally true though. Most native English speaking fans wouldn’t understand the lyrics unless they searched for translations. And most successful singles that BTS have made. (Like record breaking anthems) Butter and Dynamite are English songs. But to be fair, they have released Korean songs that have charted very well
@faecreature21
@faecreature21 2 жыл бұрын
@@CraigBukenya See, it feels like you're making the same short sighted assumption as whatshisface made. -'Most native english speaking fans wouldn't understand the lyrics unless they searched for translations'..... yep. That is true. So, guess what these fans did? They searched for translations. In fact, there's a ton of online resources dedicated to translating the songs, AND explaining the meaning, the idioms and the cultural significance in the lyrics. I don't recall anyone saying anything to 15 year old boys singing along to Du Hast 20 years ago. Meanwhile BTS fans are learning hangul and Korean so they don't need to wait for translations and yet there's this short sighted assumption that we couldn't possible understand what they're saying but we're just singing along anyway. -'Most successful singles have been English' Maybe I'm reading into this, but in context to your argument, it sounds like you're assuming the English songs are popular primarily because they're in English and not because these songs are just the most recent releases by a group with an ever growing fan base. Bts hit certified platinum record in the US in 2018, two years BEFORE their first fully English song. Those fans didn't disappear for two years. The fans that got them platinum in America got more people into BTS in those two years and so their English songs are poplar in large part because they had a huge fan base already willing to support their music. It's not BECASE it was in English. At best, the English songs simply hooked in more English speaking fans that found an easier entry point into their music and then said "yeah, this is worth my time to learn what their korean songs mean." It's an incredibly short sighted and patronizing view of their fans to think they can't understand or find the motivation/resources to translate their songs. When a member of another boy band holds that view of the very fans they want to be their own fans, of course it's not going to land well. BTS fans aren't all (or even mostly) '15 year old girls'. Even if we were, being 15 and a girl doesn't somehow prevent them from learning a foreign language. we still know how to go onto the internet and find translations. Why is it so hard to think that these fans couldn't possible figure out what a song in another language means?
@CraigBukenya
@CraigBukenya 2 жыл бұрын
@@faecreature21 First of all, I haven’t said fans don’t go out of their way to understand the lyrics. But there’s lots of fans who don’t understand the Korean very fluently and don’t actively decipher the meaning, but can appreciate it sounds very good. You’re making a wild assumption if you seriously think that BTS fans are fluent Korean speakers/listeners. Music transcends all barriers and melodically BTS music is incredible. I think it’s fair to argue that dynamite was more conducive for a universal mass appeal/radio appeal and drawing more fans, because it was primarily in English and was more aligned to western pop. It’s a shame this Eurocentric cannon exists, but it’s oddly ironic. BTS hadn’t released a song which was comparatively as successful. Perhaps Fake Love? Or maybe Boy with Luv
@faecreature21
@faecreature21 2 жыл бұрын
Lets follow the flow of conversation here: -Whats his name says fans don't know what they're singing because its in Korean. -I say that's a poor opinion for him to have of people he wants to be his fans. -You said its true... unless fans look up the translation. -I say fans look up the translations -You said you didn't say fans DIDN'T look up the lyrics. Ok... then following your logic... Fans don't know what they're singing UNLESS they look up translations. Fans, in fact, look up translations (as resources are plentiful!). Erego: Fans know what they're singing. I'm glad we agree and we can stop thinking that English is the magic to their success, especially since, again, they went platinum in the US in 2018 without a single English song (and without charting since plenty of euro-centric charts like to suppress non-english songs) Their english songs are successful due to the upward trajection of their populartiy and growth of their already substantial fanbase, not because it's in English. Yet to Come will probably be more popular than dynamite or butter. For Youth or Run BTS, if released as a single, will likely continue to break records since fans avidly enjoy those (mostly korean) songs. You don't have to be fluent in a language to understand the lyrics to the song. I'm not fluent in Korean but I know 'Bogo Shipda' means 'I miss you' just as intuitively as I know 'Du hast mich' means 'You hate/have me.' I don't need to speak german or korean fluently to understand the start of those two songs.
@CraigBukenya
@CraigBukenya 2 жыл бұрын
@@faecreature21 Yeah I agree that melodically a good song, doesn’t hinge on being in English. I love lots of their songs and vaguely understand their abstract messages but it sounds good so I’ll listen. I’m not too sure by your claim that fans definitely decipher the meaning of the songs. Because I’m sure there’s fans who just listen to the songs and find them addictive and catchy and might know the odd few Korean words here and there In regards to Yet to come, the fan reception seems fairly divided. Lots of fans are disappointed in the song and have proactively uploaded videos about that. But equally, there’s loads of fans who like it. I don’t think it’ll do very well, but I’m sure it’ll chart well for a short while. But Dynamite seriously? Or Butter? Now that’s an exaggeration. I’d be very surprised, because whilst it’s kinda soothing and nice, it’s not good enough (imo) to emulate the success of the singles above. It’s weirdly exclusive too. Because there’s references to other singles, which wouldn’t resonate with the everyday listener. I’d argue that Dynamite being in English added to the universal mass appeal. You’d be surprised by just how many people became fans of BTS because of that record. Or Butter or Boy with Luv. I’m really obsessed with Boy with luv. In truth, I don’t know what they’re saying but it sounds really good.

