I just want to put this out here: If you ever find yourself a good rocket launcher, the most fun you could have in this game is suddenly available. Smack that onto Brick with a Blast Master class mod with maxed out points in Wide Load and Master Blaster and you really don't need much else (note that Revenge and Payback don't increase rocket damage, only bullet damage sadly (and also in the case of Payback, melee damage)). This produced the most dps I could muster out of anything for a good 10+ levels, at three separate occasions during a lvl 1 to 69 journey. It all hinges on the weapon of course: don't get a helix launcher, to begin with. It seems like it will deal the most damage, but it really won't. The blast radius is severely decreased compared to any other type of launcher, and the formation in which the rockets are fired is so spread out that you easily miss even large targets. I'd also avoid the burst launchers, since they generally have a lower damage per rocket, and with Master Blaster active you'll have plenty of fire rate already. The five-burst launchers additionally don't even hit where you aim. That leaves the "conventional" rocket launchers, of which the vast majority are kinda meh. BUT. Every once in a while when the planets align or some cosmic entity deigns you worthy, you'll find one with HUGE damage for its level. To any other character than Brick, this would still be kinda meh, but with wide load and Master Blaster, it's fucking nuke city. I don't remember the earliest rocket launcher that made this possible, since I sold it. But at level 37, I found one that did 1271 damage, with a 1.4 fire rate. Killed anything that wasn't an armored skag, a badass or a guardian in one or two rockets for 15 levels straight. It was ridiculous. And glorious. Mostly glorious. And it was just a blue launcher, too! Like, wtf. At 53 I found a pearl Undertaker with ~1800 damage. Same story for maybe 12 levels. I'd love to find a lvl 69 monster to see how it compares to stuff like a pearl ogre I've got. Only ever found a Rhino and a Mongol for legendary launchers. They were around lvl 50, and were still worse than the blue lvl 37 I found. A Nidhogg or Undertaker at max level would quite literally make Brick into Shiva, the god of destruction. The mere thought almost brings me to tears.

