I spent a year In Almaty meeting and living among the people. I attended an opera and the ballet at the theater you pointed out. I remember two young girls aged seven to ten taking a peek into the orchestra pit and thought how great it is that kids get to experience that level of culture at such a young age. This is the people the film Borat chose to poke fun at; a people who often speak three or four languages Kazakh, Russian, many speak English, French, German, I was there teaching English and the kids were amazing.... I had eight year old students that could take an english text and translate as they read aloud into Russian. My wife and I often walked in the evenings during the summer months its very warm and so many people are out and about, the city is alive, friendly, divers. I thought if I was to tell anyone about Almaty I couldn't leave out the shopping, which is unlike any other place I've been in the world. There are places with street markets but not like these, with anything you can image. You can barter in the morning and peruse high end air-conditioned malls in the evening with every thing imaginable between. This is a country which sits in the heart of Asia, of the world and you can see that in every aspect of life. From the food, the goods you can purchase, and most of all the people. I'm from Canada, and we are a multi cultural country, Kazakhstan is even more so. Though the nature, history, culture, and food are remarkable I want to say I found the people to be the true treasure. In the year I was there I spent every weekend exploring and I didn't go by car if I could go by bus among the people or walking so that I could see the place. I went to a dozen places for shashlik, Beran if I'm spelling that correctly, lam with the bone in, is my favorite. I will say a western stake is not an easy thing to find and thats a supprise because they love meat....but they were interested in knowing how we cook it....I have to laugh because we sear the outside, and they kept saying its burning and I would say yes thats the idea....I would have loved to be back there now but covid has changed so much.... This is a nation of very humble people who have less of a view of themselves than they could have, and a higher view of the rest of the world than they should have.... I hope they gain a better appreciation of themselves and their nation from this video. Everywhere I looked I saw potential, beauty, interesting, intelligent, cultured, warm, people but I also so frustration, dissatisfaction, hunger for change.....often the youth I spoke with felt the answer was to leave and start up somewhere anywhere else. Clearly they understood how the world sees them, and the world or at least those that took in that movie and found people they dont know to laugh at should be ashamed of themselves..... Perhaps the people of Kazakhstan will not say so, but I will say so for them. Borat : Produced by: Sacha Baron Cohen; Jay Roach Country: United States; United Kingdom; Directed by: Larry Charles Gentlemen and I use the term carelessly you suck...... You owe a nation an apology. The US is a place I have traveled and hope not to again anytime soon, a people often with a high opinion of themselves and a low opinion of everyone else. A country that has taken from the world without gratitude. A people that seldom speak more than one language and just expects everyone else to adapt. A country where students often can't read or name ten of their own states let alone other countries....a country where Borat might actually live. I was born in Birmingham thats England for my southern neighbors, and I am ashamed of that nation for having anything to do with this trash....... - Patrick Edgington

Borat supposedly does a "career-ending" interview with a US politician in this video and I cannot wait to see who it is.

Is the politician dressed up and acting like a racist caricature of an eastern European?

@@L0rd0fTh3N3rdz mate us Eastern Europeans take the piss out of ourselves more than anyone, it's just a joke !
That's quite sadistic of you. Borat is great. But the fact that rather than looking forward to the comedy, you instead look forward to seeing someone's life ruined, says a lot about you.
