I'm glad I bought my 210 Dauntless 17 years ago as the prices are about 3x higher now. The boat is in great shape (as are most old Whalers) and I just replaced the engine so it should be good for another 17 years.

21’ boat for $143000 ! Glad i bought an old 22’ Shamrock for $14000 three years ago! I had two Boston Whalers over the years, paid $425 for a sport 13 and $400 for a basket case 16’. Boating is not a sport an average guy can get into today.

Love the Whaler. Some video’s from the Edgewater’s?

Me too! There was a guy in the Edgewater booth who said "they didn't want their boats videod or the prices shown"..... I don't think it was Edgewater, just that one dude in the booth who didn't really know what he was talking about, you know they get people to come in from dealerships to work the booths that might not really understand what is going on lol so, unfortunately, we have no video for Edgewater

150,000 for a 21' boat, GTFOH I'll take that and go buy land not a depreciating asset. 0 sense
@moedog5087

You don't buy boats to build net worth. You buy them to have fun. The people that can buy this already have land and other assets making them money.
@michaelcope2329
@michaelcope2329 4 ай бұрын
Mr. Moe, l already have land as well. We grow pine trees, and hunt deer and turkey there and fish out of the ponds and creeks. I also invest as well. What I don't do besides vehicles including atvs and tractors is buy depreciating assets like 21' boats for 150K, again thats nonsense. FYI we have mud boats too for hunting ducks in the marsh and for work when we have to in the marsh and swamp, but Go Devil boats aren't 150K. My point is boats are grossly overpriced. Lastly if I would buy another boat, its gonna be aluminum not fiberglass. The secondary point is that there are so few people like those you wrote about, the boat manufactures have priced themselves out of the market and its a matter of time before you see a MAJOR correction in that space (deflation) as well as other markets. The pricing of boats and other luxury items as well as necessities is simply no longer sustainable. Just read all the comments in this post before mine. Its over, the main event where it becomes obviously visible and readily apparent to everyone simultaneously, just hasn't occurred yet. @@moedog5087

Without question it is, however, a boat is a depreciating asset class. Land by and large appreciates, yes it does have cycles where it goes down in value, but by and large it appreciates over time. Not to mention in 20 years my land is still great and I've cut another round of merchantable timber off of it that has not only paid the carrying cost, i.e. property taxes. Also leaving me with some profit for reinvestment or other things. My family and friends have hunted it for 20 seasons and fished out of its creeks and ponds, etc. In 20 years I've got a worn out boat thats worth about 20% to maybe 30% of what I paid for it. Not to mention been through a re-power and due for another one, and a new trailer, and the list goes on. Boats have simply reached a tipping point and I think boat manufactures are getting ready to find that out in a big way. @@whalerlife53

I say all of this fully respecting the Boston Whaler brand and heritage. Their ride and seakeeping ability are world class. Is it me, or does every Boston Whaler cabin-based boat - versus their center console platforms - feel like a failed attempt to shove 10 pounds of $hit into a 5 pound bag? It all just all feels shoe-horned in: cockpit seating, dinette arrangement, sink and cooktop, head and shower, v-births, aft cabins. Examples of wasted or odd elements on some of the vessels … Why have a port-side digital observation station and controls (this isn’t a 62 Viking)? How do you spend a $1M+ and not have a swim platform while the triple outboard engines are basically kissing the backrest of the cockpit passenger bench (or their heads, and good luck having a conversation)? Why squeeze a sink and Kenyon cooktop so close and leave zero counter space for food and drink prep? Why is there no cockpit space for extra Yeti’s? Are the livewell(s) too small? Any 6-foot plus human with long arms is SOL trying to use the heads and showers. I’m sorry, but the overbuilt and engineered elements might be infringing on functional utilization, especially if operating with a couple of small families or a half dozen fisherman. Give these great boats more cockpit, helm, and cabin breathing room, please!!! And lower the prices!!!

What a joke $143k for a 21’, you might as well dump money out a window. I’ve owned a lot of boats including BW, Grady, Mako, Chaparral. No value at that price.

$150,000 for a 20 foot boat? I know where they came up with the old saying…. The two best days of boat ownership are, the day you buy it and the day you sell it.