Skills: I feel like you've really undersold the value of Blood Sport. Unlike most other forms of healing it applies all 2% per skill points (so 10% at 5/5 up to 18% at 9/5) almost instantly (same timeframe as an insta-health vial). Which makes it really powerful when you're low but have weak enemies nearby to kill while Berserking. It's also completely separate from his innate 3% of max health regen per second from Berserk itself (and it too, scales with your max health, so this is why melee Brick can become so hard to kill with a high health build). Tediore shield health regen is actually flat (as is regeneration effects on class mods; e.g. +12 Team Health Regeneration and similar). Bash is much better than you think. The reason is that Daze massively lowers enemy fire rate (and therefore DPS), so it's extremely helpful at nerfing the crap out of the DPS that that enemy badass you're punching is doing (this is much more important for the moderate number of enemies you cannot flinch-lock with repeated critical hits). It's not an amazing skill but I'd put it right on par with Iron Fist for being 'solid'. Juggernaut isn't as amazing as it seems because of how damage reduction is implemented in Borderlands for most effects that provide it. It is actually an additive increase in effective hit points (note shield and health hp count), so even 100% damage reduction does not offer immunity to damage. In fact, it only halves the damage you are taking. Still, Juggernaut is strong enough that I would also put this skill at the 'solid' rating (it has very nice synergy with your regeneration skills). Payback is good even if the condition to trigger is a bit hard to get and take full advantage of. Part of the reason why is because it buffs damage from a lot of sources almost no other damage buff effects (it's also a healthy %, so the effect is strong enough to be worthwhile). It not only affects bullet damage like Revenge, but also effects, grenade damage (including rockets, and that is multiplicative with weapon damage buffs to Rocket Launchers), melee damage, *and* DoT from your elemental DoT effects (weapons and action skill). It also lasts 10 seconds (on-kill skills last 7 seconds for reference). It does not trigger again until your shield is fully recharged (same condition as Unbreakable). Unbreakable the coms in question are: Titan and Pangolin Tank Enhancement mod (loyalty mod). Unbreakable chaining is pretty amazing, note also the synergy between Unbreakable and Safeguard (% of max shield increase from Safeguard makes the shield hp regenerated by Unbreakable higher because is based on your max shield capacity). Rapid Reload is actually not nearly as strong as it seems. This is because most weapon types gain free reload speed from the leveling of your weapon proficiencies. For most weapons, at maximum 50 prof, you get a free +102% Reload Speed buff, and the effect of Rapid Reload (and all other Reload Speed buffs for those matters) is additive with this. So the change in reload time at max prof is actually barely noticeable, that said, during leveling the effect is much more noticeable. The recoil reduction is actually bugged (it makes your recoil worse, not better!), but even if it wasn't, it would have a barely discernible effect (math on recoil and accuracy is complex and that effect doesn't actually do much that matters because math reasons). Revenge's effect is bullet damage, so it only affect bullet firing weapons (note, that means it does *not* affect Rocket Launchers or Carnage Shotguns for that matter). Because it is bullet damage and not weapon damage it stacks multiplicatively with weapon damage effects (including up to +48% from weapon proficiency), but additively with other bullet damage effects, notably Payback in Brick's case. Liquidate is situationally a very strong skill. It's amazing CDR for Berserk, but awkwardly deep in the Blaster tree. Main use case for this is in hybrid builds, typically instead of Short Fuse (because this is actually much better than Short Fuse and skill points are scarce for hybrid Brick because he has to get enough tank, blaster, *and* brawler stuff to actually work well for both shooting *and* melee). Cast Iron is pretty mediocre for the same reason Juggernaut isn't god-tier: damage reduction implementation in BL. It's also explosive only, so really limited value v. enemies. What it *is* nice for is helping curb blow-back damage from 'danger close' use of Explosive Rocket Launchers. Leveling: If you're new to Brick, I'd actually recommend not commiting to either melee or gun play right away for two reasons. one, you might not like melee (or wish you'd taken it sooner if you try it only later on). Two, the best opening buildpath for Brick is actually starting with a bit of tank tree. He has perhaps 2 of the best tier 1 skills in the game right there ready to be taken with first skill point (beyond taking your action skill). My recommendation is to go Hardened first, then into Safeguard at the very least before you do anything else. Here is why: Brick is large and prefers playing an up close and personal combat regardless of melee or gunplay. Because of this, you *will* take damage and lots of it, so being hard to kill is of paramount importance to finding success, especially early on when your gear is crap. Second, the reason for Hardened first over Safeguard is because early game, you base health will be much higher than your shield capacity, and the % is better (12 v. 8), but also, making your health pool larger makes the amount of health Berserk regenerates higher as well so you get even *more* value out of the health increase. Safeguard becomes more valuable by comparison at higher levels (base shield capacity at end game can exceed 3k whereas base health is 1120 at level 69), and especially if you end up picking up Unbreakable. After those, if you know what you want to do next and are having no problems living, feel free to go brawler or blaster accordingly, if you're not sure, or sometimes having survival problems, grab Die Hard next, and then see again if you are still struggling to live or not (and do you have a preference for melee or gun yet). Builds: You pretty much nailed melee build, though imo, 5/5 Sting Like A Bee is actually really useful (gapcloser if you aim at them at some distance and punch is useful for moving from enemy to enemy quickly; if you run a Skirmisher com, 8/5 or 9/5 S. L. A B. is hilarious and actually pretty good too). Bash will generally do its job well enough even at 3/5. Blast Master Brick is actually better than Lilith in the Underdome, Gothalion proved this by example multiple years running by winning the Underdome competition on the official forums with it. It's actually the most powerful build in the game too, stronger than Roland and Lilith, and Mordecai (played em all tons, Brick has the highest DPS potential; but it *is* conditional on kill skills+Payback being active for maximum effect). As for the skill tree, you can use those last points to get Iron Fist and Sting Like A Bee so that when your shield finally goes down for real (no Unbreakable trigger), you can use Berserk to prolong your life and buy maximum time till FFYL finally happens (and you might just murder whoever is still alive and not even take a knee). I would go Iron Fist over Endless Rage here because you're using it only to maximize your tanking when the situation calls for it. SLAB is basically mandatory for endgame use of Berserk because being hit by bullets tends to slow your movement and that lead to being kited into FFYL, SLAB prevents that very nicely, even at 3/5. Ogre com is good for shotgun builds, but for explosive weapons and anything not a shotgun, Blast Master com is better because it buffs Revenge *and* Master Blaster (multiplier synergy ahoy). Pangolin shield with 'Overcharge Capacity!' text and '-550XC Impenetrable' in the name is best for blaster-tank builds (barring getting a perfect Ironclad, which is a Pearl and therefore stupid rare) as you're relying mostly on your shield to tank for you (it's hp is already much more than your health come late game, and then you have Unbreakable as well). For melee builds a Torgue Muscleman shield is optimal as maximizing your health pool is ideal for because of how much % health regeneration melee Brick has access to (Berserk's 3%/sec and Blood Sport's effect as well). You can also put together a few different takes on hybrid builds (mix of melee and gunplay). The real secret to making a good hybrid Brick is to only take what you absolutely must have from the tank tree (Hardened+Safeguard+Die Hard, and *maybe* Unbreakable), and then grab the very best skills from both Blaster and Brawler trees. Together with a com that supports both styles well (Blast Master actually does this well enough if you run explosive element for Berserk, but it's more powerful for Blaster-Tank builds), other options include: Centurion com (+ team health regen 5th line), Warmonger (+ Team Melee Damage 5th line), Berserker com (use the time Berserk is on CD to gunplay, don't take Unbreakable).

