Frankenstein the film I saw as a 7 years old boy that made me a Horror film addict ! Now I'm 57 year's old and still love all universal studios monster films and hammer and amicus Tigon Tyburn and others

I'm 57 too and I might have been five the first time I saw Frankenstein. I remember Karloff didn't scare me as much as I felt sympathy for the monster. What an icon.

I was in fifth grade, age ten and a half or so, when he passed. The local radio station's morning show paid great tribute to him by changing the morning format to playing audio recordings of his dialogues, or by speaking of his career. When I went to school that day, my classmates seemed to enjoy the fact of his death, and made fun of my admiration of him until, at a certain point, I had tears in my eyes. I would lose m grandfather to cancer in about a month, but Karloff's death was rhe first death that touched me emotionally.

He performed amazingly as the monster, his gaunt face was a perfect match for the makeup, and he was able to garner sympathy for the monster as well

One of my favorite Boris Karloff's performance is the snarcky and creepy John Gray on "The Body Snatcher" !

So, You put the burning torch into his face , Into his Eyes ! Well, Sometimes ya can't help things like that. Hollyweird needs more writers with the ability to come up with perfect lines like that.

Not to take away from any of the other great horror classics that I love so much, I would have to say Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein are the 2 best horror movies ever made. We all know Lon Chaney was a master of his craft and he could do things with makeup and his body that no one else could, but I don't even believe that he could have done a better job than Karloff did with his great acting and help from the best makeup artist in my opinion that we have ever had "Jack Pearce"

Il y a eu chose qui m'a toujours fasciné ces quand réalité le monstre avait d office été réservé pour bela vu le succè de dracula il refusa catégoriquement le rôle pas assez séduisant pour le grand bela . Pourtant il interprétera dans le serie b frankeinstein contre le garou qui n est pas une grande interprétation esque bela était en difficulté dans ça carrière et cela du être intéressant du point de vu financier mais je aussi qu' il ne pouvait pas refusé du faite que cela aurai pu relancé ça carrière. l interprétation est médiocre de la créature. Par contre Boris karloff a fait ça légende avec le rôle de la créature mais ça lui a permi de joué des t'as de films fantastiques aussi dans d autres personnages . Enfin tout ces films sont précieux dans l histoire du cinéma fantastique dans les années qui suivront il y aura la Hammer et la Amicus et les films de corman .

I have around 40k in oil paintings of all the classic monsters by the artist Michael Raymond and they do look great in color, but when it comes to the movies I think they have more of an effect in black and white, maybe it's just because I've been watching them like that for 60 years.

détrempé vous les films noirs et blanc sont vraiment fascinant ont y retrouve des effets de lumières de l impressionnisme allemand et cela cré un climat de terreur et de frayeur. La couleur ne fait pas tout cher cinéphile passionné de films fantastiques. Amitié
