You're actually semi-incorrect about farming in BL1. While it is true that legendries don't have any specific farming locations, what BL1 offered instead was the ability to farm UNIQUES. This even included most quest rewards, which can typically be farmed off of a named enemy associated with the quest that awarded them. EX: getting TK's Wave to drop from Scar, The Dove dropping off of Slither, or an Elephant Gun from Scagzilla. Personally I preferred this to the way BL2 and TPS do things. It was great way to actually make these items recursable without needing to resort to resetting the entire playthrough (especially as that option was needlessly restricted to UVHM). Plus I think that Legendries just being entirely random world drops that could show up literally anywhere made them all the more exciting as well, while also encouraging general mobbing and chest farming to get them. Granted it would be nice if more hybrid unique/legendries like the Ajax's Ogre (and 8 others) were possible, but the fact that the BL1 loot system even allowed such amazing things to even exist in the first place will pretty much always make it the best in the series.

Farmed Ajax easily over 1000 times and had 7 Ogres drop, all have had bad parts so far, damage never goes above 350, magazine is always small and no optic each time. I've heard people say on borderlands forums that the perfect Ajax Ogre (like the one in the video) is about as rare as a nemesis invader, in other words, only theoretically possible. Always wondered what the "apex" ogre would be like with Roland's Champion COM. Guess we'll never know.

A couple of things. First of all a regular Ogre can come with the same accuracy barrel as a spear and have the same recoil reduction. Secondly, since Ajax is a badass enemey he has a low awesome level and will drop bad spears 90% of the time. In most cases that means you will get a bad Ogre if you are lucky enough to see the drop. I know because I've speed farmed over 25 Ajax Ogres. The Ajax Ogre shown in this video is a perfect one and is most certainly created with willow tree. Getting a perfect Ajax Ogre from Ajax would be like winning in lottery 1 billion times. The difference between the average Ajax Ogre you will get from Ajax and the one shown in the video is huge. If you want a good legit Ogre then farm Craw instead. Much more likely to get good Ogres than farming Ajax. Because Craw has high awesome level. I even got an AR 590 Ogre which is very similar to the perfect Ajax Ogre shown in this video. The only difference would then be that the Ajax Ogre would have a little bit deeper Tech pool, which will not make much of a difference really. A regular Ogre does already have a deep tech pool and procs on almost every shot. I think showing a perfect Ajax Ogre and then recommend people to farm for Ajax Ogre is a little bit misleading because you are 99.99% sure to get a shitty one if you ever get the drop. A good regular Ogre will beat the crap out any other than a perfect Ajax Ogre. Even then, a regular Ogre can have 69 mag size VS max 55 on an Ajax Ogre. And again, a perfect regular Ogre with the most accurate barrel and good recoil reduction (91.3 Accuracy and 75% recoil reduction) VS a perfect Ajax Ogre is not much difference anyway. And if you're on PC and want to farm Ajax Ogre anyway then do yourself a favour and search youtube for this "Borderlands: Fastest Way to Farm Ajax's Ogre (PC Only)". Or do the same as he did in the video. Farm an Ajax Ogre and use willowtree to get a good one/perfect one. Or it would be pointless over a really good regular Ogre. But seriously, if you have to drive from T-bone for every kill you may never get the drop if you're not lucky. Drop rate is extremely low.

I think it would be pretty cool if you added some gameplay of said weapons in the background besides the farm route to give an example of how badass of weapons these are!

Ive always used this, the long barreled defiler, and reaver's penetrator ( combo weapon with the reaver's edge and the penetrator )

So for the first time ever (and I have play this game more than I should have), I got a normal ogre... I'm pretty sure it was the worst parted ogre too because it had like a 6.9 fire rate, and was x3 explosive. It was level 37 when I was 46 and killed a badmutha brute, and I told it to kill itself for not being a decently parted ogre.

I dread that they'll just use the weapons from BL2 like they did in TPS, but hopefully since they'll end up remodelling and texturing them for the new consoles _anyway _ they'll actually bother to recreate the old weapons. Although probably with balance tweaks. We'll just have to wait and see.

In Borderlands 2 I farmed the fast ball from boll a over 800 kills and no fast ball but three other legendries then I come to find out he doesn't drop it at all.

I feel that you missed a part about this gun. It has many different body parts that it can spawn with. And it will only be better then a normal Ogre if spawn with Body 5. So getting this gun to drop is not enough. You also need it to spawn with Body 5, which is the best and rarest one. It could potentially take more then 10 drops to get the right one. And add to that the fact that you might get a shitty magazine which could also ruin it. Ajax Ogre is absolutely not worth farming for.

Ive been back on this since i played that horrible attempt of a dlc holodome i cant wait till the remastered comes out it will be amazing... :) always enojoy your content gothalion... Edit 8 years later I'm back at the ajax ogre farm and I'm 200+ kills so far with not a single drop I've gotten 6 pearls to drop before this drop :/ my first run at this took me into the 600+ kill range in a 10 month period back on ps3 days... I'm a console player so willow tree isn't really an option.. Plus even if I did that I'd still farm it cause I need to see it fall..

Well, you refer to it as "Ajax Ogre" because it is Ajax Spear with the Ogre explosive accessory. Even though the name changes, it is still Ajax Spear with the unique Barrel5 but it is so powerful because the Spear Barrel5 gives the gun a +4 tech level increase and the Ogre explosive accessory already comes with a +10 tech level increase so that is a +4 bonus on the Ajax Ogre. A perfect Ajax Ogre is going to have a tech level of 18 and a tech pool of 72, compared to a perfect Pearl Ogre with 14/56 respectively. Now, what makes farming this gun such a daunting task is the fact that you obviously want it with the perfect parts, Body5 and Mag5 being the most important parts since they will give the gun 50% firerate and 20% damage from Body5, and from Mag5 it will receive a +24 magazine increase and an additional 18% damage. Regardless, this is by far one of the best weapons in any Borderlands game and it puts the BL2 Ogre to shame. To have an Ajax Ogre is an accomplishment you should be proud of because you are not going to see this hybrid beast very often. This is just some texted info outside of the video, and please for the love of god do not use WillowTree in order to obtain this weapon, it deserves your effort and it is worth going insane over.

Really think their going to remaster classic Borderlands? Don't get me wrong, one of my favorite games of all time, but I'd be disappointed if it was BL2 or the Pre-Sequel. I also think the large population of younger console gamers never experienced Classic Borderlands. Make it 4-player co-op and I'm sold.

See this is what made BL1 loot so much more interesting, sure BL2 has more ''cool looking effects'' and stuff but the variety of possible parts on different weapons is sooo inferior.

Oh, and just so people know the truth. If you compare a perfect ogre to a perfect ajax ogre. The only difference between the two is ajax ogre has about ten percent more recoil reduction. Thats the only difference. Damage is same rof is the same accuracy is the same. Oh, one more thing thats different. Mag size. You can only get 55 on ajax ogre but on normal ogre you can get 69. Someone prove that im wrong...

The specs of yours is ridiculous. I got 9 of them to drop over a very long, grueling period of time and they all suck. 27 mag size, no scope, low damage, etc. It also doesn't help that you have to drive a very long distance to farm him due to the piss poor level design. How hard was it to put another fast travel somewhere closer to him? They did that shit in Borderlands 2 when you were farming Son Of Mothrakk, or Captain Flynt. UGH, SO ANNOYING!!!