Worth mentioning on Unbreakable now that people are gonna start playing the GOTY version: if the shield depletes while regenerating, it stops regenerating. So if your shield gets broken, you start regen with Unbreakable and immediately get shot again reducing it to 0 again, Unbreakable gets turned off. So if it seems like its not working, then its because it sometimes get insta shut off by this. This gets noticed a lot less when you get a mod because the shield regen becomes so crazy the enemies rarely have a chance to deplete it while the regen is going on.

Blast Master Brick is the only build I need. 5 points into everything on the Blaster tree except Liquidate, 5 points into health and shields on the Tank, and 5 points into Juggernaut. With some VERY belated tips for this video: I have to say that short fuse may not be quite as strong as you make it out to be. It's still fantastic; but leaves very little in the way of player input for reducing bricks cooldown. Thanks to the surplus of skill points, I actually believe that for a final build: Liquidate manages to be the best skill for reducing cooldown. With only 1 point, a good explosive assault rifle will proc enough times to completely remove the existence of your cooldown, with the other 4 points removing any possibility of there being a margin for error. All this with no support to the skill in the form of class mods so your focus can be entirely on optimizing damage and survivability. Also, your comments on payback feel inconsistent with your feelings about other skills that only activate once per fight. 10 seconds is well enough of your range of what activates in most fights. The skill in most scenarios, disregarding the very longest engagements, is just a flat 40% damage increase- putting it in the okay minimum, to potentially outstanding tier for most mobbing *and* bossing

1. Blood Sport is absolutely outstanding because it can stack multiple times. 2. Bash is not bad in the slightest. It reduces enemy's fire rate, movement and projectile speed. 3. Pay Back is great. 10 seconds bonus damage to EVERYTHING? It's definitely awesome for melee builds. 4. No idea why you maxed out Bash. Melee Brick has a shit ton of DPS, so 3/5 is absolutely fine. PLUS, if you're gonna do a melee build you should go with a Skirmisher COM for +4 in Short Fuse. This is important because the Skirmisher COM boosts Bash as well. 5. Endowed DOES increase the damage of explosive punches. 6. Rapid Reload is not useless for a melee build. True, you're gonna be in Berserk all the time but what if you go down or you're out of Berserk? Or maybe you're fighting a boss where melee isn't very effective? For these reasons, I also specced into Revenge. Why not? We have too many skill points anyway. 7. Liquidate is great if you're using a Berserker COM.

