When this game was released me and my little brother played the hell out of this game, it consumed our imaginations, and eventually his lungs were consumed and he passed away last April, watching this video brought back countless hours of memories. RIP William ❤

Almost didn't happen - up until a few months before release, it was gonna be yet another gritty, serious, grey and brown shooter to throw on the ever expanding heap from that decade. Switching the tone and the art style was an 11th hour decision - a level of risk you'd NEVER see today.

I remember buying this game because the cover looked intriguing and I just wanted something me and my friend could play together on the couch. Went from a random purchase to us both standing outside for a midnight release of BL2, them getting their own console so we didn't have to split screen, and now being hooked on 3. This will forever be one of my favorite franchises ever, and is THE looter shooter.

I went through a similar phase. For the last decade or so, I'd heard nothing but good things about the Borderlands series; but never paid too much attention to it. I'd played bits of the first game years ago, but again, just never got into it enough to care. Then about 4 years ago, I finally got my hands on the Handsome Collection. I decided to sit down and give the Pre-Sequel a go before 2. And before long, I'd just fallen in love with these games. I finally finished the original after so many years, understood now why TFTB was so beloved; and was ecstatic as all hell when 3 was announced. The rest is history.

I'm not a huge fan of the first Borderlands, and wasn't keen on what I played of the sequel, but there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that this intro is FIRE, probably one of the best gaming intros of all time. We've got pacing, we've got clear introduction to the world, it's monsters, and the roles our protagonists play in it and a sense of what each of them is about. We've got incredibly timing, action perfectly synced to the music, great music, great camera pans, and overall you just really feel the VIBE and energy of what's going on. Barely any actual dialog other than the music lyrics and the bus driver, and you feel like you inhabit that bus, and you're itching to step off it and engage with the world.
@flamewolf2936 Жыл бұрын
Fun fact: these are two separate scenes put together, the first when the bus driver is telling the story (it sounds like the bus driver) its when your picking a character to play as, the second where the skag gets hit with the bus is what plays when your idle for a a minute or two

So, you want to hear another story, eh? One where the very fate of Pandora hangs in the balance? If not, too bad -- I’m telling you anyway. First, there was the Vault -- an alien prison opened with a mystical key. To the warriors who opened it, the vault was just a container of tentacles and disappointment. They vanished into the wastelands, certain that the Vault held no treasure at all. They were wrong. The vault’s opening triggered the growth of Eridium, a priceless alien element. Soon, the rare and valuable mineral emerged all across Pandora. Its appearance attracted many. Including...the Hyperion corporation. They came to Pandora to mine Eridium, and bring order to the savage planet. Through their excavations, Hyperion uncovered evidence of an even greater vault. Their leader vowed to find it -- to use its power to civilize the Borderlands, once and for all. But Hyperion weren’t the only ones searching for the next Vault’s alien power. The call of danger and loot is not so easily resisted. Certain warriors came to Pandora in droves to uncover its hidden secrets. Some would call them adventurers. Others call them fools. But I...call them vault hunters. Our story begins with them, and with a man named Handsome Jack...
