I disagree with the not knowing their motives make the villain bad. I think it's actually pretty good to not reveal the motives from the start. Also even though Jigen is here like a year or more if we read it after each other he is really not here to long.

I remember hating boruto with a passion until I read the manga, not saying that covers the fact that theirs 100+ filler episodes which were aids but you can't blame them they started too early with the Anime. The manga on the other hand has been doing great lately with the story an plot and I hope it reaches higher limits an be on the same tier as naruto. The villains are different an I hope to see a backstory on them for more information about them. And lastly I hope the opinions of the Anime will change after the Ao and The Kara arc because alot of people who are hating just hate because of the Anime filler but like I said, they started too early and some of them just hate cause others are. Which is pretty common. I remember having an argument with a boruto haters an when we got to a conclusion he said hes never watched or read boruto which shocked me so.

I have to disagree about the Jigen not being a good villain part. We only found out about Jigen being Isshiki a couple of chapters ago so we need to give it sometime before we find out his true motives and all of his ideology. He recently just got introduced and right now they are just power scaling him. Similar thing happened with Orochimaru in og naruto. When Orochimaru attacked the village, we didn’t really know much about him and we found out more about him as the series went on. As for villains like Sasori and Deidera having more backstory than Isshiki, well those 2 were only minor villains and weren’t gonna have much screen time, so the creators had to get their backstory out of the way quick, whereas to Isshiki is gonna be a long term major villain so it will take time.

this is so dumb, we didnt know what pain was doing until he fought naruto. it isnt even over yet and people cry about jigen not having motivation. this is all build up for when we find out his motivation clearly, they have laid so many hints at things

I’m just gonna say it, I like Boruto. But I absolutely understand why other people don’t. Truthfully I really enjoy it because I have a younger cousin who literally initially started with Boruto. No joke. He is really young and just starting into anime and watched the first episodes of Boruto wondering, about Naruto. He asked me if I’d ever watched Naruto and could tell me about it, so now I’ve got him sitting down watching it with me. It’s great because he’s getting to see the hero of my generation, and the hero of his. I just enjoy the fact that kids are gonna grow up with Boruto and watch his journey like we all watched naruto. So I enjoy Boruto.

I kinda disagree with the statement that a villain needs to have a complex backstory or ideology. You can have a pure evil villain with no complex ideologies or mindsets and still have them be memorable, example being Dio. Yes, he does have a backstory about his dad being a shmuck and being adopted by the Joestar family, but when push comes to shove, none of that matters. Dio is evil through and through regardless of what his past is. Pure evil villains get traction and popularity through their charisma and charm, not through moral complexity. Not that I’m excusing Boruto, the villain in question still isn’t NEARLY as good as Naruto’s.

People hated it for so long and skipped the time travel and Hozuki castle arcs are gonna be confused when Kara appears. I mean the show stagnated but i was straight flames for a few months before hiatus.

Nux tbh i dont think ur lookin at the Boruto manga the right way cuz ur lookin at it like its an manga thats weekly but its not so that means ur not going to be getting all too much info when it comes to chapters, its like looking at attack on titan manga u dont get a gargantuan amout of info each month so u end up knowing everything about a character or the plot of the story, just need patience

I dropped Naruto during the War arc in the same way I dropped Gintama... I tried over and over to push through it hoping it got good... and I pushed through over 40 episodes of Hitman Reborn till it was watchable. That said, I’ve never managed to get past episode 5 of Gintama usually only the first 1 or 2 episodes before giving up on it again for a couple more years. I googled when does it get good, and it says I have to watch over 100 episodes of content before it becomes watchable... that’s a little much.

I actually like how different Boruto is from Naruto (& Naruto is my favorite anime ever), it makes sense; Boruto has BOTH of his parents unlike Naruto, & his father is the Hokage so he is spoiled/unappreciative & popular, also smart, has 3 nature types & is ok at ninjutsu, where Naruto could barely make a shadow clone, grew up poor, shunned by the village, very dumb and misbehaved for attention. This is a good set up for character development where we can grow with Boruto & watch him learn valuable lessons, & potentially to make it more impactful the lessons he learns will be at a huge cost. In the beginning of Boruto it shows Boruto & Kawaki in the leaf village destroyed & Boruto has a very stoic look in his face different from his naive young character design, more like Sasuke, more serious. For me, I've always felt like the original Naruto & Shippuden had a lot of contrast (Naruto was light/ Sasuke was dark) so I feel like Boruto contrasts Naruto perfectly. We've already watched Naruto's story of a legacy built, now its a new story watching Borutos Legacy be destroyed. Naruto had nothing to lose, Boruto has everything to lose. I'm not the biggest fan that the setting is shifting towards a more modern era and leaving the age of the Shinobi, but I understand it & accept it. The hidden leaf looks like a metropolis now, there's gadgets that shoot chakra natures, trains, etc. Sometimes Boruto helps his sensei Konohamaru with strategies- just such a different dynamic than Naruto & Kakashi. OBVIOUSLY the original Naruto & Shippuden will ALWAYS-no matter what-be better but for a continuation to the next generation I think it is being done well in the manga. I was a hater at first because it was so different but it grew on me. I think it's actually getting better & better. Not saying it's the best but it's good for what it is IMO. P.S huge fan, been a following before you were famous

The reason why everyone flames Boruto is because of how similar the anime is to irl modern day life.

Gentle reminder that while the Boruto anime is loaded with more lows than highs, the 47 manga chapters out as of this typing are absolutely fantastic, and feel like an infinitely better and more natural continuation to the ending of Naruto than than the animated version. And for that matter, more of a natural continuation to a series than Dragon Ball Super was for Dragon Ball Z. Does it develop side characters as well as the anime does? No, it mostly focuses almost exclusively on Boruto and Kawaki once the latter meets the former, but for the story the manga is telling, it works!

My Headcanon sequel for Naruto is that many decades(or maybe centuries) have passed since the great ninja war all the ninja villages have united to be one Ninja Nation. And since a long time have passed almost all people within the nation have a chance (perhaps 1% below chance) to develop either a sharingan or byakugan because the genes of the past have been spread throughout the population. Now the plot would be just exploring the world of Naruto...perhaps there are other nations that aren't ninjalike and alot of politics would be involved. Just a thought.

*spoilers* I wonder why people think Jigen doesn’t have a clear motivation. Jigen’s whole schtick is that he’s a proxy vessel for an Otsutsuki. And their motivations are super clear, anything and everyone that does not belong to their race, is food.

using your reasoning on why jigen is a bad villain, then couldn't we say that early Shippuden Akatsuki sucked? we knew they wanted the tailed beasts, but we didn't know why. we didn't know their full motives until much later in the story. My point: don't judge jigen as a bad villain when we have only seen him for a few chapters so far. his true motivations will likely be revealed later.

Boruto feels like slice of life with none of what makes slice of life so endearing to watch.

The boruto anime is like a guilty pleasure of mine. Well it's more like a car crash. I know its garbage but I can't stop watching it. I keep convincing myself "maybe it will be better." And it does have a handful of good episodes but overall it never happens