yes. those boybands are successful, but they lack professionalism and modesty. Too cocky. I think that's the reason why their success only lasts for a short period of time. I wish I can write more beautifully to describe how big the differrence is between these groups and BTS. BTS have depth and value and they have such huge admiration and respect to their fans. They treat BTS Armys really well. I, too, cannot understand their Korean songs. But when I take the time to read the English translations, their lyrics described my feelings really well, better than I can sort it out. It's comforting to listen and feel that I am understood, that their lyrics can be so real for me (even though I'm living a different life compared with bangtan). For example is their songs Tomorrow and Butterfly. Those songs are the representation of a person who can hold your hand in the dark, in your room, during your difficult times. There may be a lot of new boybands who will emerge in the coming years, but BTS is just it for me.

@@yes5402 I will go a bit further and say that even if new boybands have the same professionalism and modesty, it wouldn't work. BTS are seen as genuine and by trying to recreate something using their tactics will always seem fake. Also, most people with so different personalities can't have the same synergy naturally. Even BTS naturally didn't have that synergy. They worked hard to understand and appreciate each other and part of it was because they were being together 24/7 and going through hardships together while fighting to get their deserved debut. Some might say that you can unite similar people so they would easily get along, but there will be a downside too - they won't have as wide view on subjects and its inevitable that songs will become repetitive. Another thing that is very visible with West boy groups - topics they talk about are too shallow, without much to discuss. Most BTS music is very intentional - the instrumental parts, lyrics, videos - they all play huge part in telling a story and most importantly - it promotes to have deep conversations. It's not rare to hear their song, read lyrics and then have a long conversation with other Army's about the message their music holds.

The bands who were mocking BTS in 2017-18 never stood a chance even without BTS around. They just used BTS as someone to blame for their failures. As for 1D, I feel bad for their fans because Simon Cowell took a bunch of solo artists and forced them to be a boy band in order to succeed. The band was never going to last once it served as a launch pad for the members solo careers. I get the impression that the boybands who are still together after decades actually see BTS as the next evolution and as an inspiration to give their best rather than as competition. The interactions between them and the Backstreet Boys, NKOTB and New Edition look pretty mutually respectful.

It’s funny, because with boybands, you can really tell a difference between those who are genuinely passionate about their work, and those who are a factory group that just wants profit. It’s also quite ironic that the groups who actually show their passion become more popular than those who are a product of the industry and corporate greed. That passion was the exact same reason I was a hard directioner when 1D came out and why I still love them today. You could really see how much they cared about what they released and the effect it it had on their fans, they only split when they couldn’t express themselves the way they believed their passion for music should be expressed. This is the exact same reason why I’m a hardcore ARMY now. It is strikingly obvious that BTS make music solely for the passion of making music, they could care less about the fame, clout, and money as long as themselves and their fans are happy, because at the end of the day that’s all that matters to them, their passion and love for their fans. BTS doesn’t try to follow concepts that they don’t think represent them because it’s popular or mainstream. BTS express themselves and their group only. Mainstream doesn’t like individual creativity and thought because it’s not what they perceive to be ideal. Cue the factory boybands, the ones who do everything possible to be a good mainstream boyband that their corporation can pat on the head. They put on the looks, don’t put the effort into their music, and half the time, don’t even write their own music. When there’s a lack of emotion and passion, people loose interest. Then they want to cry about flopping when they didn’t even care about what they did in the first place. This was really long but it needed to be said, thank you for listening to my TED talk

I mostly agree with what you said, but I disagree that BTS don't/didn't care about the fame and the money. They sing about it all the time. From No More Dream, literally their first single, to j-hope's most recent Arson, they've been quite honest about wanting fame, money, and success. There's nothing wrong with that either. The difference is how they approached the road to success - by staying true to themselves and their message through their songwriting and their constant drive to deliver strong performances.

