@MrUglyDinosaur
I have a 2007 boxster and a 1984 black on black NA 944. Id get in the 944 just purely for the character, the boxster is An amazing handle and feels great but just lacks distinctive personality to me

Echoing the earlier comment that your 944 experience is directly related to the number of tight curves you put it through. Without question the naturally aspirated version lacks power by modern standards, so if you want more power, look for an S2 (fantastic low end torque at lower rpm) or a 951/Turbo (which will knock your socks off from 6000 rpm to the redline). IMO the S2 is the best street version of the 944 and can cruise all day at 80 mph at 2400 rpm. We’re fresh off the Tail of the Dragon this weekend and it was a blast!

I bought an 87 944 this spring. I wasn't looking for one, but knew the cars lineage, it had belonged to a friend in the 90's and I helped him sell it to my then father in law who I bought it from. Well maintained since new, all records etc, it was too clean to pass up.

Honestly if you don’t throw it throw any curves, you won’t enjoy it. That’s just from experience so far.

We have similar tastes. I've had my 86 944 for twenty years. Also have an air cooled 911. Water cooled 911. MK3 Supra. Previously had a 2.5 Boxster. Don't drive the 944 as often as I'd like but every time I get back behind the wheel, I fall in love with it all over again. Yes, the Boxster was technically better, but the 944 is iconic, built like a bank vault, and such a pleasure to drive.
@drunvert
Ive got a 2016 Cayman and a 944 ( 83).

Florida has no mountains and curves to really enjoy it. Make the trip to N Georgia and will go on a days ride you won’t forget and it will change your mind about the 944.
