Almost didn't happen - up until a few months before release, it was gonna be yet another gritty, serious, grey and brown shooter to throw on the ever expanding heap from that decade. Switching the tone and the art style was an 11th hour decision - a level of risk you'd NEVER see today.

Borderlands 2 did the character intros better but this had the better marcus segment

I went through a similar phase. For the last decade or so, I'd heard nothing but good things about the Borderlands series; but never paid too much attention to it. I'd played bits of the first game years ago, but again, just never got into it enough to care. Then about 4 years ago, I finally got my hands on the Handsome Collection. I decided to sit down and give the Pre-Sequel a go before 2. And before long, I'd just fallen in love with these games. I finally finished the original after so many years, understood now why TFTB was so beloved; and was ecstatic as all hell when 3 was announced. The rest is history.

Currently I’m working on a comic based on the original borderlands comic series and other books that came out at the time: i might post a video update on it when I have enough content out