Wow-an excellent presentation. I knew about the racism and xenophobia BTS has endured, but hadn’t actually heard it. That one white guy talking about how it has to be a white American boy band at the top, and those guys from CNCO belittling and mocking the Korean lyrics. A clear demonstration of why those bands never made it. I’ve been a fan of BTS and Korean dramas since 2020, and I love listening to the language. Lyrics in English are available for reference, but not needed to enjoy the vocals, the rhythm, and the emotional impact of BTS songs. The fact that they are exceptionally talented and very nice people is a big plus to the fandom-they are hard working and not just pretty boys riding on their looks. They do have the looks, too. I’m a 71 year old from the US who lived through the phenomenon of the Beatles and now BTS. I feel so fortunate to be living and singing and dancing at the same time as BTS. So many Army feel the same way which seems to be incomprehensible to western music industry people. Army consists of men and women of all ages, nationalities, and races and are united in their support of BTS for good reason. They have what so many others do not and we are happy for them and wish them success and happiness and good health and will be loyal in supporting them. 💜💜💜💜

@@ruthfischer7615 yes, I have heard the lyrics are very meaningful to them, and I haven’t delved deep enough yet. However, for me and many international fans, the music is what hits me the hardest. Coming from the US, I find many English songs sung by many artists in which I haven’t a clue what all the lyrics are, even though I speak English, but I still like the music. I just don’t catch all the lyrics, even in English, so often that I will not try to listen to the lyrics but to the music and musicality of the vocals. This is the way I listen to BTS-more with feeling and appreciating the entire track’s cohesiveness. I do often recognize that earnestness of youth in their songs and hope they can never lose their values and shine their light on the world. I remember that feeling from my youth in the 70’s, but it has been oppressed by the ugliness of the world and it’s hard to feel hopeful. But that feeling comes through in their music, even if I don’t understand the lyrics. Perhaps I will study their lyrics in the future.

When the Beatles were discovered and they became the most famous grupo in the whole world, did we in South America or any other country that doesn’t speak english didn’t like the Beatles? Didn’t we pay any attention to them because they were singing in english? No, we all loved them even though we didn’t understand a word of what they were singing, we all around the glove loved them anyway. That’s why they became so famous and loved by all the other people in those countries. We went for the music, we didn’t understood the lyrics but we understood that their music was marvelous, that’s why we loved them. With BTS is the same thing, we don’t understand their language but we understand the music they make that is great. We can read the translation of the songs that other people post, those lyrics are very meaningful, that’s why they are so famous and loved by people around the world. Those group artists that are commenting about them and criticizing them, they already know that they could never, ever going to be like BTS and could never compete with BTS. Why is that, because after the Beatles, after all these years, BTS is the one. Nobody will surpass Them. Maybe when they get retired, that will be another story for other groups to be famous like BTS.

BTS has never seen other groups as “competition”. You’ll never hear any member say a bad word about another idol, in fact they openly talk about how close they are with other idols and go to the concerts of other groups to support them. If anything, BTS see each other as rivals in the sense that they’re always motivated by the success and talent of the other members and that pushes them to improve. That attitude is part of what’s allowed them to become so popular

One thing that really stuck with me was how most of BTS’s songs easily validate non-romantic love (which is VERY rare in music and media in general) and topics that have nothing to do with love at all, and even the songs that were about a romantic relationship were fairly tame and didn’t make me uncomfortable as an aroace person - which never happened with romance songs before I listened to them. And on top of that, BTS’s songs are sensory friendly. I’m autistic and very easily overwhelmed by EDM music and too much going on. But BTS always either makes their music very slow and with a minimalistic instrumental/beat that allows me to focus on their voices, or faster songs that progress from a slower tempo/has a lot of breaks from the beat which lets me catch up with what’s going on. That’s just two things that really wowed me about them, if I listed everything I’d be here all day.

They write, compose and co produce their songs since debut and some members even before pre debut. Bts can't be compared to western bands, 1. BTS writes, composes, produces their own songs also for other artists. 2. They dance(hardest choreos) while singing live. 3. Western media and the industry need to understand that music connects people. It's not by any coincidence, BTS came this far (and will continue to) because they are true to what they do, work hard and are not in it for the material aspect. Also, the mainstream media is constantly using the same kind of ideas, what do you expect?? Sex, drugs, alcohol and other kind of overused idea ... the public speaks and it reflects upon.

