Directed by Eli Roth, Borderlands is based on the video games created by Gearbox Software and published by 2K. The film stars Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Edgar Ramírez, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Gina Gershon, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Lilith (Blanchett), an infamous treasure hunter with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of Atlas (Ramírez), the universe’s most powerful S.O.B. She forms an unexpected alliance with a ragtag team of misfits - Roland (Hart), once a highly respected soldier, but now desperate for redemption; Tiny Tina (Greenblatt), a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg (Munteanu), Tina’s musclebound, rhetorically challenged protector; Tannis (Curtis), the scientist who’s seen it all; and Claptrap (Black), a persistently wiseass robot.
These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe could be in their hands - but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other.
Lionsgate presents, in association with Media Capital Technologies, an Arad / Picturestart production, a Gearbox Studios / 2K production. Lionsgate will release Borderlands in the US and UK on August 9, 2024.

This trailer is genuinely insulting to anyone that knows even surface level knowledge of the borderlands franchise. They chose genuinely talented actors and actresses (with exceptions), only to drag their careeers through the mud because some hollywood excec thought the franchise was wrong in some way. Id call the writing a joke, but its honestly just sad. The set pieces are mediocre at best. And every single character (not to the actors/actresses fault) has been miscast.

Kevin Hart as Roland. One of the most not serious people playing one of the most serious in the series. plus they didn't cast the Rock as Brick to get that famous counterplay the two are known for. Kate Blanchett looking like some old lady cosplaying as Lilith. Jack Black as Claptrap. Right personality, but they should have masked his voice more. Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis. Possibly an even wider age gap than Kate playing Lilith appearance wise. Krieg not mentioning his meat bicycle even once, or speaking at all considering his insanity. This movie is gonna go straight to the discount bin on release.

The trailer has me pleasantly surprised but its only as a stand alone experience, not as a borderlands one. Brick & Mordacai being missing is insane to me.

Which one? Borderlands 3 had a completely different voice actor for Claptrap then the second game, they didn't even sound alike. And then there was the the VR version of Borderlands 2 where the tutorial had Claptrap's voice change completely when he explained VR-exclusive features.

Tina's not nearly as unhinged as she should be, Tanis doesn't feel like a weirdo, the thresher design is almost unrecognizable this movie has exactly 2 things going for it: Claptrap seems to be using taken his Fragtrap persona, Krieg truly feels like a Psycho.
