I just looked and this is a ~170$ magnet on Amazon?? Be just a effective to destroy the safe to get it open and then use the 170$ to go buy another one. IF your safe is empty, just buy another one. Will a cheaper, less strong, magnet work?

hi - my sentry safe has a plastic cowling that is in a position as to cover the actuator so as to not allow the magnet to get close enough to the steel door to open the pin it seems... mine is 10 years old, so some models seem to have had a modification to help avoid this dang it. I needed it to work as my solenoid has broken on it and sentry said 'just get the locksmith to drill it open.... at your expense".. handy that. Locksmith In Australia si $100 for call out plus $180 per hour. Not to mention the cost of a new safe as well.
@BoredLockpicker
@BoredLockpicker 6 жыл бұрын
Hudda Rudda mine is newer than ten years lol. So I guess they made them worse. You bounce the safe while pulling in the handle and do the same thing the magnet does.
@huddarudda2244
@huddarudda2244 6 жыл бұрын
Bored Lock picker wow. Really? Just bounce away and the pin will wobble enough to open? Terrible! Should not surprise me. The biggest magnet I can buy in Australia fir under $600 - eBay is 50mm x 30mm deep - the hockey puck is 100mm x 30mm - and I sourced one company $700. Maybe if my magnet got a clean attach it would work.
@huddarudda2244
@huddarudda2244 6 жыл бұрын
Bored Lock picker also - it’s attached to the floor - so I can’t wobble it till I get it open and unbolt it. Insurance won’t cover anything unless bolted to the floor in Aus.

Bored Lock picker any thoughts on where I’d drill it - to avoid paying a locksmith to $200 do it? I have the equipment - drill and bit. Just a normal drill bit? I can email you a photo of the safe?

@BoredLockpicker
@BoredLockpicker Жыл бұрын
I agree is a non issue. But they didn’t send any thing out to fix the safes affected by this so there’s still a lot of safes out there this works on. I have that magnate in my work van. Use it everyone once in awhile

This hack (and the "bouncing" one) no longer works on the newest models ...(since Master Lock bought the company) they are equipped with a spring follower and magnetic interlock, adjacent to the solinoid, specifically so they will not open with this method.

I think any one with an ebay account has access to this. I think right around 0 probably carry one around. they're really awkward to transport. they latch on to every metal surface with in a foot or so of them. and they're fragile and break easily if it slams into something to hard.

I read that sentry had acknowledged this flaw, and said they provide an after market fix to prevent the opening by magnet. They list the safes they say need it and I could not find the model I was interested in, the senef3428e sentry safe. So my question is, does this magnet solution work on all sentry safes? Or only certain ones. IE the smaller safes they offer? Thanks!

All they have to do is make the actuator move the other way, in towards the opening of the safe to clear the handle mechanisms, that would cure that problem. Damn engineers! no it wont. this works on the electronic one theres a metal piece that retracts when the right code is entered. the magnet can also make it retract. on the combination one theres actually wheels with cut outs in them. when you dial the combo you're lining those cut outs up and a fence drops into it allow it to open. no way to make that happen with a magnet

im not sure. i searched google but dont see any pictures of it with the inside panel off to see the actuator. if its the same springloaded style as the one in my video it would work. other thing you can try is hitting it where you think the actuator is with a rubber mallet while trying to move the handle to the unlock position. or bouncing the safe on carpet floor while trying to pull the handle