An amazing work 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I have to be honest, I don’t really listen to boy band some of my favourite are the classic-older gen group like Guns N' Roses, Coldplay, Linkin Park. The latest generation like 1D or Jonas Brothers. I found their music are too bland/basic, the concept nor meaning doesn’t really uplift me. That was until I found the Bangtan boys. They definitely break all the stereotypes of boy band for me, on top of having bob songs, bts also have high work ethic, charming personality, genuine and grounded (not cocky) guys, crazy talented individual with each one of them can stand on their own & add unique flare to the team. They too able to build their own individual present as a solo due to the skill & experience they develop over the years. Bts have set the bar so high and the growth of their band expand organically - aside than their 3 English songs they do not have much/any radio play. I bet western artist/label/media/company are distress on how big bts are/will become. So people will put them down but bts fandom are big, loyal and very much supportive of the boys.

Their debut album sold 34 copies on its first day, they had no wins on music shows until their fourth mini album, their concerts were held in theatres, but they didn’t give up. And look where they are now. If the new “American” boy bands put down their pride and their entitlement they could’ve made themselves into something.

The thing I think these groups are missing is the fact that all these successful kpop groups have a vibe musically (frequency) and messages that are not about selfish desires, but more caring. You can't produce a western boy band based on lyrics that sexualize everything and musical vibrational frequencies that keep the listener on edge and almost anger. Kpop kept the vibrational frequency in music that western culture lost around 1985. People would much rather feel good listening to the music whether they understand the lyrics or not (that's what Google is for) than listen to music that keeps them anxious even while singing the lyrics. I know I listen to more kpop music than western music and my child who introduced me to BTS in 2015 listens to more western music made before 1985 because of the vibrational frequencies. I have even heard Korean music producers that refuse to make music at a different frequency because of the effect it has on the human body.

I'm so glad there's many of us who see BTS for what they truly are, and not what the world want us to think they are. Although there's always gonna be people who dislike them, BTS will keep breaking boundaries and changing the status quo, I'm sure of it. And I don't say that lightly, because I know that's also very pressuring and exhausting for them, but their genuine love for music and army is enough to drive that revolution. Years ago, I used to listen to One Direction frequently, but their music never affected me like the discography of BTS (1D are great artists too, don't get me started on Harry Styles). I can't explain it, there's just something about BTS that no other artist has IMO, and I'm so glad to have discovered these seven amazing men one day on KZfaq and to have become an army 💜 Their talent is incredible and they as individuals have captivated me in a way that I don't think any other artist will. I only wish that the west would take them seriously as artists, but it seems as though listening to music in foreign languages is too great a task. Regardless, BTS has proven why they are the biggest group in the world, their genuine love for army and music being only one reason. Music is a universal language, and the industry needs to realize that.

Great video. I practically don't know English and I always listened to English songs....if I wanted to know what it was about, I found a translation....I discovered BTS when they released PTD. It was instant love. 7 beautiful, talented, funny, intelligent, hardworking, humble and nice men......And I'm 54 years old and I love them

I don't know why your video doesn't have more views, is really good and shows a point I didn't even know existed. I was or well, I am a directioner, and what attracted me from them is the good-chaotic vibe they brought everywhere they were. Now I am a BTS army and I feel that what attracted me to them was the same thing but they are so different...they have a message and a purpose behind the music they do, like damn, some lyrics hit hard to my personal life. Also is the fact that they really care about their fans, something that seemed false when I wasn't in the fandom but they proved me wrong. That's the reason behind their success: working hard to demonstrate their value, putting their own feelings in what they do and understand fans are just not crazy people following what you do without having their own opinion.

Regarding BTS singing in their own language- Almost all the BTS songs I know all have some English lyrics which are catchy to sing along to, convey a part of the song’s message, and often include the songs name. You can search for lyric translations of all the songs. You can watch their music videos with cc on in English. You can also learn Korean.

Okay, but hear me out. I would have been okay with some other boyband trying to surpass BTS and their achievements, because it's nice seeing other people use their potential to the fullest to try and gain that kind of success. But seeing them doing just that and act so xenophobic, racist and cocky about it, just throws me off. Like, just because a group is getting global recognition for sheer talent does NOT mean you can try and belittle them for not being American or European or an English-based act. And about the whole different language thing. Sometimes I just want people to stop, think and have a moment of silence about all the other Spanish and non-english songs ever made and tell me to my face they can't stand it because they don't know what it means. Thanks for taking time to read this.