Bash is imo really useful! The only problem is, everything it competes against is even more useful. Let me clarify: it's only useful when you are wailing on bigger, badder enemies, but those are the ones you generally take the most damage from. Even with a persistent flurry of punches, a badass will get off plenty of shots against you, and if you are close enough to punch them, those shots will land, doing lots of damage. The reduced accuracy from daze doesn't do much in this situation ofc, but it also reduces the enemy fire rate, substantially, which means you take a lot less damage. Also, as long as a bunch of enemies are close together, it's very possible to daze all of them with a few punches each. The move slow additionally makes sure you can keep punching them all without anyone running away, ensuring more daze effects and thereby less damage. I'm mostly saying this from a lategame perspective, where Berserk is kinda shit, mostly, but it does have its uses. At 69 though, there's just straight up better things to invest in.
@sofielundsskolan5 жыл бұрын
And what's with the Payback hate lol? It's a significant amount of damage, even if you have Revenge active. Also, it increases your melee damage, which Revenge doesn't. Seeing how you speak so highly of Die Hard, I'm guessing you mostly just run at things to kill rather than wait for your shield to recharge? :P Don't get me wrong, I love Die hard too, but it's contingent on you getting downed, which isn't an ideal situation. I'd never get it over Payback if I had to choose. Of course, Payback is kinda useless if you're using a shield with a humongous recharge delay (i.e. most shields, sadly), but there are plenty of parts which can make shields start recharging in around 3 seconds, and are fully charged after a few more. Taking that time to reload behind a box or something is really worthwhile, seeing as you increase your damage potential coming out, since your shield will get depleted again at some point. Also, like you say Unbreakable only works with the same restrictions, so I don't see how that is something you can hold against it! Oh, and it's Titan class mods which give points in Unbreakable, not Blast Master.

And I'd say Liquidate is a lot more useful than Cast Iron haha. It works with any kind of explosive weapon, meaning you can get berserk off cooldown really quick, it's better than Short Fuse for that purpose. Like you say, it's weirdly placed, but even without a melee build I VERY frequently use Berserk for the health regen, both in and out of fights. Also, at very high levels, it's very useful if you're mixing a melee build with something else.

If I'm not mistaken, it's actually 65 skill points you can get because levels 1-4 you don't get skill points.

You can earn four skill points in the DLC. Claptrap and Moxxi DLCs in both playthroughs give a bonus skill point upon completion.

So, from my experience of brick(limited as it may be), his brawler build and indeed his action skill in general is complete garbage. The only reason I EVER used it during my playthrough was to regen health and run away(because of the speed bonus). His tank build makes him an okay tank at best, and blaster only really works if you either get lucky or farm explosive weapons for hours. He's not bad(I almost never actually needed my action skill, and like I said, it was a health boost when I did use it), but he's not nearly as much of a tank as he could be. Also, too much of his playability requires that first kill. but that's a common issue with all the characers in borderlands 1.

mutilator97 Thats why I never put points on endowed, unless you get decent explosive weapons, this skill is pretty much useless.

ok so for one you SHOULD build brick by FIRST taking Safeguard & Hardened in Tank tree THEN go endless rage & Heavy Handed then Prize fighter to become a cash spawning god then short fuse & Blood Sport and YES Blood Sort CAN be a saver IF you have at least a Very Low regen shield and solo your a killer, Bash is good for Bosses so not bad IF your the main on a Boss in MP mode and I hate to say it my brick build is based on payback with a base shield from Tiradore that has low shield cap, Very high health regen +30% health & a recharge of 100 in just a 5 sec cover my shields are up & full I also use endowed because it works with my Explosive Fist berserk. your build is low tier Trash based ONLY on PVP and can't get you past fyrestones questline in the game. First playthrew / solo Brick needs to be Tanking Brawlzerker starting with the first 10 levels going to Safeguard & Hardened, then moving into Brawler tree going down it like you did but also taking Prize fighter & the tier 1 skill you ignored, then moving back to tank juggernaught is a must along with payback & die hard, next is endowed, Revenge, & Liquidate and also I've noticed in the ENHANCED GOTY yes revenge Procks on the fists IF your using the explosive artifact you god damn nooblete. PS if anyone thinks I'm being too harsh I was a Main line Brick in Borderlands on the Xbox original back when it was a new game NOT the one not the 360 the original 10lbs big black son of a bitch box that scared the Japanese.

Sam Trotter would be curious to see your opinion on the vanguard class. imo it's the best way to play mass effect, it's almost like a more hardcore/heavy version of Lilith from BL1.

Why not do a hybrid that can melee and leverage the gun kill skills or launcher build? With 69 points feels doable, especially if carrying a Sucker Punch pistol...

okay so a game to optimize. How about Pathfinder: Kingmaker? Based on PnP it got tons of veriety and u got a fking ton of stuff to go through due to classes having verietys to choose from and a mega ton of freedom when making your character and leveling it up due to multiclassing being a thing. Good luck with that and i'll see u in a year xD