LOL, I didn't even notice there were other boybands coming back. BTS can't be compared to these other competing boybands including other K-pop bands. The way I see it, BTS is like how I felt about Michael Jackson and his music. BTS is absolutely fresh and beautiful inside and out. There are so many endless list of wonderful words I can use to describe them. The annoying thing about some of these people are that they don't seem to know that they're racists. Otherwise they would never show their racism on video recorded in full view of the public world. It's really scary how racism is so prevalent here. We have such a long way to go in that respect.

I knew that BTS battled against the haters but to see such blatant racism and xenophobia was really disturbing. We all like our local groups to be famous but to discount a group just because they’re not from your country or performing in your language is sad and narrow minded. Only yesterday I saw a post on someone’s Facebook who I follow from a European country dismissing BTS for being a lightweight group for teenagers. I told them that what they think is a fun song often is actually a hard hitting social commentary if they take the time to find out what the lyrics mean. Work a little to discover the meaning of their songs and find out more about them before dismissing them out of hand. I think that their decision to do more solo work is a testament to their integrity. That Spanish group was disgraceful in the way they spoke about BTS. These people who denigrate them are missing out on the fun and joy BTS bring to our lives. They are the poorer for their attitudes. Thank you for this exposé.

This is the third video presentation of yours that I have watched, and I am really impressed by the content. As long as you continue to be objective, and don't let your BTS bias cloud the reporting, this promises to be a channel really worth watching. I am a 71 year old ARMY, and have been one for two years. This means I was there as a teen when the Beatles broke. Although I came to the BTS party late unfortunately, (and it is because I had largely stopped listening to popular music) I have not regretted a moment of my time spent watching and listening to them, and have just bought PROOF, even though I no longer have a CD player. I will now buy one, and some good headphones. This is the impact they have, and it lasts. I am so looking forward to their solo works, they can't release them soon enough for me. 💜💜

That is what it is difficult for those people to understand, BTS is not just a group, it is not just dance and music or pretty face, they demonstrate the value of effort and respect for other people despite not deserving them, their songs are so admirable their lyrics reach the bottom of the heart.

Well... I am totally impressed. Very well done video. Brilliant, insightful, intelligent and informative. You have highlighted BTS 7's rise in the West in such a way that I have profound clarity regarding how arrogant, jealous, intolerant, prejudiced, racist and scared the rest of the world was and... is. I must admit I am embarrassed for the rest of the world's music industry as they were spewing venom , hating, bashing, boasting, being macho and arrogant regarding their illusional understanding about what the global consumer wanted in entertainment. Since I am a 67 year old grandma who never in my entire life ever listened to any music much less a "boyband" of adolescence boys... my adoration of the exquisite and brilliant BTS 7 is steadfast. It is not because of I have been seduced by "glamor or fads or deliberate seductions aimed at the youth full of estrogen". I can only speak for myself.... an English speaker from the States, retired Doctor of 40 years and mentor for young docs in my profession... BTS 7 has captured, my soul, my heart, my ear and my loyalty because they are the REAL deal. They are full of what this woman needs to fill my soul with true love, beauty and hope that humanity can truly transcend the world's hate, cruelty and violence and surrender to unity and peace. I must ask the competitors of BTS 7... Who else has ever given the world a platform to know it is all going to be ok... and has eased my fear and have actively dispel the evil in our precious world.

I remember being so dissapointed in the one member of big time rush who blatantly disrespected BTS while the rest of the members tried to shut him up and counter every disrespectul point he said. The JoBros and BTR were my first experience in stan culture and following the "boyband" music industry. The JoBros have been nothing but kind to BTS' success worldwide. I wish that one member of BTR wouldn't think the way he does. Being inspired by BTS' success and wanting to achieve the same is good motivation and what keeps true creative artists in the industry going for years and years. Being racist, xenophobic, and/or down right disrespectul is bad taste and you will be left to drown in your own tears of jealousy.

I used to like one of the groups mentioned here. When they went on a hiatus, I felt like our perspectives on the world were not as similar as I thought and that they were not the kind of persons I believed. Then I got introduced to Bangtan and fell in love with them. After that when I tried to listen to the music of the first group I liked, I noticed that it wasn't as good. You have Bts songs, really well produced, beautiful messages, incredible performances, and when you try to listen to others there's no way to compare. I was still willing to give them a chance when they announced the comeback but when they said those things about Bangtan I knew i was done with them for good. For me the personality of an artist is almost as important as their art

The reason I love BTS is because they have so much content for me to watch, they are or were working so hard every single day there was something to watch or listen to everyday. They kept putting out teasers, new music, music videos, collabs with other artist, jungkooks golden closet films, run bts show, dance practices, v-lives,and the members would all post things on social media, the list goes on and on. They all worked so hard everyday that I found myself looking for something new everyday and they didn"t disappoint me. That is how I was able to see their personalities and see how hard they worked to get where they are. I also saw how they appreciate their fans(Army). I do know that it is a job or say career for them but I fell they are artist that really love their fans unlike some artist that say they love their fans but don"t take the time to show it.

I did listen to 1D in 2013 which was the same year BTS debuted, but I didn’t have an idea regarding kpop or its existence, however PSY’s Gangnam Style was something I heard and loved as well. Another reason I didn’t really get into stanning 1D is because I was 15 in 2013 and I had my 10th boards then (Indian armys would know 😭) which took most of my time and I also didn’t have access to social media. BTS was something I discovered in 2017, but again I wasn’t an army because I was in my 3 year of Medical School, so I was just a casual listener however in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I ended up having some time to myself because classes were halted, no hospital rounds for a while and I remember watching a Vlive of Joon and Hobi on YT, this rekindled my interest in the boys and I started to research about them and I actually liked it. I also did my fair share of listening to other kpop groups (exo, BP, twice etc.), I did like the music, it was catchy and all good vibes, but these groups weren’t able to make me feel at peace and give me happiness as much as bts would. I can definitely say BTS is a group that is likely to be here for a very long time. Some boyband fans can only wish that their favorite's could be as popular and global as bts but that's just wishful thinking. Thank you for the video 💜

those malnourished chickens laughing and mocking BTS because they sing in korean clearly are jealous and stup*d. Don’t they think it’s more amazing that ppl/fans are singing their hearts out even if it is a foreign language? And you don’t necessarily need to understand every word because the best music touches the heart and soul even if you don’t understand it. and that’s what BTS music does to ARMYs and even GP who can recognize an art.

A usual, an excellent job putting things in context. I tip the scales on the older side and have seen 'boy bands', from the Beatles, Mocedades and so on come and go. I've also spend most of my live outside the US and can enjoy music in any language, as long as it catches my ear. Artists who rise to the top have something extra to them. Don't underestimate the fans; they catch the spark and follow it. If a lot of people like something, it has that je ne sais quoi, even if I don't see it myself. I was firmly stuck in the past with my music until I discovered BTS through my kids. What a revelation: talented, beautiful, thoughtful and just plain good humans! All these other so-called groups didn't have the most important ingredient to become successful, never mind top of the heap: a smidgen of talent and some human decency. As for the one espousing 'American' as the true language of pop, save me from ignorant little twats!

BTS has set the standards so high up there that it would be hard for other boybands to achieve. I tried to be open minded and listen to other boy bands but really no-one comes even close to how these 7 boys have touched me with their music. They are not just bunch of good looking boys trying to sing. They are multi-talented, intelligent, friendly, funny, emphatic and humble boys. Their feet are still in the ground and not eaten and corrupted by greed, money and fame. This is why I stan BTS! Apobangpo!

This is so satisfying to watch; especially all the groups (and Cowell) who were actively trying to overtake BTS ending up disbanding, failing, not charting, and honestly... not being memorable at all lmfaoooo. I never really thought about the influx of boybands trying to come back during the time BTS was popping off in the West and it makes sense. Seems like the Western/European artists were doing the exact same thing as the Kpop industry is right now, trying to find the "next BTS" but failing every time. LOVE TO SEE IT. There's an honesty, artistry, heart and skill behind BTS that cannot be replicated or beat.

This is far different from the video, but somehow quite similar. Some K-Pop groups who were on hiatus for years are set to have their comeback this year, many are touring the world now too (well, it can also be because the pandemic restrictions have been lifted). My opinion is that, while BTS are finally having a break from being a group, some k-pop groups are grabbing the opportunity to increase the number of fans in their fandoms, since during the active years of BTS, a lot of people have fixed their attention on the guys. The difference from the K-pop groups that I meant to the bands mentioned in this video is that the K-pop groups are really hard-working and they are good people. They deserve everything they aim to achieve. Again, this is just my opninion. I could be wrong though
